Arsenal remain highly active in the transfer market, and the recent hijack of Eberechi Eze’s move may not be the final piece of business they complete before the window closes. The club have already enjoyed a busy summer as they continue their pursuit of ending a long-standing trophy drought by next summer.
The belief within the Emirates is that a successful transfer window could mark the beginning of a new era of sustained success. To that end, Arsenal have shown determination not only to strengthen their starting line-up but also to build greater depth across the squad. With several new additions already secured, the Gunners are still exploring opportunities to further improve their options before the deadline.
New Targets Under Consideration
While Arsenal already boast some of the finest talents in their current set-up, the recruitment team remains alert to possibilities that could elevate the group to an even higher level. The club have been linked with Rodrygo as part of their efforts to bolster their attacking firepower, although reports suggest that another potential arrival is beginning to emerge as a more realistic target.
According to L’Equipe, Arsenal are monitoring Malick Fofana of Lyon, who has developed a reputation as an exciting and dynamic attacker in recent seasons. His pace, creativity and technical ability have attracted interest from several clubs, but a move to the Emirates would represent a significant step forward in his career. The player himself is said to be keen on the prospect of joining a top club where he can test himself at the highest level.

Balancing Sales and Signings
However, the possibility of Fofana’s arrival could depend on departures within Arsenal’s current attacking unit. Both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have been mentioned as players who might be moved on, and their exits would provide both the financial room and the squad space for a new signing.
Fofana’s talent and potential make him a highly appealing option, yet the structure of Arsenal’s squad means that additions must be carefully balanced against sales. As the window draws to a close, the Gunners will need to decide whether to reshape their attack in order to accommodate a new arrival.
For now, Arsenal’s interest in Fofana reflects their intent to leave no stone unturned in pursuit of the right reinforcements, as they look to ensure that this window delivers the depth and quality required to challenge on all fronts.

Just like Eze’s acquisition depended on making sales first. 🤦♂️
But his signing was clearly not planned to be made with the speed it was, unless it was a complete co-incidence that Havertz was injured and Sp*rs were close to a deal for him.
Arsenal will have to try and sell players in what remains of the window. To what extent Berta succeeds remains to be seen.
The transfer deficit was about £185m prior to Eze, so at a reported £68m it will be around £250m now. Given Liverpool, for example, a bigger club financially than Arsenal, have made strenuous efforts to reduce their overall spend this summer, I don’t see how Arsenal can do anything but try to do the same. They are both businesses after all.
Berta did not want to go above the original offer until the Havertz injury (or perhaps something we don’t know of yet).
The narrative was that we had to make whatever sales prior to being able to acquire Eze was simply incorrect assuming we were always going to meet PSR standards and the financial limits of the KSE empire. Many days ago I called out this fallacy.
The reason for not going for Eze sooner was not because of needing to make sales any more than it would have been before making the 3rd, 5th, or 2nd signing before making sales. It had nothing to do with much of what you have correctly mentioned above. Timing of sales and acquisitions, if they are within the same window and the owners have the wherewithal to make them happen, is irrelevant.
This guy is on the same level as Barcola, Cherki, etc.
If we don’t sign him now he’ll cost $100 million in two years.
Or I guess the plan is to wait for Chelsea to sign him and ruin his development, then will pay them $50 million lol
No need to sign another striker, what about big Gabriel,he is a complete # 9.
