Los Blancos turn up the heat with summer centre-back operation already underway.

Arsenal defender William Saliba is reportedly open to making a ‘financial sacrifice’ in order to join Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants stepping up their interest in the French international. According to Football365, the La Liga champions have long admired Saliba and have now launched a fresh push to bring him to the Santiago Bernabéu.

The report suggests Real Madrid are already advancing a summer plan to sign a new central defender, with manager Xabi Alonso said to be driving the process. Saliba is believed to be one of two top targets for the Spanish giants, alongside Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté. Both players are reported to be keen on the move, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

Saliba interest grows as Arsenal strengthen and Madrid look to rebuild

Arsenal are not expected to be willing sellers, having already strengthened significantly this window. Mikel Arteta’s side have brought in Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Christian Nørgaard for a combined fee of £123 million. In addition, a £55 million deal has been agreed with Sporting for Viktor Gyökeres, whose medical is due this week.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are preparing to announce Cristhian Mosquera as their sixth signing of the summer after agreeing a £17 million fee with Valencia. The 21-year-old centre-back is set to join the squad in Singapore to complete his medical.

Despite these reinforcements, the Gunners are aware that other clubs are monitoring their stars. Saliba, who has become one of the cornerstones of Arteta’s defence, is now the subject of serious interest from Madrid, who are looking to replace David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger in the long term.

Real Madrid see opportunity in Saliba and Konaté

The report suggests Madrid may consider Konaté the easier signing, with his Liverpool contract expiring next summer. The Reds are unlikely to let him leave for free, which could open the door to a transfer this summer. However, it is Saliba’s willingness to potentially reduce his salary demands to complete the switch that has caught attention in Spain.

With the Frenchman reportedly open to the move and Real Madrid determined to strengthen their backline, this story may yet run deep into the summer.

We can’t lost Saliba can we? Thoughts Gooners?

  1. 100M and RM can have him. Suits all 3 parties, Saliba will never win major honors with our current manager other than the “Anfield Comeback Trophy”, ” Top 2 Trophy” and “UCL semis Trophy”, we get cash to shop at Stamford Bridge for the new year and RM can focus on wining the UCL and LaLiga.
BTW, happy to have “Got our Just Arsenal back”

    1. Indeed you are a reality show! Are you sure about what you wrote? Only time will tell. I even doubt that you are a true gooner! I suspect you are from a hostile club masquerading as an Arsenal fan. Instead of being appreciative about the business done so far, you are busy making declarations about Arsenal’s inability to win any trophy!

      1. Kia,

Why would TSRS be blocked from this site. I know that a lot of the post’s have a range of sarcasms in, but I wouldn’t imagine that’s grounds for being blocked from this site or any other for that matter. 🤷‍♂️

    2. Hello my friend, I don’t suppose you are a Gunner. We have beaten RM twice, I understand it is a name every footballer would like to associate with but we are a big club and don’t have to sell our best players anymore. We cannot be bullied into selling, RM today is not the same just like Man U

    1. Signing Mosquera doesn’t mean we’re signing his replacement. We want squad depth so as not to overwork the players & in case injuries surface.

  2. How much is he earning at arsenal that he is willing to reduce just to play for real madrid? This is a funny rumor

    1. My thoughts exactly. I think he’s on about 180k. Defenders of his ability are earning almost 3 times that sum so I really doubt this rumour

  3. As always, I look to see what the player himself has to say about his situation.
Saki is quoted as saying he is happy at our club, wants to win things and become a legend.
Of course the media want to stir the pot and both RM and Barca are very good at doing that.
Never say never, but I’m pretty certain not one single player would want to leave The Arsenal at the moment and, in fact, we have top players saying they only want to play for our club – Zubimendi for instance!!
The only personnel who will leave this summer, in my opinion, are those that Mikel Arteta doesn’t require.

  4. To me any player is replaceable but SAKA and SKELLY is impossible….I just imagine how much I will cry and weep when Saka go…I will still be a gunner but Will never forgive the manager….

  5. Arsenal should sell Saliba now before he becomes a biblical Judas in the dressing room

    1. We are talking of strengthening and some are here being ok with selling our priceless players. How then can we win silverwares??

    2. Joseph Udeagbala,

The way your talking anyone would think that Saliba is pushing for a move, and becoming a disruptive figure in the dressing room.

Watching him the other day in the Milan game, he didn’t look in any hurry to leave to me.🤷‍♂️

  6. Everyone raving about saliba 🤣 Gabriel is the reason saliba looks and is as good as he is yes he is a top 3 cd in the world but as previous post say we have got a decent replacement in mosquera get some funds back let him go time to cash in
