Arsenal drop out of race to sign £40m+ rated midfielder

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have dropped out of the race to sign Lille ace Boubakary Soumare, the French talent is being tipped to join Manchester United or Chelsea before the January transfer window closes.

Sky Sports add that the 20-year-old midfielder is likely to cost in excess of £40m. With the Gunners in a position to potentially benefit from a signing in the middle of the park, is it wise for us to drop out of this transfer battle?

The defensive midfielder has made 25 appearances across all competitions for Lille this season, including six for the Ligue 1 outfit in the Champions League.

Sky report that Lille managed to sign Soumare on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, Les Dogues seem to have the chance to make a massive profit on the ace.

Mateo Guendouzi seems to be the gem in our midfield ranks, it seems like the possibility of having a dynamic French duo in midfield is out of the window for now.

We could be missing out on a future Les Bleus superstar by pulling out of the race for Soumare, as per Transfermarkt, the midfielder has won 35 youth caps across every level from Under-16s to Under-21s.

European clubs sign up promising teenage players for next to nothing
then on sell them to Prem Lge clubs for massive profit.
Pepe was bought by Lille for 10m in 2017 and sold to Arsenal for 70m two years later!!!
    PL clubs are plain suckers.
We could have bought ten Martinellis for 70m.
Even if half prove quality we have made a huge profit.
    We sold Iwobi for 40m!!!
Forget signing expensive players and develop our own youngsters also.

I don’t understand Arsenal fans, first we were crying that the Team must spend the money on bringing in enforcements and not rely on cheap unknowns. When our team finally does that we then crying out.

      1. ozziegunner says:

Soweto Gooner, good scouting and recruitment picks up unpolished gems, like Martinelli, before they prove their worth and their value increases markedly.
My concern is the Arteta faces the same problem as Head Coach that faced Emery; he will be expected to coach the squad of players scouted and recruited by others with minimal consideration of whether they suit the style Arteta wants to play.

Why arsenal is not considering Bruno Fernandez

Iwobi was sold for 28m plus 6m add-ons and not 40m. Stop propagating this lie everywhere.

That is still a lot of profit. Arsenal must be smart. Borrusia Dortmund bought Aubameyand for 10m pounds and sold him to us 3 years older for more than 50m. Chikwueze of Villareal has been there for about 30M-40M waiting for the buyer with a vision. Arsenal will only become interested when he becomes a 100m player. No disrespect but that Chikwueze boy is better than Nicholas Pepe and he is available for about half that price. Watch him tear Real Madrid and Barcelona defences apart.

    2. Phil says:

Ok-So we mugged off Everton for a total of £34m and not £40m. Still the biggest pile of money we will ever get for a player who wouldn’t get a look in at Brentford next season let alone Everton

  3. gotanidea says:

Looks like young Pogba, but I don’t think Arsenal have enough transfer budget to buy him and we already have many central midfielders

Better get the old Sandro Wagner or Graziano Pelle now. Their price tags are very low currently and they can help a lot in the second half

    1. zaharaddeen Mohammed says:

      gotanidea
we Arsenal we are not considering the low price because there are not do it better
we a world class players in our team that they got to the victory

    2. ozziegunner says:

gotanidea, yes Arsenal has “many central midfielders”, but how many of them are good enough to represent the Arsenal? This current midfield is among the weakest in living memory.

    3. Sylva Olabanji says:

If Arteta can develop Guenduozi into a world class then we are good for now.

  4. Zaharaddeen Mohammed says:

yes we are support you coach to sign a new quality face to Arsenal up Gunners

  5. Mobella says:

We are never in race for him and I don’t think any club is. This is all media BS just like in Stone case. Lille will never in this TW sell him anyway. The boy is an integral parts of that team. He has started 26 games so far for them.

  7. SAGooner says:

The questiom that begs to be asked is whether Arsenal were in any race for this fellow at all in the first place. “Arsenal drops of race for……” Again, as I have said before, you might as well publish the entire list of players in all major leagues in Europe and Brazil to get close to the number of players Arsebal has ostensibly dropped out of the race for. What a load of rubbish.

  8. Aron Mar says:

Why is arsenal not considering Bruno Fernandez

    1. SAGooner says:

They might be, but would you necessarily know if they are? Do they publicise every single move they make? I hope not, it just drives the price up and gets all the other clubs interested in how they could benefit.
