Arsenal employs a consultant to audit club and leave staff fearing they will sacked

Arsenal may have just won the Premier League and reached the final of the Champions League, which means the club has been making significant amounts of money in recent campaigns.

However, the Gunners are also keen to ensure that they have their house in order financially, and the club has reportedly employed BCG to audit its finances in a bid to cut out waste.

Arsenal are one of the clubs that laid off staff during the COVID pandemic, and they also sacked their scouts and reorganised that part of the club despite the many successes it had achieved previously.

They came under significant criticism for that decision, and the Gunners will continue to do what they can to ensure the team remains the main focus of their operations.

Arsenal staff concerned by review

The Daily Mail reports that BCG managing director Jean Paul Petranca is leading the review, and it has caused staff to become annoyed and shocked.

Some fear they could lose their jobs and do not understand why that would be the case when the team has just finished its most successful campaign in two decades.

The review has therefore created uncertainty among staff, particularly because it comes after a highly successful campaign for the team. Despite the concerns, the club’s focus remains on ensuring its operations are as effective as possible.

Owners demand greater effectiveness

However, the club’s owners are keen, or even obsessed, with effectiveness, and they want to ensure they close loopholes within the organisation, which might make some staff uncomfortable.

The financial review is intended to identify areas where waste can be reduced and ensure the club’s resources are being used effectively.

While Arsenal’s recent success has brought considerable attention to the team, the club’s owners appear determined to maintain strict financial discipline behind the scenes.

The review could therefore lead to further changes within the organisation, although staff concerns remain as the process continues. For now, the club will be expected to balance its pursuit of continued success on the pitch with its desire to improve efficiency off it.

  1. Not surprised Football has become a business Instead of people doing things because they love football, now it done to increase profits Such a shame

  2. I hope this does not affect our academy or staff on the fringes, would rather increase ticket and merch by 1,5 %

  3. If there’s any truth in this then how very sad. And if I was an employee, I would be very angry.
Especially when you see all this going on while the likes of Arteta, Rice, Odegaard and Timber are being lined up for eyewatering new contracts.

The Manchester United owners have been guilty of this kind of thing to. But I’m not surprised if I’m honest, as I have said in previous post’s that football lost it’s soul long ago.

    1. I kinda disagree.

Man Utd under Ferguson were winning trophies. During that period, they weren’t bothered about the extra expenses cos all was working and seen as necessary for the club to keep winning. They only started these cost cutting when things had been down for many years.

Arsenal on the other hand for few years now have been going from one record breaking financial year to the next. Our last season’s EPL trophy and CL run is projected to see us rake in over £700m for the first time…another record breaking one. Yet we’re doing what Utd are doing.

My point is that our behavior towards money is worse than Utd if we were to look at it from a moral and fan point of view. Business wise though, it makes sense for the owners.

I still remember them cutting players wages by 12.5% with the excuse of saving staff jobs, only to turn around and sack over 50 staff. Classic Kroenke.

    2. Without the top players being enticed to renew they will look elsewhere. That’s a sad fact and without those top players or manager the future is less certain and non playing staff will find themselves more expendable if the club can still be efficiently run without some of them.

  4. Arsenal needs money to invest in infrastructure and playing staff rather than frittered it away on unproductive, redundant personnel

  5. Perhaps this information makes our transfer window more understandable. Maybe also a reason for selling Martinelli and the difficulties to add more attacking options?

  6. Where’s all this money Arsenal are supposed to have from their very successful seasons in recent times.

    1. I read Arsenal’s net spend was between 2022 and 2026 was £621.7 million. Which is third most for the period

    2. I suspect all the staff who feel they are at risk of being redundant are asking the same kind of questions. Sadly, they likely don’t know any more about what’s really going on than we do.
