Arsenal are Premier League champions and reached the Champions League final last season, giving them the confidence to pursue ambitious targets in the transfer market. Several players are reportedly on their radar, and they have now been linked with a sensational move for Florian Wirtz, who is struggling to find his best form at Liverpool.

Liverpool endured a difficult campaign last season, with their style of play failing to produce consistent results. The team has improved this term under a new manager, but Wirtz still appears to be struggling to adapt and establish himself.

Perhaps the German needs a change of environment, and Arsenal could offer him that opportunity during one of the next transfer windows. Fichajes reports that the Gunners are among the clubs interested in signing the Liverpool star.

Wirtz Needs Fresh Start

Wirtz has been one of Liverpool’s leading players, but expectations surrounding him remain extremely high. A move to Arsenal could reduce some of that pressure and provide him with the conditions required to rediscover his best form.

Mikel Arteta may also be able to help the midfielder reach another level. Arsenal’s style could suit Wirtz’s technical ability, while the manager may provide a clear role that allows him to influence matches more consistently.

The German remains a highly talented player, despite his difficulties at Anfield. His quality has never been in doubt, but he may need greater stability and a different tactical environment to produce his best performances.

Liverpool Would Demand Huge Fee

Liverpool signed Wirtz for more than €100 million, meaning Arsenal would face a difficult task if they attempted to secure his signature. The Gunners would probably need to make a substantial financial commitment to convince the Reds to sell.

Liverpool are also unlikely to give up on a player they invested so heavily in after only a short period. The club may believe that Wirtz can still become a central figure in their team once he has adapted fully to the Premier League.

Arsenal’s interest could nevertheless create an intriguing possibility. If Wirtz continues to struggle and Liverpool become open to negotiations, the Gunners may try to take advantage. However, completing the transfer would almost certainly require a fee capable of matching the scale of Liverpool’s original investment.

    You are having a giraffe

    1. Reggie and Jax
I love Cockney rhyming slang. As a young child I remember my dad saying to my mum that he was going upstairs for a Tom tit. Hadn’t a scooby what he meant then. Going for a bubble off Green Lanes became a regular occurrence years later.

            1. SueP and Jax,

You two should definitely consider joining our comedy club.

And while we on the toilet jokes, I’d just like to say that I logged off earlier this morning.🤣 A little bit to much information?.😂🤦‍♂️

  2. Our style of football would NOT suit Wirtz. Chelsea, if he stays in England, would be his best destination as their Head Coach Alonso knows him from their BL days and they play the same formation.

    1. Or is it our style of football currently does suit Wirtz, precisely the reason we need to sign someone completely different instead.

I was watching Ode’s role for his country being a lot different than for Arsenal. He’s definitely more to the right for Arsenal and definitely further forward, but for Norway he’s roaming left far more often, and coming deep to receive and set moves going more too.
Arsenal have the players to be mixing things up much more often. Our lines, especially defensive line may play too high too often, it’s cramping our own potential for opening the game up with our own counter attacking football.

        1. By all over the pitch, do you mean sort of like Odegaard against Wales? That Wirtz could be good coming deeper to get on the ball? Liverpool not giving him enough freedom to roam?

I think Wirtz similar to Eze, looks unpredictable on ball around the box. I would be tempted to use both as a false 9 or support striker rather than 10.

            1. But havn’t we’ve had just this before a few times, I believe youthful Kai Havertz was that roaming with energy and excellent stats across the front line in German league, but could not repeat it in Premiership football. Didn’t Chelsea before that have yet another one, whose name escape me, lively and great stats playing 10 or SS in German league, who was so poor in the Prem he ended up playing for Spurs?

        2. And to add, I’m not a fan of back 3 at all. You need particular players who can play centre back and wing back. For centre back, the ability to play midfield, and know how not to leave the hole in front of defence and midfield overwhelmed, but step into the midfield holes. And if you have two good wing backs either side, but a big drop off if they are not playing, round pegs in square holes really hurts three at the back.
Chelsea have a lot of players will transferrable skills, some could slot into the system very well. But what I took from their Brentford game, chasing the cleanie they had palmer working hard dropping deep for defensive work compared to other games, soon as they had ball back, he was deep, and a bit more tired expending energy defending, so their counter attacks lacked the usual speed and energy.

          Alonso is extremely likeable though.

  3. Are they having a bubble? This idea must be being circulated by whoever signed Wirtz for Liverpool.

We’re Holborn viaduct if there’s any truth to this.
