Arsenal face a choice if they want to buy Zaha, sell Aubameyang

The BBC’s David Ornstein has revealed that Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is keen on the joining Arsenal.

However, for that to happen the club will have to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang according to the same report.

Basically, Arsenal would have to sell either Lucas Torreira or Aubameyang claims Ornstein, however, the club are reluctant to allow Torreira to go which leaves the Gabon international as the only realistic alternative.

That is a hell of a dilemma for the club and one which is sure to split the fans.

It takes some doing selling a Golden Boot winner that has been a complete success ever since he arrived.

But at the same time, he is 30-years-old, whereas Zaha is just 26 and in excellent form.

That said, even though he was young Zaha did fail at Man Utd and it is a different ball game playing for a Top-Six club compared to a mid-table team.

For this to happen Arsenal are going to have to walk a very tricky path, the last thing they want to do is alienate the fanbase more than it already has.

The bottom line for the fans is would they be happy to swap Aubamyenag for Zaha? Because that is what it basically boils down to.

  1. I really want Zaha… stop toying with me – first Martin, now Ornstein! And to now say Zaha is keen on a move!! This is torturous… ?

    1. I’m surprised because he faced a death threat from a Gooner once. But I believe he would be very useful for us in getting free-kicks, due to his tricks

I highly doubt the transfer would happen though, because Zaha would cost more than 60 M

Arsenal would most likely get one of Real Madrid’s wingers because of Hazard’s transfer or Malcom from Barcelona

  2. An older worker must eventually be replaced by a younger one. Aubameyang scored plenty of goals, but he rarely did it with his own effort and that was why he is famous with tap-ins

We cannot even return to the Champions League with his two-digit goals. Whereas Zaha would offer more variations in attacking as what Sanchez gave us and I urge Arsenal to gamble on him

The only problem in selling Aubameyang is we would need to replace him with a tall target man or a false nine that is more dominant in the air

    1. We paid £60m for him yet it’s been made to look like he’s doing us a favour.Hes been missing several chances and goes missing in several big games.
Luckily for him Unai Emery also realized he was poor on the wing and started using him more in his original position. Its a real shame stats doesn’t tell the whole story because Laca has had a better season than Aubameyang even though Aubameyang scored more goals than him

  3. Why can’t we sell Mkhitaryan , Mustafi, Elneny, Jenkinson … And further send Emile Smith Rowe on loan to Crystal Palace to bring Zaha… That sounds like a better plan than selling Auba

    1. We should even add iwobi + money and send Emily smith on loan to get Zaha then clear those of mkitarian orzil mustafi and jenkinson then replace Ramsey with HAKIM, Add one central defender+left wing and stop Torreira business, We will be done with transfer.

    2. Dont ever sell your highest goal scorer Auba, sell toriera thats better n get a tall player to replace him. Is not easy to replace Auba I tell u

    3. Because nobody wants Miki or Mustafi. Nor Ozil. Elneny and Jenko can hardly fund a Zaha bid even if somebody wanted them.

    4. Zaha will make Arsenal fearsome again…. That guy is always punishing us so we must get him by hook or by crook.

  4. Should have been selling ozil and buy zaha or buy another good winger. But the truth is that nobody wants him, and it’s not because of his salary but because he just can’t play anymore. And the only reason he plays it’s because arsenal wants to sell him but no buyers. Really sad!!

  5. Deleted for using personal abuse and 100% capitals. I would also suggest using the link in the article.

  6. I am not Aubameyang’s biggest fan but I would not sell him to sign Zaha though Zaha is absolutely what we need. Why?This is because he is not worth £50m or above. He is extremely limited but a world class dribbler and would probably create many chances for our players but buying Zaha for £50m or above is daylight robbery the same way I believed Lemar for £50m was daylight robbery not to talk of £92m.
We need to outsmart the market and that involves looking for value for money. We are in for a rude awakening if we sign him for that amount

  7. Saha is overpriced based on his output and is overhyped with a big ego in my opinion. Signing Saha would be “putting too many of Arsenal’s limited eggs in one basket”.
I would prefer Ryan Fraser from Bournmouth, a better performer last season and a player, who has the potential for improvement at Arsenal and appears to be a hard worker looking to move to the next level. He and Tierney from Celtic would give Arsenal a strong left hand side of the pitch.
I have no objection to selling Aubameyang provided the money is appropriate (£80 million+ for a golden boot winner) and the funds reinvested to fix deficiencies elsewhere (defense, midfield, wide attackers) in the squad.

    1. Tottaly agree with kev & ozziegunner. 50m is too much and Ryan Fraser seems like a better alternative (equally talented, enjoyed a good season, PL proven, and his contract is up next year so the fee is more affordable)

    2. Completely agreed with you on overhyped but. A player who @ 27 had his best season which was slightly better than what Iwobi had for PEA. This is most stupid idea ever.

    3. Agree. Fraser would be a better signing than Zaha. It would be outrageous for us to pay CP’s asking price. We would then have leftover money to get a good Ramsey replacement as well. What are we thinking blowing it all on Zaha? Totally okay w/ selling Auba as well if he is going to let his deal go into the final year. We should offer him a contract extension and if he refuses to sign, he is on the market. This is how we need to behave. No more letting players go for cheap and run down contracts.

  8. I will take zaha over Aubameyang.. over is only good as a finisher but below average with the ball at his feet. Zaha will win penalties and free kicks and will perfectly suit emery-ball.. sell Aubameyang get zaha and a young striker..

  9. Sadly I am being deleted for pretty basic criticism of some of these posts. It seems that admin is trying to stop me. Hopefully you will see through the admins attempt to stifle my critique of this journalism. To honesty and truth. Fine if you cut me off for reasonable comment

    1. You have a choice now Sean, either critique without personal abuse or I will suspend you from the site, you cannot say you have not been warned. I take criticism on here every single day but not personal abuse.

      1. There is not an iota of personal abuse whatsoever. I am critiquing these post which is fair and proper.

        1. I will not enter into a debate on this Sean, stop the personal abuse when criticising an article, a simple request

  10. You should be ashamed of yourself ic you want Arsenal to sell Auba for Zaha…

What those Zaha offers aside from his tricky toes?… E had Benteke, The guy from Chealsea and Andre Ayew at his disposal yet he is not even near 1st 5 for assist ranking, I doubt if he is in 1st 10 of goal ranking…

What he offers is diving, instigating fowls and running like a headless chicken. What is the difference between Zaha and Iwobi?

Auba is a brand and he guarantee goals… That is the job of a striker irrespective of how he puts the ball in the net… That is the main goal.

As Good as Lacazet is there is no guarantee he can deliver 20plus goal with Zaha in the team

I don’t even want to see him In the team.

I’d rather see Frasier and Hakim Ziyech for his price or chukwueze… This are the productive once they guarantee you assist and goals combined

    1. What is the difference between iwobi and Zaha ?
Quite a bloody lot speed ,trickery knows how to score
Can actually cross a ball not like a 5year old
      A front 3 of Auba,laca ,and Zaha would be a dream .

          1. Sue I understand you following all Arsenal players in their respective Nations… Not sure if you watch the match though…

I kind of get this excitement watching one of our own represent their countries

          2. Mihado.. I watched the last 30 minutes (it was on Eurosport) you know it’s crap if it’s on there ? I just thought I’d tune in as TH14 said Iwobi was tearing it up… hmmm I’m not so sure ?

      1. Sorry but how is a front three of Zaha,Auba and Laca a dream. Why should Arsenal buy two CF’s for £50m and £60m respectively and play one on the wing while there we millions of better wingers than both??

      2. If he knows the back of the net he should be scoring 10goals with his amount of playing time… I doubt if he scored 5 goals this past season

          1. Playing more games I guess… And he is supposed to be the talisman in the team whom they rely on… Iwobi is not relied upon and not a talisman either

  11. As long as it’s not to Utd then I’d accept selling auba to finance zaha. Age is on zahas side but auba has just 2/3 in the epl. Worth the risk of say.

    1. I’m not all for sell PeA and buy Zaha the same amount but sell to buy reasonably. There are several wingers who will provide more than Zaha will give for less money. We were sleeping when Borussia Dortmund bought Brandt and Hazard. Those players are good opinions. I won’t even mind Bailey, Adama, Romanian Coman, Brazils Everton and some of the France Under 21 wingers as long as some money left for other positions.

  12. No deal. Zaha in for Auba going out is a horrendous bit of business. If we are to move forward we should not be selling our top goal scorer.

  13. Plenty of players we can sell to get funds:
    Sell Ozil,
    Mkhitaryan,
    Xhaka,
    Mustafi,
    Elneny
even Iwobi, Chambers but NOT Aubameyang

Let’s keep our best players for a change ie Aubameyang, Lacazette, Torreira, Guendouzi

    1. There has to be demand for those players. There are not. It’s like demanding LFC should’ve sold Lallana instead of Coutinho. Auba and Lacazette are our own two players worth any substantial amount of money.

  14. Zaha would simply not replace the goals Auba scored/scores. By all means bring Zaha in to strengthen the left side but to the detriment of a 25+ goal scorer is crazy. We need to strength. The overall squad otherwise they will be blowing like they did at the end of last season.

Hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather and the WWOC

    1. ?@Sue he didn’t have a good game, I bet he was almost sub off b4 you tune in… But hey be honest I know you feel good seeing him on the pitch again

      1. I was looking on Twitter before I tuned in & the comments about Iwobi told me everything I needed to know..
Haha what made you think that? ?

        1. It is obvious when you are an Arsenal lover not just a fan…

The sight of seeing your player on the pitch trigger that feeling of wanting every player to pass the ball to him

  15. I will prefer Fraser and Ziyech any day over Zaha. He has good tricks in him but he hangs onto the ball without knowing when to release it. Fraser is far more productive and will cost less. With some addition to the Zaha fee we can get both Fraser and Ziyech.

  16. I’d sell Auba but not throw it all at Zaha. Get Fraser, and another decent CM the replace Ramsey. Zaha is not worth close to what Palace are valuing him at. And guys, remember Auba is 30, has 2 years left on his contract. last chance to sell him at a high price. You all complain about Arsenal letting players go for free, or close to nothing, yet you want the club to hold onto Auba so he can do the same thing Ozil just did. Make up your mind ppl. Either Auba signs an extension, or he gets sold. That’s the way I see it.

  17. So spuds are about to sign ndombele for £65 m
After building a 1billion pound stadium

    Anyone feel shortchanged

    1. Emirates business model was pure poop. Let’s be blatantly honest. Juventus also have a relatively new stadium and can compete financially. We all just believed the terrible excuses from Gazidis and Wenger for years. And yes, I’m aware Spurs went 2 windows without signing anybody, but 65mill is a substantial fee and their stadium delay was significant. Imagine if that happened to Emirates. We’d still be buying Chamakh’s.

  18. I thought it was said, once the new stadium was built, AFC would be able to compete financially with the other “big clubs”? And, that was before the massive TV $ deal . . . . !!!

  19. Hmmm, so we are worried that spuds are buying a player for £65,000,000?
Divide that by the two seasons they didn’t buy anyone, that’s £32,500,000 …THEN take into account the money they are expecting from the sale of Erickson and is anyone still feeling short changed?

We are having to pay £15,000,000 a year until 2031 in interest from the building of the Emirates,so imagine just what it is going to cost spuds!!!

That was why the CL was so important for our club, but some of you never did and never will appreciate this achievement.

The average worth just qualifiying for the CL knock out stages is £50,000,000 (wickipedia) so take that into context when decrying our past achievements, one day it might just sink in!!!

      1. Sue, it’s like beating your head against a brick wall!!!

Are ANY of these doom and gloom merchants really supporters of The Arsenal?

At every single opportunity they bring in negative thoughts and then either congratulate their own posts, or each other for seeing the”real” picture!!!

The spud rumoured signing is a classic, never looking past the headline and not even thinking why, if it’s true, how they can achieve it.

Instead, as usual, up comes AW, gazidis, the stadium and the players we can’t sell.
The fact that the club has not listed any player for sale is, supposedly, irrelevant.

Are you going to the Emirates cup?…I am because the club is about to fall around our ears and they need my £22.00!!!

  20. You speak so much sense though, Ken.. you see the whole picture & explain it all perfectly! Me, on the other hand, have been guilty of not looking past the headline & then the pessimist inside me surfaces (until I read your posts ?)
Haha nice one, Ken! Yes maybe they could use my money too ?

  21. As Simon cowel would say “it’s a no from me”.
    Could Zaha strengthen us absolutely.
Is it would sacrificing Abu absolutely not.
We need players to come in and complement our 2 up front. Not exchange for.
Agree that fraser and zily from ajax could help do that.
    We need to add.

  22. No club in their right mind would pay the DAFT asking price for Zaha, let alone our skinflint owner. This is not going to happen and is not worth taking seriously therefore. So much time is spent on rumours and articles stating this or that player wants to come to us and I allow that Zaha quite likely does want to come. But it is not going to happen. THAT IS OBVIOUS IF ONE IS REALISTIC AND LOOKS SOBERLY AT HOW OUR OWNER BEHAVES. Zaha IS worth buying at around 40mill but that is not going to happen. I SUGGEST THAT YOU ALL ,IN YOUR HEART OF HEARTS, KNOW THAT FULL WELL. SO NEXT TOPIC PLEASE! THIS one is a dead parrot. No use us pining for the fjords then!

  23. We don’t need a 80m rated Zaha. I truly believe next year will be Iwobi’s best year! Buy Fraser for the right flank, replacements for Ramsey, Özil, Koscienly, Mustafi, Cech. Sell the deadwood, keep the few good players!
