Arsenal fans having a laugh at Liverpool over Ox transfer?

When Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain turned down a new contract offer from Arsenal this summer, worth something like £180,000 a week according to some Arsenal transfer rumours, it was a real kick in the teeth for the Gunners and Arsene Wenger who appeared to be bending over backwards to please the England international and persuade him to stay, even moving Hector Bellerin to the left to accommodate the wantaway player.

I would love to see what Wenger is thinking right now, wouldn’t you? Probably chuckling heartily into a glass of claret if he watched that Liverpool cup game at Leicester I reckon. Is the Ox having regrets already do you think? Apparently the main reason why the Ox turned down his offer from Arsenal was so he could play in the middle.

I am sure he was not thinking it would be the middle of a disaster though, or perhaps a toilet, but that is what our former star has got himself into it seems. It must make it worse for the Ox that the side he left has gone from strength to strength(go with me on this guys) since his transfer while his new club have yet to win a game since and were just knocked out of the League cup by a second string Leicester City.

At least Chambo finally got to start this cup game, and why they have named it after a big north American mammal is a mystery to me, but maybe he wishes he had not started or been anywhere near the place. After his performance he might not be starting any more games for a while so he should have plenty of time to reflect.

Wild blasts over the bar, poor passing, ineffective runs and all the things Arsenal fans have got used to over the years were on show from the former Gunner tonight and I am not sure when I have enjoyed a game quite as much. There was a moment when Jurgen Klopp looked at him as if to say, ‘what the hell have I just paid nearly £40 million for’.

Of course I would not be slamming the guy if he was still a Gunner but he is not and that was his choice so for now I am going to enjoy every little piece of his and his new team’s predicament.

All together now Gooners, to the tune of My Way….regrets, I’ve had a few….

Bob.

    1. it shows how bad they are, it just that winger is covering them… most of our players are below average… it only winger

  1. Good riddance to bad rubbish. ???
Only time will tell for how long Liver”f-ol” fans and manager will endure poor Ox. Now Ox will appreciate the kid gloves treatment at Arsenal despite 6 repeated years of shambolic performance with only few flashes of above average display

  2. There is a part of me that is enjoying Liverpool’s struggles at the moment. So many pundits and even so-called supporters seem to enjoy it when Arsenal struggles, seeing their golden boy Jurgen Klopp and the team many picked to replace Arsenal in the top 4 does feel a little like justice; but that’s being petty.

The truth is, Klopp is a good manager and Liverpool are a good team, but like Arsenal, the Reds cannot compete for the top talent. Coutinho, if he stays healthy, will go just like Sanchez, if he stays injury free, will go. Both want-aways may regret swapping their star roles at their current clubs for bit-parts at Barcelona, Real Madrid, or elsewhere. I am predicting a Fabregas/van Persie turn for both. Expect Sanchez to pull a van Persie, two good years followed by exile to Russia or Turkey due to his huge wages and waning skills. Coutinho will play for Barcelona, but he won’t star; much like Cesc.

For the Ox, I have to say, he moved for the right reasons. In this Arsenal team he would always be in and out of the starting XI. He’s not a star, but he’s more than a squad player. The idea that Klopp will make him better than Arsene Wenger is silly, but he may get more chances. He’s a better player than Lallana, Henderson or Emre Can in central midfield, but he won’t supplant Coutinho, Mane, Firmino, or Salah; they’re jsut better than he is.

    1. klopp is a poor man’s Arsene wenger bro too much emphasis but no emphasis on defending, rodgers has done better than klopp but no one wants to admit that.

  3. Ox was a real hope and promise at some point, impressive power wonder kid; then he got played out of position when played. When we sign youngsters as him, we should let them at their club where they are just blowing up to get to fuller potential, progress where they play; then it is more chance to play them there at Arsenal or he ends up right back. This kid really lost a lot of his confidence and game that way; he didn’t just lose such a potential.. So, let’s hope he gets a chance in his new club, to bash him is useless and wrong as playing him right back; pretty deep and out there for sure ! Unless Liverpool plays him in center, he won’t take Salah or Mane spots on wings. He is really like a lost kid, even that red shirt doesn’t look right, he pretty much ran out of here… Wish him best….

  4. I have said Ox had a better chance to play his desired position at arsenal than any team in the top six, his skill set fits a wide player, his notion of being like his idol Steven Gerard is rather non-sensical and leaving the pampered world of arsenal, shall only widen his eyes to the reality of cut-throat real world.

There are some points i think he has not taken into consideration, he runs the risk of losing his place in the England squad because he will get even less game time at Liverpool, which will affect world cup dreams. Also, Ox will find it even more difficult to even return to the bench once he gets injured and comes back after recovery, while at arsenal he got the free run.

But it is what he and his advisors want, so i wish him all the best

  5. 132 appearances, and only 9 goals to show for it. Koscielny has 17 g’s in 216 app’s. Just think about that for a second. Ox is a BUM. Always was, is, and always will be. I have no doubt that this whole 180k per week thing was a hoax to dupe Pool into buying this joke of a player. Well done, Mr. Wenger, well done.

  6. I love it when Liverpool struggle. Ox has gone to s ‘better club’ supposedly so let him rot there on the bench! He should have known he wouldn’t start every game plus there are players there who he wouldn’t replace, so he may start to realise that the grass isn’t greener on the other side!
Oh well we’re saving 60k a week in wages!

  7. Liverpool fans are convinced former Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has brought ‘curse’ from the Emirates to Anfield after suffering their second defeat in four games since his arrival from the Emirates stadium.

  8. He must enjoy the new club with great players togetherness and love and also with good coach who can take him further as he mentioned after an hour training. i thought Ox now he is feeling it where he had all this but after joining Liverpool arsenal never been good for him that is why Henry questioned his comments. Bad luck will follow up untill he cut his head off . Players who left arsenal in a nasty way they hardly succeed and last long to the club .

After this awful game he will sit on bench until he cries.

  9. The only thing funnier than this would be if, instead of £40 million, we had charged them £40 million and one.

  10. Leave Chamberlain alone…………..he was stagnant at Arsenal……….and Wenger did not help by how he used him…………he played him out of position too many times……….his move was a must…….he needed to try his luck somewhere else………..why are Arsenal fans harassing him?……….after all he left Southampton to join us………….his future or decisions are his to make……not Arsenal and its fans…………

    1. Ox wanted to play CM, he had to develop to get that spot and Wenger wanted to develop him.
The wing was for him to get used to going past his man and to get experience at that, look at how Cazorla can step past his man and how good that was for us in the middle.

Ox was always poor at defending, him playing RWB where he was expected to defend a bit more but not being a RB, this should have been the period where he learns his def duties ready to be moved into the middle.

Wenger moved TH14 from CF to winger at Monaco and then later from winger back to CF at Arsenal, sometimes playing in different roles can provide an education which sets you up in your preferred role.

I actually do not mind kids playing in different positions, like Nelson at RWB, that could help him with pressing and become more of a complete player. He will make an excellent AM if he can learn to defend as soon as we lose the ball, I would be very happy if Nelson was used more to give Bellerin rests at RWB.

It is when half the team is playing out of pos that frustrates me.
