Arsenal forward line to face Sheff Utd – Will Lacazette return?

Alexandre Lacazette is back from injury but will he feature against Sheff Utd on Monday evening.

The short answer, in my opinion, is that the Frenchman will feature against the Blades but not start the game. Unai Emery is not one for taking unnecessary risks and I just cannot see him starting Lacazette from the get-go.

Sheffield United can be tough opponents and I expect the game to be physical and Emery probably does as well. Would he risk bringing back a player fresh from injury against such an opponent? I don’t think so.

Therefore if Lacazette is to start on the bench who will Emery start with upfront then?

I think most of us will agree that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe will start and so it is just the one spot we are talking about. For me, there is only one real contender and that is Bukayo Saka.

So, the frontline I expect Emery to go with is Pepe, Aubameyang and Saka. However, Emery does like to surprise us and it would not be a huge shock to see him pick Ceballos or even Ozil just behind Pepe and Auba.

But all things considered, my guess is that the boss will stick with the front three that he went with against Bournemouth and Manchester United.

Depending on how the game unfolds I would expect to see Lacazette brought on as a sub, probably for Saka. If Arsenal is comfortable it could be a late sub but could easily change if the game is a struggle.
