Arsenal forward speaks out about exit speculation

Rodrigo Fernandez Lavelle has moved to deny reports linking Lucas Perez with a potential loan exit from Arsenal.

The Spanish forward joined the club in a £17 Million move from Deportivo La Coruna this summer, but has struggled for regular first-team action, and is now sidelined with an injury.

Perez has since returned to his La Coruna to continue his rehabilitation from said injury, which has led to claims that he is unhappy with his new club, and could be seeking a loan move in order to secure more regular action.

Lavelle has now moved to rubbish such claims, and insists his client is simply injured and focussed on playing for Arsenal.

“He’s not playing because he is injured,” Llovelle told Italian website Calcio Mercato.

“He has no intention of leaving, Arsenal and Wenger are very happy with him. Maybe try asking them!

“He’s only thinking about Arsenal at the moment.”

Perez is currently third in-line for a role at centre-forward, but has been fielded on the wide left this term, and may find himself being played out of his favoured role if he is to break into the first-team squad.

Danny Welbeck is also set to return in the coming weeks, and will also provide further competition for the central role, as well as the wider attacking places, which may well push Lucas further down the pecking order.

Will Welbeck be eased back into regular action? If Welbeck returns with the form he had last season, where would he fit into our starting XI? Will we be able to keep all our squad players happy this season?

  1. As long as we have Sanchez and Giroud all healthy and fine, Perez can stay injuried as much as he wants, as he was bought to sit on the bench.

  2. I wish Perez had been given a chance as centre-foeward before even Sanchez. He was scoring goals for fun last season but he hasn’t even had a chance to get into his stride since arriving.
    And its nearly December!

  3. When is Welbeck back? Things are starting to get crowded round here. Wenger, like any good manager, has got his work cut out for him if everyone is going to stay happy. I could definitely see Akpom and Holding out on loan after Christmas.

  4. OT I’ve been watching dortmund play a couple of times this season and am watching them trashing legia in the UCL. I must say I’m really impressed with Thomas tuchel. I don’t know bout u guys but he is growing to become my favourite replacement for wenger in the future.
