Arsenal given big EPL title backing from unexpected source

It is understandable that some Arsenal fans and former players, as well as Arsene Wenger and the current playing squad, are hanging on to the hope that Arsenal can go on a great run and over the next eight Premier League games catch and overtake the two clubs above us in the table.

But you would not expect our rivals to give us much of a chance, so it was interesting and very surprising to hear the thoughts of Teddy Sheringham on the EPL title race which the Daily Star has reported. The former England striker played for two of our biggest rivals during his career, Manchester United when they an us were the two teams fighting it out for the crown every year and before that for our north London rivals when they were nowhere near as usual.

And it is the fact that the spuds and Leicester have been nowhere near for as long as we can remember that gives the Gunners the edge. Sheringham reckons that the pressure is really going to crank up and those clubs that have no experience of dealing with it are likely to come unstuck.

He said, “They have been there before, they know what it takes.

“For Leicester and Spurs, this is new territory. The closer the end of the season comes, the more nerve will be a factor.

“Experience is key in this situation – and that is why I would not rule Arsenal out of contention. They know what it takes.

“They have won the title and know all about the pressure. And they are still up there, despite numerous injuries.”

Nice one Teddy, now can Arsenal go and prove him right?

  1. Don’t worry a backing from Teddy “Bear” sheringham and Queen ELizabeth will win us the League…

Not what we do on the pitch…

    .
    ffs!….

  2. “They have won the title and know all about pressure ”

Yes. Over 12 years ago. A lot has changed since then. Like Wenger’s philosophy and sanity.

    1. When Wenger said “4th place is like a trophy” that’s when I knew he had lost it totally and he no longer has a philosophy that will take the team forward

      1. I think that comment is based on Arsenals “business plan” written by kroenke. Top four in PL and last 16 in CL. ”

If you want to win championships you would never get involved”. By “you” kroekle means himself. Abramovich and Sheik Mansour do want to win championships, Kroenke wants to make money.

Us fans each have to make up our own mind if we are going to pay top money to watch matches where top four is good enough. Players will have to decide if they want to play for Arsenal in these circumstances.

  3. But how has our current squad of player’s got experience of winning the premier league? ?

And please remind me, how many times have they bottled it, when presented with numerous opportunities to go top this season?

    Yeah, Exactly!
The only time our boy’s become fearless, is when Wenger’s 4th place trophy is in danger of being lost.

    1. In this squad only Petr Cech has won the premier league before, this squad has no experience that’s why they are bottlers of note!

  4. I usually hate international week because it’s so boring with no Arsenal matches and always worried about Arsenal players getting injuries but i admit I was happy to see England beat Germany 🙂

Hodgson should drop Rooney and take Vardy, Kane, Welbeck and Sturridge lol.

  5. we had already lost the title when
Wenger refused to sign an outfield player in summer
Cazorla alexis and coquelin got injured
We gave theo arteta flamini and rosicky new contracts.
we lost to westham southampton westbrom swansea and man united kids

  6. Based on recent form it is Arsenal who will bottle it. Look at the desire in the leicester and tottenham players in the england germany match.
