Why can Liverpool and Chelsea sell their players and we can’t. Both recouped over 200 mil this window. There is a massive problem.
A great example would be some of our players getting close to 30, who’s injury record is worsening.
Trossard for example, I like him and what he brings, but raising his wages on a contract carrying him until he is 32 years old I believe.
Perhaps we should have sold him, when we cn get 20 – 25 million for his transfer. However, waiting until he is 31 or 32 how much can we expect to get?
Gabriel Jesus and his constant injuries, probably should have been sold last year when rumors of an offer around 30 million came in. Now, another knee injury, unproven fitness record, how much can his transfer bring in now?
Unfortunately we hang on to players too long, and their value eventually drops, a big reason why we don’t see the returns like Chelsea and Liverpool. Zinchenko is another to add to the list, no takers yet for around 15 million, half of what we paid.
Kiwior is ripe to sell now for a profit, time will tell whether we do or not.
Cherry picking?🤣 Laconga, Viera, Nelson? Off the top of my head. I am sure there are more. Liverpool sold a player with no Premier league experience last week for 25 mil.
Our most expensive sale is the Ox.
Agreed @Reggie, but I think Berta is probably trying to address that. I believe this window alone Arsenal has already rejected some offers for Kiwior and Viera because they were deemed not good enough. Now that tells me, Arsenal are no longer selling for the sake of moving out players. There’s a strong stance now, soon we’ll see the results of what Berta is trying to achieve.

Arsenal are selling seasoned internationals which are in their prime for peanuts. That is nothing to rejoice about. Zinchenko is like 27 years old and Kiwior is younger and showed how good he was last season. That is a £40-£60m player right there in today’s market.
I’m with you on this one. We can’t even sell good players for good profits like other clubs.
Until the purchases this season, I always felt the first 11 as good as picked itself, whereas now, Arteta is in a stronger position to rotate in the knowledge that the team has superior players everywhere.
Kiwior did ok when called upon and at the time Zinchenko was a first teamer. My point being, that we haven’t previously been in a position to have high value players on our books in any great number. It’s been the slow process (not phase) of going from a team that were lucky to win the FACup – all about timing – to where we are now. Regardless of anybody’s views on Ozil and PEA – both had been big time players- the reality was it was a very mixed bag which feels like we persuaded ourselves was better than it actually was. No Kane, Gareth Bale or Coutinho – instead, Chambers and Holding, Nketiah etc.
