Arsenal injuries ease as we enter a month from hell

Poor Arsenal have been suffering desperately from injuries for so long we have forgotten what our proper defensive line-up should look like, but with a glut of very tough fixtures coming up it is great to see that our injury crisis could be coming to an end at last. Arsenal.com has finally reported that these Gunners are all now back in training….

Hector Bellerin – Returned to full training. (Left calf)
Laurent Koscielny – Returned to full training. (Back spasm during warm-up at Blackpool)
Dinos Mavropanos – Returned to full training. (Groin)
Shkodran Mustafi – Returned to full training. (Right hamstring)
Nacho Monreal – Returned to full training. (Right hamstring)
Mesut Ozil – Returned to full training. (Left knee)

That is a full back line of defenders back in contention for our month from hell coming up. Hopefully most of them can get some matchplay against West Ham, although some, like Mavropanos, may need a bit longer after a long time on the sidelines, but with the massive home game against Chelsea the following week we will need as many of our big guns back as possible. A win against them could see us bang back in contention for the Top Four…

The following weekend will see us take on a resurgent Man United for a place in the next round of the FA Cup, then after a little respite against Cardiff, we then have our hardest game in the next month away at Manchester City. Pep’s side are back on song after a blip and will be all out to catch Liverpool at the top of the table. We should have no problem beating West Ham and Cardiff, but who would like to predict the results of the other three matches?

    1. I can confirm from very reliable sources that Denis Suarez is now a gooner. Arsenal has secured a loan deal with an obligation to buy in the summer. Official announcement to be made by weekend as Suarez is expected to be involved in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey match against Levante today after he was named in the 18-man squad for the match at Valencia before completing the formalities of his move to London. Finally some good news guys.

        1. Look senorita…. I know people who knows people ok? and when I tell ya it’s a done deal, be sure you can put all your money in it.

          Facts ? ? ?

          1. Geez??‍♂??‍♂ the last thing we need on this blog now is A Kev version 2.0 …. Give it a break please

  1. Glad to hear that Bellerin and Mustafi have returned to full training, as they are Arsenal’s backbone players

To compensate for the injury woes and the penny-pinching policy, Arsenal had better promote more young players

A big European football club like Arsenal should be able to produce their own top talents, like what they did in the past with Adams, Keown, Parlour and Cole

    1. Im also glad to see Bellerin and Mustafi back and I was looking forward to Holding and Mavrapanos playing together at the heart of our defence but that won’t be happening this season. Yes we need to play more youngsters.

  2. Would love to see Mavropanos get a game with Sokratis at some point ?
So glad Mesut & Hector are back – missed you guys!
Yes we should beat Cardiff (?) West Ham away won’t be easy, fingers crossed though! I definitely want to send the Mancs crashing out!! COYG

    1. Same here, Sue, I’m happy for Ozil and Hector, I saw a piece on Sky Sports on how kolasinac has been shouldering Arsenal’s chance creation in Ozil’s absence, the article mentioned how much he’s been involved in goals through pre assists, assists and chance creation.
Bellerin at his best can do that on the right also, and with ozil in the middle, enough balls can be provided for both of them.

Especially Kolasinac, he attacks so well and drives at the goal, not to the line.

    2. I think Mavropanos will be perfect next to Sokratis. Both speak the same language and both are naturally physical defenders.

Looking forward to seeing if they can build that partnership till the end of the season.

We need a consistent CB partnership, even Sokratis has mentioned that in a interview 2 weeks ago.

Just hope our defense can hold firm until the end of the season, hopefully no more injuries, im still confident we can make top 4.

  3. Yes, Sue. Would very much love to see that happen!

Great to see our boys come back from the treatment table in their numbers. Let’s hope the worst is over for us this season, as far as injuries are concerned. Now we can hope to have the best represent us in every match. Maybe we can even go on another good run…

Not too much to ask, is it?

  4. I don’t know….
I’m just not that excited by the return of (and lets be honest here) players who are a little error prone.
But the good thing is – we have bugger all money to sign players !
What a wonderfully well run club Arsenal is.
    I feel sympathy for Emery…

      1. Then don’t read them – very simple…
I am just saying it as it is – as Emery quoted on BBC Sport.
And believe me, reading your posts is even more of a struggle…

    1. Error prone?… Still we manage to be unbeaten with those error prone for 22match…imagine if there were not injured that would be 20%Improvement on our defense interns of understanding each other… I for one am so glad they are back… The best team a manager can have is to have variety of players to chose from… That was the reasons for super sub we had during those runs

        1. Some are easily satisfied
Sue did u know that we are allowing Ramsey to leave for free yet his stat for the last two years even though he’s played less is better than ozil and Xhaka

          1. What do you want the board to do, hold a gun to Ramsey’s head and make him sign? The biggest mistake that the board could make right now is not letting Ramsey leave for free, it would be to back track on their decesion to let him leave. The board cannot keep rewarding contract rebels with high wages that would set an expensive precedence we cannot afford in future, unless you don’t mind having everyone on £350k a week in which case then yes, the board should just throw money at Ramsey’s feet and beg him to stay. Please remember the other players are watching negotiations and if it becomes clear stalling on contracts is how you make triple wages then you can bet these contract problems will plague forever. It’s time the board shut this sh*t down and I for one fully support this BRILLIANT decesion to not cave into the demands of an already well paid player.

            1. QD, I totally agree with your assessment; Ramsey has refused to sign a new contract for over 18 months. He and his agent have manipulated his way out of the Club on a free to get a big pay day. There was no consideration of any loyalty due to Arsenal carrying him through his injury period; a ruthless club would have off loaded him years ago.
I wish him all the best fighting for a place in the Juventus midfield and compares notes with Jack Wilshere.
Thank goodness Raul has said that players, who don’t re sign prior to the 18 months left on their contracts will be sold.

          2. I also remember you agreeing that he was a dross weedy player and one of AW’s favourites.
So you should be over the moon about the situation, after all it was what you wanted.

Joke club? Your the joke fan who stated that we only beat Chelsea in the cup final because they were out celebrating winning the league the night before.

I value Sue’s opinions more than a joker who is so negative he comes up with classic statements like that.

Why do you even bother, it must be so depressing?
First the manager, then the club, then the season ticket holders and now Sue!!!
Go out and have a few beers, go on ENJOY YOURSELF and stop saving up for your season ticket.
You know it makes sense ??????

                1. Yes Sue and Ken , he trolls, just look at his posts. Doesn’t debate just comes on every now and again and has a little dig, usually contradicting something he said weeks ago!

                  1. GB what a sad existence he must have.
I don’t remember one positive post from this guy, makes me think he must be a blue nose from down the road!!

                    1. Well said Ken, have a go at our Sue, she’s the most respectful person on these pages, he also trolled me a while back. mind you, he’s only a boy, he’ll learn when he gets older

          3. John0711 I left that comment to Mihado as he questioned the error prone comment…. there are a few ‘fans’ on here that never have anything positive to say about the club! Even when we win… the same old negative crap!! Obviously not supporters… just trolls

          4. Morning john0711
No offence John but having better stats against the other 2 shouldn’t be that hard
1 is a total liability waiting to happen from the moment the whistle blows
The other only turns up 1 in 4 games.
            As for Ramsey
We wish him all the luck for the future
In my opinon has not turned out the player I expected when we first signed him due to one reason or another.
Always capable of getting the odd goal or two here and there but we need more from our midfield plyers now and not sure he fits the bosses profile.

  5. Seems we are the only club to have have the honours of playing the last two succeeding champions in Chelsea and Man. City back to back at the start of the season. Now we play them in reverse order, with an odd game against ‘beatable’ Cardiff in between. Curious.

  6. Glad rob, hector and nacho are back. Wot a relieve

Still need a strong CB, a n10, and 2 wingers
We will be sorted for the Top4

  7. The Arsenal PL match away to West Ham on Saturday is a match that I believe Arsenal will not take beating the West Hammers as a foregone victory conclusion over West Ham. For, the match being a PL match makes the outcome of the result in match uncertain. But the Gunners can make victory in the match over the West Hammers certain for Arsenal if Emery have the match strongly started in a 4-2-3-1 playing formation by the strong Gunners of:
    Leno;
    Bellerin Mustafi Sokratis Kolasinac;
    Torreira Xhaka;
    AMN Ozil Iwobi;
    Aubameyang.

    Bench:
Cech Koscielny Jenkinson Guendouzi Ramsey Willock Lacazette.

    1. Just seen that arsenal can’t afford to buy players only loans 6th richist club in the world and we can’t buy a player for 18 million god we or in s..t street buy buy arsenal sad sad days ahead

  8. It will be a great relief to not see Lichtsteiner in defence again. As terrible as Bellerin is, Lichtsteiner has simply redefined what it means to be an incompetent defender. I put him in the same league as Squillaci, Silvestre and Djorou. Finally, I would just like to comment on the Ramsey issue for the very last time and say I am absolutely satisfied with how the board has handled this Ramsey debacle. It’s time to bring some pride back to the club again, we can’t be begging players to sign all the time! If they want to leave, let them go!

    1. I know bellerin is not great defensively, but pls stop calling him terrible. Also, the best defenders aren’t known for their defensive prowess, Alonso isn’t the best defender, yet he’s won epl lb for the year twice, Marcelo is shit when it comes to defending but he’s been in ucl team of the year a few times, Dani alves, jordi Alba, Philip lahm, mendy, and so on. I read about pavard that Bayern just signed on duta, what was first listed as his strength was his intricate passing, so I believe if our midfielders do a good job keeping the ball and creating chances, our full backs will need to defend less.

Now, I’m not saying they shouldn’t be able to defend at all but pls, Bellerin isn’t good at defending, yes, but then, he isn’t terrible either.

And I totally agree with you on Arsenal’s decision on Ramsey, if he gets a massive pay rise, then stalling on contracts becomes a way of getting a massive pay rise for other players.

  9. Some fans really are funny in their assesment, tell me which ‘good suporter’ wouldnt be happy about the return of his beloved club injured player, error prone or not, these are starting 11, 85% of players on this list are our starters, on a good day when everyone is fit, this guys would start for us, so what is the negativity about?
Tell me any of ‘your big clubs’ that will survive with that much starting 11 guys on the treatment room, even city with the largest squard would strugle should larpote, and a few other starters are injured.
People moan here at our situation of been stucked by excess wage bill denying us of buying this january, but i see it as blessing in disguise, as we are know, january is tricky and to get value ,clubs has to dig extra cashes which we cant afford presently, so ill prefer we wait untill summer to do good business when the contract rebels and tired legs must have left.
I cant blame any1 for getting a player at a particular value, people on here questiin the morale behind Mustafi and xhaka prices of £35m, some say, the fee are outragoues as they feel the players dont worth that much, but i have to disagree, if l’pool bought Andy carol at £35m, chels bought a bench player in Morata @ 70m ,kepa 70m, uts Pogba and lukaku, just to mention a few, i cant just bring myself to say a player doesnt worth a particular fee, we have seen some players gotten free and sold high, some bought high and sold cheap, that is the business of footbal, it isnt hapening in arsenal alone, but when mistakes and mishandling becomes persistence, we call such imcopetence, more reason i blame ivan for most dealings

    1. Adajim, well said sir!!
We need to realise just what UE has had to put up with regarding injuries.
Your other points are also equally valid and worth remembering.
