Arsenal injury boost ahead of Man United match-up

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Lucas Perez, David Ospina and Shkodran Mustafi have returned to training this week.

The Gunners play host to Manchester United on Super Sunday in what could all-but end our hopes of finishing inside the top-four for the first time in 21 years.

Our rival’s boss is claimed to be looking to prioritise Thursday night’s Europa League, which could see a weakened side fielded against us, but we should try not to let that distract us from our goal.

We will need to be ready for whatever comes, and have been boosted by the return of Mustafi and Lucas Perez to our side.

The two summer signings have enjoyed mixed terms, with the latter impressing when playing, yet failing to break into Wenger’s first-team plans. Mustafi on the other hand has played a key role since joining from Valencia, but has been absent with a thigh injury, and is yet to be fielded in the new 3-4-2-1 system.

One player who may not make the tie is Granit Xhaka, who has been enjoying a run in the first-team of late after a questionable opening few months.

“Granit Xhaka is still out from the kick he got from the game and Shkodran Mustafi is back in normal training,” Wenger revealed.

“David Ospina is back and Lucas Perez is back in training but he will miss the next two days as he got a kick in training [on Wednesday].”

Will Mustafi’s return spell an end to the 3-4-2-1 system? Could he enjoy a role either side of Koscielny in a back three? Could Lucas enjoy a role in our front three this term?
