Arsenal injury update – Lucas Perez, Walcott, Giroud, Bellerin, Cazorla, Debuchy

Arsenal are known for their injury crisis around this time of year, so we thought we’d bring you an update on the latest issues regarding our squad.

Theo Walcott was taken off with 15 minutes to play on Sunday, before being seen nurturing his leg, although Arsene Wenger has insisted there is nothing to worry about concerning the England international.

The forward’s replacement against Bournemouth also appeared to end the game with an issue, which Wenger’s claims to be a possible hamstring issue. The Frenchman adds that they may have gotten lucky regarding Giroud however, but will have to keep an eye on him.

Another French player in Mathieu Debuchy also left the pitch early and he is expected to be ruled out for the foreseeable future. Wenger refused to guess just how long without results from scans which are expected to take 48 hours, and the defender looks likely to be sidelined again…

Debuchy had most likely been looking forward to a run in the first-team due to the absence of Hector Bellerin, but now looks likely to be unavailable until way beyond his return. The Spaniard revealed that he is expected to start running within the coming week, and will hopefully be ready to train within two weeks.

Cazorla is one player who we would like to hear more about, but he had not returned to training yet, and has not been given a return date as of yet. The Spaniard was meant to be back in training following the international break, but his recovery has not gone to plan as of yet.

Lucas Perez is back in training however and could even be set to take part against Southampton in midweek, and may well play an important role in the coming weeks if Olivier is ruled out.

How costly could Giroud’s absence be? Could Lucas take over as our super-sub?
