Arsenal keeper stars to hand Colombia a Copa America semi-final

The Arsenal and Colombian international keeper David Ospina did his reputation no harm whatsoever today, with his heroics in goal playing a huge part in putting his country into the semi-finals of the Copa America for the first time since 2004 and setting up a possible meeting with his Arsenal team mate Alexis Sanchez, whose Chile side face Mexico in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

If that does happen then Sanchez will have to be at his best to get the better of the in form Ospina, who is having a great tournament so far. The Arsenal man was on it again in the quarter-final against Peru and he needed to be, as Colombia struggled to produce much on the attacking side of things.

In fact it was a pretty lacklustre game which ended without a goal and was settled on penalties, with Ospina producing a fine save from Peru’s third which proved crucial. It nearly didn’t go to penalties, though, as Peru had a great chance to win it in the dying minutes and would have done so if not for superb work from our Gunner.

With Arsene Wenger facing the decision about whether Ospina or Wojciech Szczesny should be the back up to Petr Cech for Arsenal, the Colombian’s performances in America must surely have him leading the race, but can Szczesny hit back with Poland at Euro 2016?

  1. This LiL Looking Colombian shot stopper is too good to Let go!

[I would think thrice before considering doing business on his behalf!]

  2. He’s good but he should be let go.He deserves better than this.He and Szczesny should be sold. They are almost world class if not world class. They deserve better and deserve a team where they will be loved better and can do better.I wish them all the best.

  3. But to be very honest with you in terms of goalkeeping abilities i think Szczesny is better but what Ospina has over Szczesny is a calm and composed figure. If only Szczesny were to change would be far better. But i think they are both near to world class but we should not write off one of them because remember the one who is chosen if is willing to stay will be our future while the other one will be thought of us not having any future here. But remember this if you are destined for real greatness and you believe in it and you really work towards it you will be a star.Do not rule out any player for that matter cause where there is a will there is a way.

  4. Ospina was awesome for us in the 2014/15 season. He is far too good to sit on the bench. If he wants to go we should let him.
