Gabriel Martinelli has turned down a move to Galatasaray during this transfer window, but Arsenal have continued working on his departure from the club and have kept the door open for a transfer to take place. Martinelli has been an important player for the Gunners in recent seasons and contributed to their success last term, but the club now wants to revamp its left wing.
Arsenal have already replaced Leandro Trossard with Christos Tzolis after selling the Belgian to Besiktas, and the Gunners also want to offload Martinelli. The Brazilian and Gabriel Jesus have both been sidelined by the club, with Arsenal expecting to sell them during this transfer window.
Martinelli Left Out of Arsenal Squad

At 25, Martinelli could still secure a move to one of the major clubs in Europe’s top five leagues. His representatives are therefore working to find him an agreement with one of those clubs, while Arsenal will hope that a suitable offer arrives soon.

I kind of feel sorry for him, as I really don’t think he wants to leave, he’s just got married and looks like he wants to settle here.
I don’t say this emotionally, but the way Tzolis is playing, I wouldn’t mind if Martinelli stayed as second fiddle to Tzolis.
Initially I thought Tzolis was bough to be a backup to a big marquee signing.
Likely Martinelli will stay. And tbh he needs this move to reignite his career. He’d work much better in a different side, but I think he’s done all he can under Arteta’s side.
Kinda strange, because I would say Madueke is a lesser version of Martinelli; worse finisher and worse at dribbling down blind alleys. Secondly, watching them finish is a big difference as well. Noni is more likely to be replaced in the long run than “figure it out.”
If Martinelli is deemed “not good enough,” then why did the club spend 52 million on Madueke?
In short, rotation player for Saka that we couldn’t get for at least 2-3 seasons.
Saka has been so nailed-on as a first team player, we weren’t able to find/convince any buyable players to play the rotation role without a massive drop off in ability on that side. Madueke is in that regard a good catch. There’s a clear drop off when it comes to goal threat, but he’s actually quite similar to Saka in dribbling success rate and also offers us pace in transition. With the addition of Gyokeres a lot of what he should be doing is crossing into the striker. I saw him doing that during last season, but Gyok not arriving in the right place quickly enough. Hopefully better this season.
Next to that we’ve been training up youngsters like Nwaneri and Dowman who can help cover that position if needed. I think he’ll probably move on in a year if he doesn’t show more threat this season.
Hope we keep Martinelli now even if just primarily for the more open games in the Champions League. With his pace, he’s one of our best players for that. Also probably the best LW in the world at at helping stop opponents in transition.
If we can’t find an obvious upgrade on the market, I wouldn’t be against another player who could play both LW and RW rotational roles to gives us depth. Eze is not a pace merchant so we’d be missing that skillset, Calafiori might even be better with Hincapie behind him.
