Arsenal kick off against Sunderland – but where are the fans?

There have been rumours of Arsenal fans calling for season ticket holders to leave empty seats for tonight’s game against Sunderland, and there were some estimates saying that as many as 10,00 people would not turn up. But did anyone really believe that there would be that many empty seats?

Well here is the proof from one spectator at the game. He has taken a pic of the North Bank, which is traditionally the loudest support for the team. Look at how many seats are empty…..

I must admit I am shocked! I know Arsenal won’t lose any money from the empty seats and may just ignore it, but surely this is the biggest message Arsenal fans could send to the Board?

    1. Its because Gibbs was in, he gets subbed and we score 2goals. Am I missing something here. I just hope he doesn’t play cup game Monreal gives so much more to the team. CB

  1. Well done to those who spent their hard earned cash, but decided to stand up to the cause.

    True fans they are!

    1. agreed more of this needed .
this needs to trend online, it needs to be rubbed in the faces of our hierachy

    1. Not all. You will see that some are taking the opportunity to show their disenchanted feelings known with banners.

But yes, the rest are Asian tourists or those who are entertaining clients and will spend bucks in the armoury regardless wearing their half and half scarfs. Perfect fans for Kroenke and Co!!

  2. Good to see some active dissent from fans! At the end of the day, football is about the fans. They are the ones that buy the tickets, buy the merchandise, and create the demand for TV revenues.

The most successful clubs like Real, Barca, and Man U are committed to keeping their fans happy and get scared if they fail to do so.

We need some of that at Arsenal. Some genuine (Motivational) fear of fan-power, to end the repeated contempt that Arsenal fans have been treated with in recent times.

  3. Man City already 2-0 at home to a better side than Sunderland

    We are pathetic
Dont blame the fans at all

  4. Horrible 1st half performance from Arsenal… Just can’t not able to break down worst team in the league…. Horrible Horrible Performance…. Wenger Should go…. He awful manager for this club… Just not good enough…. Game Gould have wrapped up in the 1st half itself against this Sunderland side….

    1. What is wengers obsession with giroud…hand balls sanchez goal bound cracker and gets effort disallowed…2 missed sitters…constantly giving the ball away…cant hold up play…we desperately need a striker who can put the ball in the net…ffs how much longer have we got to put up with him..lamp post out !

      1. Worst part about Wenger is that even if he is witnessing that nothing is going according to the plan still bench keeps warming up till 70th Minutes… What the hell is this??? Make a change in the half time, Put different players in place if underperformed players in the 1st half but he never to does that… He just warm the bench along with other coaching staff and waste his time in throwing bottles in frustration….

  5. The image shown from twitter was before kick off.
The lower tier is pretty much full but there are empty seats in the mid tier.

  6. 4th place gone, football quality at an all time low, a half empty stadium… the furure aint what it used to be … junkies in cold turkey … wenger pretending that more points than last season means progress … the man is a charlatan of the first order . … his departure is the only hope for the club and if he was a half way decent human being he would admit he has taken the club down the wrong road and would quit .. not expecting it though coz he aint

  8. Yes true about the tourist fans.
I recently bought a Puma 1st and away 3rd top,(blue and yellow – love it!).
For £10 each from someone who had worn each one once only!
His add on flea bay detailed a load of incorrect information about arsenal, i couldn’t believe it!

  9. I don’t see how this would affect Kroneke, we all know Kroneke is all about money first, boycotting a game where you have already paid for seems a bit redundant doesn’t it. I mean Kroneke already your money. Am I missing something

  10. The comments above make me laugh. First of all, the weather was crappy. Secondly, the game was against already relegated Sunderland, and everyone and their grandma pretty much knew the outcome. Thirdly, there wasn’t so many empty seats when the game started. A lot of people decided to leave after Alexis scored the second goal, and sealed the win for us. So stop with all the negativity and conspiracy theories.
