Arsenal legend comes out in support of Unai Emery

Thierry Henry urges Arsenal to give Emery time and concentrate on top-four.

Former Gunners legend, Thierry Henry has urged the club to give Unai Emery more time and be more realistic with their short term ambitions.

After reaching the final of the Europa League last season, Arsenal fans were hoping to end this season inside the top four, but they are already eight points behind fourth-placed Man City and the season has only just begun.

Henry, who remains Arsenal’s highest ever goalscorer, believes Emery or whoever took over from Arsene Wenger was never going to get it right immediately, and he is preaching patience among the Arsenal faithful.

Henry admitted that he never thought a club like Leicester City would be challenging for the top four and that Arsenal should just focus on making themselves more competitive.

“What can I tell you about Arsenal’s season? It’s a tough one because you can put Tottenham and Manchester United in that bracket of teams that are struggling at the minute,” Henry told Omnisport s cited by Goal.

“People didn’t expect Leicester to do what they are doing.

“Arsenal, it’s been a little while – or a very little while – that we haven’t been in the Champions League so for me as an Arsenal fan what I want to see is them, first and foremost, go back into the bracket of the teams that are going to be in the Champions League.”

I am not sure that even Henry can turn the fans around from their current stance. The only thing that can do that is a long winning run.

To be honest, that is not looking likely.

Since Luis Enrique and Jose Mourinho to Arsenal are now off Arteta, Allegri and Ljungberg are now favourites.
As said last week, Emery has been given least up to December to get us back into the top 4 or at least near it. A streak of losses will see him sacked. He is basically finished as head coach for next season but only the cost of sacking him still keeps him in charger atm

if this is true it is such bad decision making. I dont believe anybody at the club even seems to have confidence he can turn it around. Even with this easier last of teams, we will struggles just like we have every game this season.

If Arsenal do Sack Emery they will only replace him with someone CHEAP and Cheerful typical Arsenal no ambition. So they should just leave him there to run out his Contract.Arsenal are a Mid Table Club get used to it.

I have always said that our problem is the owner. Liverpool struggle for decades but their owners love Liverpool. They always spend money. Their owners don’t give up!
If money is given to Arsene in the past, do you still think that we have so few titles? Arsene became budget manager and financial controller and became used to it. Too penny-wise will miss out star players. Hope he has his success in his new role but don’t return to become manager. Ferguson and him are last breed of best managers in history. To achieve 20 out of 22 in top 4 is a rare achievement. Some of our physcho fans who always disrespect him can’t achieve 1% of what he did.
Agreed with what you have commented, Arsenal owner will go for cheapo manager. They have no ambition but profit.
Arsenal problems will alway there if the owners are still here.

Yep we have been a mid table team for the last 3 seasons. People on this site mix up realism with support for the team. I hope we make top 4 but I don’t think we will.

    3. RSH says:

Wenger was one of the highest paid managers in football for years, so thats untrue.

  3. Innit says:

Mourinho will improve Spurs into a Top 4 team this season. Which means are chances of making top 4 is probably lower

If we aren’t in the Top 5 with striking distance of 4 by end of December, I will join the Emery Out Brigade

However, we must not replace him with someone of lower quality. Might as well keep Emery instead of getting someone of lower quality

Mourinho, Klopp, Guardiola are good managers. We need someone on their level

    1. Le Coq Monster says:

So you`re saying Mourinho will turn Spuds into top 4 !…………….they are 11 points behind Man C and 12 points behind Chavs and Leicester. Spuds will have to go on a lung busting run and hope that the form teams of the top 4 will choke !…………If Spuds have a chance then so do everyone else …………..including our shite team atm !.

      1. RSH says:

it’s only November. We’ve made up substantial deficits as well to secure top 4. Put it this way, Spurs still have a much better chance of getting top 4 than we do now.

      2. Declan says:

If spurs win against West Ham Saturday lunchtime they go above us in the table, just saying…

    Announce Arteta / Freddie

  5. Patrick_G says:

We respect Henry, but he shouldn’t be trying to convince us of anything.

The proof is on the pitch, EPL table, majority of pundits and fans.

    WE ARE POOR!!!!
