In the last few weeks, several reports have suggested that Arsenal could sell Myles Lewis-Skelly to Manchester United in the closing weeks of this transfer window.
The midfielder is one of the top players who did not get enough chances to play for the team last season as they won the league and nearly won a treble.
The Gunners have several top players in the roles he can play for the team, and this affects the number of opportunities he gets in the squad.
They see him as an important player, but they have other, more experienced stars, so this has affected the chances the Hale End Academy graduate gets to play matches for the team.
So far, he has been an important performer for the team this season, so would they consider offloading him in the final days of the transfer window?
Arsenal make decision on Lewis-Skelly
According to Football Insider, that is unlikely, and Arsenal has now decided that the defender will not leave their squad this summer and will be a key part of the team for the campaign.
They believe he has a role to play in the squad and would not allow him to leave this late in the window. There is therefore almost no doubt that Lewis-Skelly will remain with Arsenal throughout the season.
The decision should provide clarity over his future after several reports suggested that the club could consider selling him before the transfer window closes.
Lewis-Skelly set to stay
Arsenal’s decision indicates that they continue to value the Hale End Academy graduate and believe he can make an important contribution to the squad during the campaign.
Although competition for places remains strong, Lewis-Skelly has already shown that he can perform for the team and will have opportunities to establish himself further.
His performances this season have strengthened his case to remain part of the squad, despite the number of experienced players Arsenal have available in the positions he can play.
The Gunners therefore appear determined to keep him rather than allow him to leave at this late stage of the transfer window.
Lewis-Skelly can now focus on continuing his performances and taking advantage of the opportunities that come his way as Arsenal look to achieve their targets this season.

👍Reggie. At this stage of his career with a potentially huge future, it would seem to have been bordering on madness to have made him available for transfer at this time. We really don’t know much about any of the real transfer window activities undertaken or considerations made by the Arsenal. That’s a good thing in my opinion.

All the talk was of Nwaneri being the next big star for Arsenal and Skelly slightly went under the radar. You need more than talent to succeed at the top and MLS has that “ nastiness “ about him. Not swagger but a definite edge about him. He was part of the first team whilst EN remained as an academy player and has the oomph to push on (in football speak)
Why would Arsenal consider selling a bright spark to a club rebuilding and why would Skelly want to go?
SueP, I suppose I may be blind but Nwaneri has never shown me all that much at any age. Even when he and MLS were starting several pre-season games together a couple of seasons ago it seemed clear to me that MLS (albeit at LB) had more aggression in him. I saw an interview with his mum not too long after that and thought to myself “o.k. that’s where he gets the attitude from”. If it doesn’t get in the way of his learning curve, he may be a consistently dangerous player. I noticed him becoming more thick skinned last season which was good to see.
Nwaneri, idk maybe he just needs more playing time at this juncture but again, other than a couple wicked shots on goal, I’ve never really noted anything spectacular from him, even in spurts.
The issue I have is that Nwaneri is better than Madueke. He’s got goals on him which Madueke does not. Yet Madueke has a free pass when Nwaneri is the better player who can produce
I actually think Madueke and Martinelli are very similar. BUT the fact that Martinelli has been here 6 years and not improved, I think Madueke can be given another chance to improve. Both have qualities but both have poor decision making. Both should do better but for me one can go. Martinelli has had his chance, you coukd say. And Madueke is classed as back up to Saka.
Plus at some point we have to give Nwaneri and Dowman more game time. This season?
Unless he improves quite a bit, I think we are safe to put Noni on the wire next Winter and see if we get a bite. Dowman should get a little more game time going forward. Hopefully he will continue to progress and remain ahead of the curve for his age.
I agree Reggie. He wasn’t a disaster so deserves a second bite. If it is, then cut loose, I’m afraid. Arteta is generally ruthless
He got an England call up Sue and played, so there must be something.
Well BB I’m glad someone else has the same opinion as me. We all have favoured players and this causes blind spots at times. I like Ben White and still do. The 3 musketeers on the right were fantastic together. But suddenly he’s seen as injury prone and needs shipping out. Not imo. Nwaneri as you say has provided some killer touches but I don’t see his character being strong enough yet. I’d wager that the coaching staff can see that as well. The club don’t make many mistakes when selling on and maybe he needs another season to prove he’s up to it, otherwise it might be curtains at Arsenal

You say the club don’t make many mistakes when selling on, I assume you mean from the player not developing as expected even at his new club.
I also assume you don’t mean from a profit making angle. Because recent history show’s Arsenal’s atrocious record in that regard.
