Bayern Munich are showing increased interest in two of Arsenal’s most exciting youngster and the club have moved fast to thwart the German giants.
Youngsters Tyreece John-Jules, 18, and Xavier Amaechi, 18, are the players in question and contract talks have begun with the pair in a bid to tie them down to new long term deals.
Both players contracts expire next summer and the German giants are said to be very keen on snapping the teenagers up.
It has become a bit of a thing in Germany recently to sign up young English talent, either on loan or on permanent deals.
The success of former Manchester City youngster Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund has set the standard with other Bundesliga clubs looking to replicate what Dortmund have achieved.
This season two of our young talents Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe have been on loan to German sides and more are expected to follow and not just from us but other Premier League clubs.
Over the last couple of seasons, Arsenal has already lost the likes of Chris Willock to Benfica, Stephy Mavididi to Juventus and Marcus McGuane to Barcelona and if we are not careful we will end up losing more of our top young talent.
Foreign clubs appear to be more inclined to give youngsters more first-team opportunities and that is going to be the key to persuading John-Jules and Amaechi to extend their contract with us.
From their point of view, they have to weigh up where their best chances of breaking through to the senior team lies, is it with us or in Germany with a massive club like Bayern?
We cannot keep on denying our academy players opportunities, this season we used just three in the Premier League, Tottenham used eight, who do you think has more chance of hanging on to their youngsters?
Hopefully, John-Jules and Amaechi will sign new deals but if they do not then we only have ourselves to blame.
And the worse thing about all this is that we probably have players in the academy that could do better jobs than some of our underperforming first team players.
Agree with we have good young players and play overpaid lazy ones instead, no change from wenger.
I agree, but change takes time. We’re already offloading chronic injury-prone players like Ramsey, and Welbeck, and Emery let Wilshere go asap. Despite yet another campaign plagued by injury, these players would easily have been kept on by Wenger. So positive steps are being taken.
Off topic: I’m sure some of you read Jonathon Walters, the former Stoke City striker’s comments how Tony Pulis ordered his team to go out and kick Arsenal off the pitch and how Walters himself enjoyed writing the article. If they’d have openly said this about Manchester United the FA would have taken action against these cowards masquerading as footballers especially after the horrific injury to Aaron Ramsey. However anyone’s allowed to kick Arsenal as we’ve all witnessed in the past. Anyway they, including their thick fanbase got the comeuppance with Walters now resigned to the scrapheap and Stoke lingering in the lower division. Good riddance and long may they stay there for a very long time.

The thing that concerns me is that people raise the prospect of bringing in young players from other clubs, yet overlook the talent Arsenal has in its U23 and U18 teams, both of which won their respective competitions. It appears that it is only when clubs like Bayern Munchen come sniffing around that people start to see that Arsenal has talent which should be given opportunities. You can’t afford to play them all, but given the number of fronts Arsenal competes on, one or two can be given game time to see how they perform. Promotion from within can allow scarce transfer funds to be better targeted.
Jose Mourinho praising Ismailia Sarr and Allan Saint Maximin who I was praising months ago! he looks an interesting player! If we managed to go get one of those players I’d be more than happy and of course a top CB haha. Bringing through 1 or 2 youngsters, I have no problem with that.
Sarr did not play well against us at home/ away, until Sokratis’ red card happened. Rather than getting another right-footed RW that can only race on the right side like Nelson and him, I’d prefer a left-footed RW like Pepe, Malcom, Chukwueze or Thauvin
Maximin’s goal and assist stats are not impressive in this season, but he is one of the best dribblers in Ligue 1
We have young left-footed wingers that might be able to perform better than them, like Saka and Amaechi. Arsenal should try them next season, otherwise we could have another Sancho case
I heard Real Madrid have joined the chase for Pepe and a host of other clubs so the likelihood of him joining is next to none! I’m really not a fan of Malcom although he could prove me wrong if he were to join but doubt that will happen either. Sarr and Maximin are still young players and will definitely improve but if Saka and Amaechi are good enough then I’m all for that!
