Arsenal need to be very wary of Wolves home record against the Top Six

Wolves have a very impressive record against the top-six sides, out of a possible 15 points at Molineaux they have collected seven scoring seven and conceding eight.

They held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw back in August in a game that required a lot of defending with just 31% of the possession, however, they did manage to get off eight shots scoring with their only one on target and also forced five corners.

Their next game against a top-six side was against Tottenham at the beginning of October, they went 3-0 down and the game looked dead and buried but they fought back with ferocity and by the 79th minute had reduced the deficit to just one. This was a game I watched and they had Spurs under serious pressure in the final ten minutes and were unlucky not to scrape a draw.

Then they faced Chelsea on the 5th December and recorded a 2-1 win after going 1-0 down, they had less possession and were outplayed but they showed how well they can defend and how dangerous they are in attack, this one game epitomises exactly the sort of team Wolves are.

Just over two weeks later they hosted Liverpool and even though they lost 2-0 they gave a very good account of themselves, they attacked as much as the Reds did and can hold their heads up high despite losing.

And then there was their 2-1 win over Man Utd in April, their second 2-1 win in consecutive games over the Red Devils and on both occasions, they deserved those wins.

So, you can see for yourselves that when it comes to playing the top six at home Wolves are dangerous, very dangerous and we will have to be on top form to get a win this evening.

Liverpool and Tottenham have shown how to beat them and that is with attack-minded football, anything less and we are asking for trouble.

  1. It would be foolish to ignore our away record. Smart fans should be deeply worried.

However, Arsenal often does what no one expects. They were expected to win at home this weekend and lost. They should be expected to lose against Wolves so …

  2. But what about Watford’s poor recent form.
They have only won once in their last 5 games.
    Burnley 2-0 Wolves PL
    Wolves 2-1 Man U PL

    Soton 3-1 Wolves PL

I blame the players for this woeful performance.
They really disappointed UE and the fans.
He put up a decent squad that can decimate wolves on a very good day but they let him down .
    Goodbye champions league football.

  5. Q: Why are Arsenal strikers like grizzly bears? A: Every fall they go into hibernation.
