Arsenal need to play like that every week, every game….

Arsenal came back in style against AC Milan last night, despite only having our third/choice striker, Danny Welbeck, on the pitch. We may have scored more if Aubameyang or Lacazette was playing but we can-t deny that Welbeck did his job and we have now won three games in a row.

Jack Wilshere was impressed with the Gunners performance. “It was a good performance” Jack said. “We knew we had to give the same effort as we did in Milan last week. It was a big physical effort and we did that again tonight. We have to do that going forward – you have seen the last three games and we have really concentrated on our defensive shape and discipline. We all did it together as a team, we closed gaps and we knew we had to do that again tonight because they were going to try to bring the game to us. We’re happy but we need to keep this going now.”

By ‘keeping this going’ he means that there is no reason why we can’t play at this level in every game if we put our minds to it. “Everyone is giving a little bit more physically when things don’t go our way.” he added. “If you’re having a bad game, or things aren’t going your way, the one thing you can always promise is that you’ll run around. You have to give your all and I think we’re doing that. We had a few bad results and everyone had a good hard look at themselves, and we have responded. We have responded with three big performances and we have set the bar now. We need to do that week in, week out.”

Arsenal do normally go on a winning run at the end of the season (normally after we we are so far behind the Top Four and have to make an effort, but there is no reason we can’t do that again this season. We have won three games but now we need to keep the momentum going and keep winning. And if we can win the Europa League at the same time even better!

I just hope that the international break doesn’t stop our impetus…

  1. I Was impressed with the team, Wilshere looks good and has that will to drive forward as a Captain. But I still think we need a leader, one who knows how to rally the team up, talk to the players on the pitch if they’re doing doing bad… A Veira, Roy Keane, Sergio Ramos, Puyol type.
I really hope we can win the Europa, Moscow ain’t gon be easy but we can do it, let’s just take it a battle a time.
The team had a good performance, And thankfully Lacazette would be back for the next rounds.
    COYG.
Let’s win it and pray Wenger steps down.
This is the only Happy ending the team, Wenger and the fans can have at the end of the season

  2. Great atmosphere at the Emirates last night and brilliant to see fans responding to the players reaction after going a goal down.
Jack and Aaron worked well together and Granit had his most sensible game for a long long time.
No negatives at all to talk about, so well done to the manager and players.

  3. We are doing okay for now but things can change by seconds as we are wallking on thin ice. My only wish is that we do win the uefa leuge and Wenger goes, otherwise we will continue in being in trouble.

    1. It’s so much better than the doom and gloom Sue.
Mind you the players only have themselves to blame for that!
If they gave that fight and commitment every game, The Emirates would be the fortress we all thought it would be.

      1. It sure is Ken!
They’ve shown us what we know they’re more than capable of, so they’d better keep it up!! I really hope no one comes back injured from the international break….oh how I hate the international break ☹

  4. I can see our fans dying in Moscow for security reasons. I would go as far to say that I would be happy if we finish below six in the table to avoid Europa league so that we we can concentrate on challenging for the title next without distraction from this low key competition

  5. It was a great win, and performance, but it was against a very, very average team, we shouldn’t forget that. The ONLY reason we’ve made it to the QF stage (finally) is because we haven’t played anyone one decent yet.

It’s worrying because we almost always get embarrassed by quality opposition, but hopefully our confidence is a little better now, and I feel our style of play is conducive for second tier European football, which gives me a little more optimism.
