When Arsenal played Rennes earlier in the season one player stood out for our opponents and that was Ismaila Sarr and ever since that time we have been linked with a move for the young forward.
Arsenal is not the only club interested in the 21-year-old, Premier league duo Leicester City, Watford, Ligue 1 outfit Monaco and Italian sides Inter and Roma are also said to be keen on signing the youngster.
Sarr has had a very good season, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists and for any club, including us, that wants to sign him they will have to pay out at least £44 Million, according to the latest reports.
Rennes are willing to sell but only if their valuation of the player is met and are in fact, are hoping for some sort of bidding war to take place.
Sarr is without a doubt an immense talent and probably worth every penny of the £44 Million but it is still a risky amount to pay for such a young player unproven in the Premier League.
It would take a serious leap of faith from Unai Emery to sanction such a big spend on a single player.
It is hardly a secret that we have a restricted transfer budget but I am not sure it is as bad as everyone believes, we already know that if we beat Chelsea Wednesday night we will have a larger transfer kitty to work with.
There will also be player sales and it has officially been confirmed that any monies raised via sales can be spent on new players.
So, while £44 Million would be a great chunk of our budget it does not mean we are priced out of the race to sign Sarr and if at all possible I do think we should have a right go at signing him.
Rather spend $25m on Ziyech
I agree, £25 million is great business and it sounds like Ziyech actually wants to play for Arsenal. Could he be the Carzola type player we need in midfield?
We need players that can create chances for Auba and Laca. Ziyech and Fraser would be nice additions. Then club could address the defense and strengthen
Ziyech scored 21 goals and assisted another 24 this past season.
Last season it was 9 goals 18 assists.
12 goals, 20 assists in 16/17
17 goals, 12 assists in 15/16
So as you can see, he has been performing consistently for years. Same cannot be said about Mkhitaryan or Özil..

Please please please,,, Get rid of Xhaka,, Anyhow anyway,, he is the cause of the ineffective and inefficient midfield. Howbeit we have a situation wherein the team has to employ 1 or 2 additional defensive players in the middle of the park to win the ball for a so called passer or distributor to be able to play. Howcome the manager has changed the clubs playing ethos to accommodate a player with less than average ability so as to make his stats look good, when in fact he has for the most no positive impact on the game, and the rest of the time his contribution is negative (as in the game against Brighton) and detrimental to the prospects of the club. We would have qualified for the champions league were it not for his ineptitude.
