Arsenal on scouting mission with Celtic-Bayern monitored

Arsenal are named amongst other clubs to be keeping a close eye on tonight’s Champions League tie between Celtic and Bayern Munich.

It is claimed that as many as 17 Premier League sides will have scouts at the match, with the Scottish champions having a number of their stars being watched.

Arsenal among other big English sides are said to be keen to watch striker Moussa Dembele in action, having scored an impressive 32 goals in 49 outings in his first season with the club, having joined from Fulham on a free transfer.

Our club was linked with his capture prior to his move to Parkhead, and our interest is not believed to have waivered, while his ability is much more common knowledge now.

The young Frenchman was nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award, which was eventually given to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, raising the Celtic goal-scorer’s stock further, and he will be keen to continue to grow in stature as he looks to make his mark on world football.

It will be interesting to see how well Dembele does against a rejuvenated Bayern side who are on the back of five straight wins, in which they conceded only the one goal, but the Celts are famed for their performances in front of their home crowd, and you wouldn’t like to write the Scottish side of at Parkhead.

Arsenal may also keep tabs on left-back Kieran Tierney, who has also been linked with a Premier League move in recent terms. The Gunners are well equipped currently with new signing Sead Kolasinac thoroughly impressing at wing-back, but with Nacho Monreal preferred in the back three, we have limited options as back-up, and could well look for further options.

Is Moussa Dembele ready for a big move? Would a move for the striker force Olivier Giroud out of the club? Who else should we be watching tonight?

  1. Currently, we have a lot of strikers that are competing for start and a certain ‘wonderkid’ so I don’t think Dembele will be needed…

Even at LB, we have Monreal, Kolasinac and Bramall. So this is basically a pointless and rubbish speculation…

What we need is a unique and exceptional CM…period!

  2. Arsenal never scout Celtic! At the time, I wanted us to sign Wanyama, Forster, and then Van Dijk. They wouldn’t have cost much, and we desperately needed those positions strengthened as well.
