Arsenal remain interested in Victor Osimhen and have now opened talks with Galatasaray to sign the Nigerian during this transfer window. Osimhen has been one of the best players in the world in recent seasons, and the Gunners have long been interested in signing him.

Victor Osimhen is a player who I often have mentioned is a really top class player that I want Arsenal to buy. Arsenal have lacked a consistent goalscorer for a long time. A player who scores an incredible number of goals no matter where he plays. Victor Osimhen is known as one of the most complete modern center forwards, and his strengths lie primarily in his physical strength, which makes him difficult to push off the ball in duels with defenders. Osimhen is super fast and he is an effective goalscorer with both feet both inside and outside the box. He is strong in the air game, which makes him dangerous on crosses. Osimhen is in the prime of life for a footballer. He may be a challenge for Arteta, as he can have a fierce temper, but it is perhaps this temper, this spark, that makes him so good on the pitch, but which can also be his worst enemy. I think Osimhen is the right buy, who can give Arsenal the goals that we have so often lacked in many games.

I’ve always thought though, why has he never been strongly linked to (or actually even signed for) bigger teams? With the numbers he consistently produces, you would think the Barca’s, the Real’s, the Prem’s “Big Six”, would have had serious interest at some stage over the last few years. There was just that brief link to Chelsea at some point, but that is it. Makes me think, do they see something we as fans don’t?
Ultra-high salary demands and especially his fiery temper are not everyone who likes. But then Arteta has to show how good a manager he is. Big mangagers can control big players. Osimhen is absolutely what we need. With him up front we will have a monster attack together with Gyokeres.
Kia, I’ve always said that there’s something about him that puts all the big clubs off signing him. It does make you wonder why.
We could also buy Kaua Elias, an excellent, great young player with huge potential, but he is not performing now at the same level as Osimhen. Osimhen is the player who can deliver right now. If Arsenal want to take the next step to the very highest level, I think Osimhen is the right choice. It is definitely a risk that I think Arsenal should take.
PSG actually tried hard to buy him when they bought Kvaratskhelia. They offered Napoli €220 million for both, but Napoli would only sell them one of the players. Juventus have also been after him in the past.
I’m not against this move for Osimhen.
My only worry is we are weakening or left wing by selling Martinelli (in terms of cover, not quality wise) to sign a centre forward, who pretty much only operates in that position.
If this does happen, with the plan of still strengthening the left wing, then I am all for it.

Having heard that Arsenal are inviting bids for Martinelli and Nwaneri, if true I’ll be disappointed to see either go.
Especially Nwaneri. At 19 he’s got so much potential that can still be tapped into. For me it should be Madueke that should be shipped out. A player that constantly flatters to deceive.
If he’s kept, this is a massive season for him. But again I question Arsenal and the point of having an academy system if you’re not going to persevere with talents like Nwaneri and the like.
I also have a hard time selling young, obvious talents, but we could then maybe introduce a buy-back clause. We could also just bet on our academy players and save a lot of money. Not a bad idea, if only Arsenal were not at the high level that they have now. If we want to maintain or even improve the level, we don’t have time to wait for the talents to become really good. We know all too well what it means to lack players who do not perform at the top level.

Whether Nwaneri’s ready for Arsenal now is open to debate. But I wouldn’t sell him, I’d loan him out at best.
Yes it takes time for these Academy players to develop, but the club have got to persevere with them, or I’ll say it again. What’s the point of having an academy.

Don’t misunderstand me. It is only in emergencies that you may have to sell a an Academy player. In this case, because Galatasary really wants one of our Academy players, and to get Osimhen we might have to do something that we don’t like. Academy players are very important to a club, especially with today’s prices of players. Watch a player like Max Dowman and many more as we surely develop into top players.

There are so many red flags about Osimhe, his salary, his anger issues, he doesn’t defend which is the hallmark of Arsenal family playing model. Come to think of it, is he a team player? And to add to that, it doesn’t make sense weakening the left wing for a bloated CF position ( Kai Harvertz, Viktor Gyokeres, Jesus). By the way, he’s similar to Gyokeres in terms of style, so not happening except Gyokeres is leaving.
Add Godt’s from Ajax instead if there are no players available on the left wing, he would grow into EPL intensity as times go on. Otherwise, go all out for Yildiz, otherwise leave the team as is in terms of forward addition.
The only red flag I’ll dispute in what you’ve said is his salary.

Osimhen is right up there with them in terms of quality. And I think he’s currently on over €300k p/w which is roughly £290k p/w (estimated).

I don’t know *all* his history, but I struggle to see the issue with this signing – he doesn’t come across to me as a problem player, rather I think he was a bit mistreated at Napoli, and quality wise, he’s easily getting into our first team. If his salary is high, so are the salaries of all our players who are easy first team picks.
Don’t mind if he’s a bit hot headed so long as he sees it as an area to improve on.
Based on what I do know, I’d definitely go for him if we can get him.

I have watched him play eight times, and he has yet to impress me.Perhaps I have just been unlucky but with 3 current central strikers in Goykeres,Havertz and Jesus do we need another who is a combustible character.If Martinelli is moved on, we need a direct replacement for him and if and when Jesus leaves we should be thinking in terms of bringing in a promising young CF.

When I look at the trajectory and the “project” over the last few years, it all kind of makes sense.
Initially it was about getting the so called “viruses” out of the team, and creating a solid team environment with collective standards, which is where we are now.
Now that we have got to this point though, we need to aim big for the players that are, or are associated with big ego’s in order to improve our team. Players such as Vini and Osimhen for example.
It’s all quite ironic, but I understand the path. After all, it seems we are at the point where we are not dependent on superstars (whereas in the past I think some players thought we relied on them) as the standard has been set, and any player walking into our environment will know that.

After seeing how Osimhen embarrassed Lookman at Afcon 26, no to the selfish egoist Osimhen. Btw the host nation Morocco again were subdued in the women Afcon this week. They were awarded by VAR a late pen in the 118th minute but thanks to God it was saved. Cameroon won the shootout.
I can’t understand the apprehension that some fans are voicing over Osimhen’s attitude and behaviour.
I believe we currently have the highest paid manager in Europe who has dealt with, supposedly, top players egos in the past by letting them tear up their contracts and walk away.
With Jesus about to be moved on, we need a replacement up front and it seems as if the club are interested in Osimhen.
With this in mind, the inference that he doesn’t defend doesn’t seem a problem either.
As for the point that no top six club in the PL or even in Europe has shown any real interest in him, that doesn’t really mean anything if one remembers other players such as Issac, Giroud, Son, Henry, Wrighty etc etc didn’t attract the “”herd” either.

Wenger did try to buy him from Monaco in August ’98, but they refused to sell him to us. We had already bought Petit, Grimaldi and Wreh the previous season from them.
I went through comments and all comments are reasonable we need Osimhen he will be a very good option for the attack I feel bad about loosing out our talented wingers likes of Trossard and Martin Martinnelli if Arsenal can get a strong winger to work along Tzolis is fine for the Academy players Arsenal has benefited much from Saka and now Downman is untouchable we still have cover for Nwanerri left wing should be addressed if this buy plus Martinnelli must materialise.
