Arsenal are now pushing to sign Eberechi Eze as their next major addition this summer and the England international is reportedly hopeful that a move to the Emirates will materialise soon.
The Gunners have been tracking the Crystal Palace star for some time after recognising his growing status as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents. Eze’s stock rose considerably last season as he played a central role in Palace’s impressive FA Cup triumph, which was the first major trophy in the club’s history.
Arsenal prepare formal bid for Crystal Palace star
Despite his continued professionalism and commitment at Selhurst Park, Eze is understood to be open to the Arsenal move and is optimistic that the deal can be completed during this window. With technical director Andrea Berta overseeing a productive transfer window so far, the Gunners believe that Eze would further elevate their squad quality.
Mikel Arteta is thought to be a huge admirer of the 27-year-old, and the club views him as a player who could provide serious depth and creativity in their attacking unit.

Structured offer of £52m being finalised
According to Give Me Sport, Arsenal are preparing to table a bid worth around £52 million for Eze. The proposed deal is expected to include an upfront payment of £30 million, with the remaining £22 million to be paid across the next two seasons.
While this figure falls short of Eze’s reported release clause, Arsenal believe the offer represents fair value given the player’s profile and potential. Palace may be reluctant to lose one of their top performers, but the player’s desire and the structure of the deal could influence their stance.
If the transfer is completed, Eze would bring flair, unpredictability and competition to Arsenal’s frontline, qualities that could prove vital in their push for major honours this season.

Eze hasn’t got a release clause, it expired yesterday.
Odegaard is good but in more physically demanding games, he has gone missing and that’s where we need Eze
True, I think the headline is just teeing up the fact that Arsenal’s offer is less than the £68m that was reported to be the release clause for Eze. Whether Palace are prepared to let him leave for the £52m mentioned in the article is another matter. I suspect that there will be haggling before a deal goes through (if it does).
He has two years left on his contract which means this is the last chance to a good deal of money on him.
I know the game is to boost comments and activity but if posting rumors atleast use credible ones like F.Romano or D.Ornstein or HandofArsenal.
Given that we’ve just apparently paid nearly £50m for Madueke..without a quibble… The fact that were now trying to drive down Eze’s value seems somewhat strange. After all we all know that Eze has consistently delivered in the PL when Madueke is nothing more than an hopeful”Arteta Punt”…For Goodness Sake..just pay what he’s worth in the current market. We need him to be integrated in time for the start of the Season. Our stodgy performance against Spuds playing a “deep block” perfectly illustrated our need for Eze’s ability to unlock defences…Sometimes Arsenal really do seem to get their priorities very wrong!!
Perhaps it’s simply because Arsenal has spent the money on Madueke (and others as well) that they are seeking, according to the article, to get Eze for quite a lot less than the now defunct release clause.
Arsenal really do need to get selling if they can (easier said than done though). Currently, they have a deficit on “transfers in” of over £190m in this window so far. That’s pretty awful and they’ll want to improve it as much as possible before 1 September. Just “paying up” in those circumstances may not be an option.
Bertie,
The player’s out scenario has had me thinking at certain times in this window. With all the players that Arsenal have brought in, if the said players that are rumored to being moved on decided that they want to sit on their contracts, Arsenal could be up the creek without a paddle as the saying goes. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
Derek
That’s a point. Overall, Arsenal aren’t good sellers in two ways. First, they don’t sell very many players on the whole (last summer’s sales were the exception to the general rule). Second, when they do sell, they don’t “sell big”. The largest fee Arsenal has received is, as far as I can see, Oxlade-Chamberlain for £40m way back in 2017. Liverpool’s latest sale (Diaz) comfortably exceeded that only a week or so ago. City and Chelsea have also bettered it recently.
Berta’s overall record as a seller is good, but I think he’ll need al his skills to move on the several players (is it six or seven?) that Arsenal are reported to want to sell.
Obviously, we don’t know what Arsenal’s revenue is for 2024-25 yet although, what with the CL run etc., it will probably exceed the club record of £600m or so for the 2023-24 season. However, despite the record revenue then, Arsenal still made an overall loss with much lower player purchases and better sales (so far at least) than now. Makes you think.
Bertie,
Thank you for your in depth post, it made for interesting reading.
Another thing that springs to mind trying to sell these player’s that we don’t want anymore, could prove a problem regarding the buying teams know that we need to get these players out the door.
And I can see some of these teams offering below the players value, knowing our clubs need to sell. And if that’s the case, it will only reinforce our recent track record of selling players, as not being very impressive. Oh dear!. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
The red jersey picture of Eze looks like a face was badly photoshopped onto someone else’s head.
There are no more than 5 players that I think the club could sell :
Zinchenko and Trossard from the actual squad.
Lokonga,Vieira and Nelson returning from loans.
These last 3 are the more difficult to sell as there was no intension to retain them by the clubs.
Gabriel Jesus have to be retain until he complete his recovery from injuries.
Consequently not a big lot of money will came.
Hopefully the Club will manage to sort out the situation and well get Eze.
Unlike Madueke, Eze has an end product. He is worth sixty-odd mil. I know teams tend to bid below the asking price, but I hope we are quick to come back in and bid the sixty that will be needed. With how quickly Madueke was sorted, I expect to see something similar with the Eze deal
