Arsenal quest for a winger gaining momentum as they look towards France

One of the types of players that Arsenal is looking at most intensely are wingers and numerous names have cropped up including the big one, Wilfried Zaha. However, his price is steep and it does appear that the club is actively looking at cheaper alternatives.

Other wingers linked with Arsenal have been Ryan Fraser at Bournemouth and Dalian Yifang Yannick Carrasco.

And just a few days ago we ran an article that Arsenal were looking at Monaco’s Keita Balde as an alternative to Zaha, Fraser and Carrasco.

At that time we linked to a French media outlet and now SkySports have taken the speculation up and added some extra bits.

Apparently, Arsenal has sent scouts to monitor Balde at the African cup of Nations, who were fortunate enough to witness him score against Tanzania.

Balde was on loan last season at Inter where he basically flopped but he is talented and just because it did not work out in Serie A for him does not mean he will not be a success in the Premier League.

He will be available cheaply in comparison to Zaha and can be had at between £25 Million and £28 Million claim Sky.

This particular rumour is starting to gather momentum, it has gone from being just a run of the mill rumour in France to Sky reporting that scouts have been watching the player.

This is one to keep an eye on.

So he can’t cut it in Seria A but scores a goal at ACON.And we are interested in him WHY?
Another non-story which will not happen. Is he likely to be better than Reiss Nelson?Sako? Then why buy him when we have home-grown youth players ready to come through at the Club?
It’s surely no coincidence Ljumberg has been promoted is it?Lack of funds to buy but with promising young players who Freddie brought through to the u23’s.IF our Transfer kitty is s low as being suggested we are better of giving the kids a chance to show what they can do.Otherwise what is the point of having a youth set-up to begin with?

      Well said Phil

Another story about this guy again

    I don’t think he’d come

    1. Sean Williams says:

Perhaps better we look to Ryan Fraser. He’s shown he can cut it in the EPL and if Palace expect 60-80 mill for Zaha that is silly. Zaha is a quality player but £60 mill….no way. Cannot see anything in Balde, just ordinary and may struggle in the EPL. We’re coming up to 1’st of July so I hope we get our business sorted early so the new guys can ‘bed’ in. What’s happening with Tierney? All quiet on the western front suddenly. What about a CB? Can you imagine if we still have Mustafi for the coming season….Arghhhhhhh! C’mon Arsenal you’ve ‘looked’ so now put your money where your mouth is and improve our great club. Please get rid of Ozil, Mustafi, and Elneny. My greatest wish is to sign James Maddison of Leicester City. Quality player.

Ryan Fraser from Bournmouth for me every day, plus Tierney from Celtic and Lewis Dunn from Brighton & Hove Albion and I would call that a successful transfer window.
Chambers and Bielik can also help with the midfield and defense until Holding returns from injury. There are other academy priducts eg Willock, Smith-Rowe, Nelson, Nketiah and Saka, who are now a year older; as others have said they should be given opportunities.

    1. Enagic says:

      Who said that?

      ozziegunner

      Totally on point.

    3. RSH says:

I agree Ozzie. Why Emery and co. are obsessed with Zaha is beyond me. They struggle to pay a few more for Tierney and Fraser but are willing to sell Auba, just to get Zaha. This club is a shambles. I can’t believe we are looking at random French wingers now. We all know this guy will end up being bang average and our Elneny on the wing. His price isn’t even that low either.

    4. RSH says:

And why Arsenal continue to look abroad for their solutions and never scout other EPL clubs is beyond me. Zaha is too much, so time to scout the bowels of France again for a cheap deal! Loser mentality. And also have the feeling Arsenal’s scouting of Zaha consisted of just seeing him beat us at Emirates a couple months ago, lmao.

  4. mayert says:

I thought the Zaha news were the most underwhelming!!! And then comes this.
Anyway, as I said before, until this management (esp manager) pinpoint some worthy transfer targets, be very much braced for mediocrity.
Targets such as Kingsley Coman, Carrasco are very much cheap. Why look at mediocre players? Arsenal Why???
Iam already saddened by us missing out on Kovacic…

  5. Durand says:

I’m putting my faith in FL and developing Nelson, Saka, ESR, and Bilek. I have no reason for confidence in Raul and Co. after they mangled things in Suarez debacle.

If Emery gives youngsters a chance, that’s where any hope lies. Arsenal window shopping is exhausting, and waiting while they count pennies and wring hands in poverty is old and stale.

Time to act like a big club FFS, and stop with the impoverished, fund-restricted, self-sustaining nonsense that has us locked in perpetual mediocrity.

Someone please grow a pair and force Stan’s hands; either give a damn and invest, or sell and make billions for KSE bottom line!

    1. Sean Wiiliams says:

      ozziegunner

      Totally on point.

    2. RSH says:

if he gave youth a chance we’d be in UCL. Instead he played Ozil, Miki and the rest of those failures.

  6. Rasulu kenku says:

    Yes,very negative

  7. Nifty says:

I wonder why we are wondering around when Fraser and Ziyech are available

  8. KAY Boss says:

Some of u think going with our academy youth will help us?
    What’s their quality?
Blade I don’t like. He has an awkward character and is quite indisciplined.
Honestly I don’t know which winger can improve us significantly. Zaha? My dream is True.

  9. Innit says:

Ryan Fraser could be the answer or a one season wonder. But well worth taking a risk on

I’d be happy if we got Ryan

    Ryan scores goals and assists
He’d be more effective than Ozil, Iwobi or Mkhitaryan

  10. RSH says:

Getting average players abroad. Classic Arsenal
