Arsenal ready as top target Griezmann looks to become available

Arsenal are claimed to be keeping a close eye on the future of Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

The French forward was the top goalscorer in the European Championships this summer, after two years of consistently bagging over 20 league goals for the Atleti.

Arsene Wenger was reported to have been tracking Griezmann for much of the summer, only for him to end up staying put, but the French international has since decided to sack his agent, leading to curious thoughts…

Antoine has recently come out in the press to insist he will only leave his current club should Diego Simeone go, and the Argentine boss appears to be putting some work into a move.

The manager is apparently preparing to leave the club at the end of the season, which will really excite the Gunners masses, with Arsene Wenger’s contract set to end next summer also.

Two weeks ago I posted how we could be set to land the pair at the end of the season, and more and more reasons to believe such a possibility is coming to the fore.

We are now reported to be paying close attention to the situation in the Spanish capital, with Arsenal keen on beating the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea to their top target.

We could have triggered his buy-out clause this summer, but the forward had no interest in leaving at the time, but his future will now be a huge talking point for the remainder of the term.

His capture would be a huge accomplishment, with some even tipping Griezmann for this year’s Ballon D’Or, and if we really are willing to stump up the funds, he would give us a huge boost in our bid to win a first PL title in over a decade.

Could we tempt Griezmann to switch the Spanish capital for London?

  1. Can we focus on the upcoming few games before launching into the silly season of transfer rumours again? How about should Reine-Adelaide get a start tomorrow? Is Ramsey ready to get back into action? Will Wenger risk a Holding-Bielek pairing? That kind of thing.

  3. One transfer window just closed, and we’re already talking about the next one? And not even January, but the next summer. Really, people?! How about Nottingham Forest tomorrow? Or predicted lineup against Chelsea this weekend? Anything but the stupid transfer speculations, especially when it involves Simeone and Griezmann.
