Fábio Vieira appears to be thriving once again at FC Porto, having returned to the Portuguese side on loan at the beginning of the current season.

Arsenal signed the midfielder from Porto in 2022, following a highly promising spell at the club that drew attention across Europe. However, despite the initial excitement surrounding his arrival at the Emirates, Vieira struggled to secure consistent playing time amid strong competition for places in the squad. Consequently, the Gunners opted to send him out on loan in a bid to revitalise his form and confidence.

Back in familiar surroundings, Vieira has made noticeable strides. Regular appearances for Porto have allowed him to regain momentum, and reports suggest the club’s staff are hopeful he will remain beyond the current campaign. Despite their interest, financial constraints make a permanent transfer unlikely, leading Porto to consider another loan spell as their preferred solution.

However, according to a report cited by Sport Witness, Arsenal have informed Porto that Vieira is no longer available for a loan move. The report indicates that the Gunners would only entertain a permanent transfer at this stage; otherwise, they intend to reintegrate him into their squad for the upcoming season.

Vieira’s resurgence in form has reaffirmed his potential, and the decision to halt successive loan spells reflects Arsenal’s belief in his long-term value. With midfielders such as Thomas Partey and Jorginho potentially departing the club, retaining Vieira could provide Arsenal with a valuable internal solution rather than seeking external reinforcements.

Arsenal is now positioning itself to either cash in on Vieira through a full transfer or keep him within the squad, thereby ending the cycle of temporary moves. His talent is evident, and if no club meets Arsenal’s valuation, retaining him could be a wise strategic move that benefits both player and club in the long run.

    1. Although a tasty midfielder he just doesn’t suit our midfield and personally see no value in him comming back
Best all round if Porto.could do a deal with Arsenal

  1. Transfer fiasco at its its peak with his signing. I objected and debated with friends over his transfer from the outset tbh. Spain Portugal leagues preferable for him owing to his diminutive stature. He is unlike Bernardo Silva of City. Epl esp in his position needs pace physicality strength character which attributes he lacks. Edu and his cohorts bad day at office when deciding to sign him. Convincing Porto to sign him half the initial fee is a tough assignment for Berta but he may somehow manage to do the deal done.

  2. I think you are right. Midfield is the powerhouse of Arsenal which primarily demolished the giants Real Madrid. It is not unnatural some transfers may fail as in the typical case of Francis from Everton to Arsenal during Wenger era. Vieira was given chances by Arteta to showcase his skills in various positions but couldn’t do. Eventually he succumbed to long term injury and red card as well. Desperate at Arsenal really. He lacks the aura tbh. He also lacks the tricks the Iberian players are endowed with. Thanks mate!

  3. A bad purchase to start with; timid as a kitten, small stature with little strength and fight. He was invisible most of his appearances, so getting anything back from wasting 34 million must be done.

  4. To a certain extent, maybe it shows the lower level of standard in Portugal, and maybe we need to take that in to consideration when deciding on a striker.
