Arsenal reported to be in talks to sign young Aaron Ramsey replacement

It has been revealed in the English media that Arsenal is in negotiations with Paris Saint Germain over the possible signing of Christopher Nkunku.

According to the Evening Standard, Paris Saint Germain have informed us that the 21-year-old will cost approximately £17.2 million, however, talks do remain at a formative stage.

Unai Emery has intimate knowledge of the player having brought him through the ranks when he was in charge of the French Champions and apparently attempted to sign the youngster on loan in the January transfer window but instead ending up taking Denis Suarez from Barcelona.

As things stand right now Nkunku is refusing to sign an extension to his contract, which expires in 2020 and this has promoted PSG to consider allowing the youngster to leave in the summer providing their valuation is met.

Nkunku is viewed as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey, he is versatile and is comfortable in either a central defensive position or out on the wing.

The France U21 Star is not a typical fringe player, he has actually made 21 Ligue 1 appearances this season, however, he did not feature in the Champions League and is looking to sign for a club that will guarantee more regular first-team football.

From a personal point of view, this looks like it could happen, the fact that we are talking with PSG coupled with the player wanting to leave and being available for a reasonable price certainly gives this particular rumour a degree of credibility.

  1. Let’s use our entire budget plus player sales (Ozil, Miki, Mustafi, El-Neny) and go straight to Ajax and get:
    David Neres
    Hakim Ziyech
    Donny Van De Beek
    Nicholas Tagliafico

All fill a need and all would make us a better team that we currently are.

We could get all for around $100-120m I would think?

    1. It would be a miracle if Arsenal can sell Ozil and Mkhitaryan next season

However they managed to pull it off on Walcott sale, hence maybe they can do it again

  2. I saw him a few times and his playing styles look similar to Maitland-Niles, versatile, jack-of-all-trades, energetic, industrious and quick

I don’t see the importance of signing him because of our tendency in using 4-2-3-1/ 3-4-1-2 at home and 3-4-2-1 at away, unless Emery plans to use him as a box-to-box CM/ mezzala in a 4-3-3 formation

Prefer to see Arsenal keep the 17.2 M to fund Pepe, Chukwueze or Zaha purchase. Add another 50 M and I believe Lille, Villareal or Palace would budge

  3. So Dennis Suarez has declared he is out for the rest of the season. He has made a massive 4 appearances for us..1 less than the infamous Kim Kallstrom.. £2M well spent.

      1. Yes, it is not his fault. It is ours and in fact it might be Wenger’s. Remind me how many minutes he played before he was injured. It was a bad loan and it was because Emery won’t look out of his circle first. He was not needed base on our need identified by Emery yet he went for him.

  4. Come summer we must do the following.
    Sell
    Ozil 30m
    Miki 20m
    Mustaphi 20m
    Chambers 10m
    Ospina 3m

    Release
    Welbeck
    Lich
    Jenkinson

    Buy
    Wardprowdse 30m
    Ruben neves 35m
    Boly 30m
    Lozano 35m

Then we are good to go.

  5. Wholesale changes…as much as it might well be required…is not going to happen.

Our objective next is to improve enough to be a top 4 maybe 3rd team in the league. So we will not be going hell for leather in transfers and clear-outs.

Looks like welbeck will be given another contract, same goes for Litchsteiner and we can probably expect some youth promotions.

This year we brought in 5 players…of which gendouzi has done ok and is an exciting prospect. Torriera has done well, will only improve and will do with better stamina. Whilst Leno has been the one player who has been above and beyond our player of the season. The other 2 recruits in Litcht and Sokratis have filled roles…sokratis more so then Litcht.

I expect we will need to be wise in our few purchases even though I qpukd go as far as saying, even if we must take the next step of being a top 4 sure thing, a LB, Winger and someone to replace Rambo is essential.

  6. I still think Ozil has a role in the present day Arsenal, who I don’t think has a future is, Iwobie,Welbeck,
    Mkhitaryan
    Jenkinson
    Miki
    Mustaphi
    Chambers
    Ospina
    El-Neny
