Arsenal reported to have tabled a bid for Argentine international

Reports coming out of Italy are claiming that Arsenal has put in an official offer for Gremio defender Walter Kannemann.

According to the Italian media, Sampdoria and Inter Milan were initially interested in signing the 28-year-old centre back but are set to miss out to Arsenal who have tabled a €12 Million bid with additional bonuses.

No response has yet been forthcoming but the bid is under evaluation and an answer is expected in the coming days.

This one has come out of the blue but it does make a lot of sense.

For starters, the price is well within our restricted transfer budget and the fact that the likes of Inter Milan and Sampdoria are interested means that he is certainly highly rated.

Kannemann broke into the Argentine national team last September and has since gone on to make five international appearances but unusually has played relatively few club games considering his age, just 161.

Arsenal is looking to revamp their defence and have obviously identified Kannemann as the exact sort of acquisition to strengthen the backline at an affordable price.

We should know within the next week or so if Kannemann is to become an Arsenal player in the summer.

  1. I’ve always rated the south american market highly, didnt see y arsenal wudnt explore there.. Those guys play with heart n grit… Theyre beasts of some sorts.. So many agueros, dimarias and torreras there.. Raid there

  2. why are arsenal allergic to tall, physically imposing CB?? why always go for midget holding Mids and CBs??

    1. Lol… If we buy fraser and djene, we would officially have the smallest team in the epl. As for kannemann, he is a 28 year old CB who plays in brazil and has never played in europe, probably doesn’t understand a word of english, so how are the fans supposed to get exited about a signing like that. I’m hoping it’s just a rumour as the CB position is the most important position we need to fill and i would rather spend 40-50m on an established CB like Skriniar than 17m on such a risky signing.

    2. Just look at the successful Wenger years, almost every player on the field was physically imposing. The likes of Viera. I think that is what Arsenal need the most.

      1. ??In those days Arsenal were feared and never bullied; sometimes you have to get down and get dirty.

  3. Centre Back required by Arsenal must be lightning quick ; built like a block of flats ; also needs to be well motivated and be well able to shackle opposition attackers.
    Apply to :-
    Unai Emery
    Arsenal
    London N5

    1. I have seen Walter Kannemann a lot and he reminds me of Vermaleen, he is left footed and very quick, skillful, very strong and most of all the best tackler in the world right now. That is why they call him “the viking”. the only negative is that he is 28 and 184cm.

  4. the Italian press likes to link Arsenal’s name to players…he’ll go to one of the Italian clubs named and that club will pat itself on the back for beating Arsenal to a player…but our ‘interest’ is completely and utterly made-up

  5. Aubameyang
    Zaha Lacazette Robben
    Xhaka Torreira
    Kolasinac Koscielny Holding Bellerin
    Leno

    1. Robben is way too old, Kolosniac can’t play back 4, KOS is done, if he’s here next year it will be bad, Mert MKII, Xhaka really?
Torreira needs to sharpen up, good start but he tailed off badly and his passing is 60% at times.

    2. Which Robben is this ?

I hope he’s not Arjen Robben who will play 8 games very well, then goes for 30 matches injured. Then, season ends

  6. We need our Technical director to be skilled in finding talent early before the become well know players.

If our budget is always going to be restricted we need to do what Ajax did this year, or Leicester and Monaco preciously.

We need to get their technical directors

  7. @Twig, do you mean Arjen Robben? Are you kidding me???? Believe me we won’t get anywhere with that signing, no club with a right sense will sign him.

  8. No thank you.He is a left footed Socratis.Quick but not tall enough to command the box and like Socratis, lacks composure. One of the main reasons why Argentina have failed at the highest level is because of the poor quality of theircentrebacks. He is another example.

  9. I would sooner spend the majority of our transfer budget on defence.. this guy does not feel me with any inspiration that he is a leader and no European experience and a hand full of games for Argentina is not a great cv for a 28y.. I would sooner look to invest in more experienced players for a very important signing.. we are crying our for a tall, athletic type, strong on the ball and a natural leader.. we have done for years.. sokratis is not the man we should be building our defence around.. mustafi is a bloody liability.. kos is coming to the end.. as is Monreal.. holding chambers mavronapos are young but need guidance.. this is why it’s so important we make the right signing in this particular area.. now if the board had some balls they may cost us a few quid but surely umtiti or koulibaly or Maguire would be our dream signings but if we need to go cheaper Manolas or mings.. that’s wot I expect as a club with ambition to win titles.. not the odd cup here and there.. but can our stingy owner put his hands in his pockets and splash some cash for the 1st time since u bought into the club.. so we dont end up dithering around and signing cheap alternatives

We need CL football next year so that we can avoid signing players like kanneman.. just my opinion
