Arsenal send scouts to Serie A game to monitor potential Aaron Ramsey replacement with video

It is being widely reported in the Italian media that Arsenal has sent scouts to watch Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet.

CalcioMercato citing La Gazzetta dello Sport, was reporting prior to yesterday game between Sampdoria and Lazio that Arsenal scouts would be in attendance and that it was the Belgium international that they were going to watch.

Praet is being viewed as a possible replacement for the departing Aaron Ramsey and you have to think that we are seriously interested if we are sending scouts to monitor the player.

Apparently, the Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has admitted that they will probably be losing the 24-year-old in the summer and is looking to receive a fee in the region of £22 Million, a figure we can certainly afford.

Praet is an attacking midfielder in the same mould as Ramsey but with just two goals and two assists from 30 Serie A games this season he is hardly prolific.

That said, Juventus are also reportedly interested in his services and so he must have something about him that has two of Europe’s top clubs keeping an eye on him.

I have only really seen him on video and he does appear to be very talented, judge for yourselves in this video and comment on whether you feel he would be a good signing.

  1. “Now anyone can comment”

Well I can’t for some reason, my last 3 comments ignored, nothing offensive said etc.

    Enjoy your clique. Laters.

  2. If it was down to me to choose Praet or Toreira I would have gone for Praet he really has something Arsenal has been missing for a long time, he is the opposite of Ozil, and Toreira is good player technically but physically he doesn’t suit Arsenal and he will struggle in EPL big time. we should just do a direct swap and let Toreira go back to Sampdoria.

    1. Praet is an attacking midfielder, whereas Torreira is a DM. We don’t need another DM because Chambers and Torreira can compete with each other

We need a technically gifted playmaker that can control the tempo and scores or assists from set-pieces. Arsenal do not have highly skilled midfielder like this, not even the aging Ozil

      1. Chambers is a mid-table player and have said already Toreira doesn’t have a proper balance to play for Arsenal. Praet has very good ball retention and we don’t have that at Arsenal right now.

  3. We should also go after Bruno Sanchez of Sporting Lisbon, Andre Gomes (Everton) who is on loan from Barca, Leandro Trossard and Wesley Moraes. The entire Arsenal forward line needs to be replaced as Auba is not the same player he once said 3/4 years ago, also the whole back 4 needs to go.

    1. I think we could only get one 30+ M player, due to the budget. Unless we can sell several players

Gomes seems to have re-invented himself at Everton and he is good in dictating the tempo, but maybe that is because his current teammates are not on a par with his quality. Mustafi and him looked great at Valencia due to the lower quality of the players around them

He couldn’t shine like that at Barcelona, because Barcelona midfielders are more skilled, more energetic and more creative than him. I watched Suarez and him for three years during Enrique’s tenure, and I considered Rafinha and Suarez to be better

      1. That depends on how a player hand pressure at Barcelona there is a huge demand and he couldn’t have that – Barcelona and Madrid tend to sign any good player they can see but perform is another story – those two clubs have a lof politics you gotta be close to Messi or Ramos.

  4. After Nicolo Zaniolo and Kerem Demirbay rumors, now Arsenal descend to Dennis Praet

His goal and assist statistics are not good in Serie A this season. He was also not impressive during his stay at Sampdoria for two years

Certainly not worth 22 M. Better get Tanguy Ndombele if they want another box-to-box CM, Isco if Emery needs another CAM or promote Willock

    1. Promote Willock just look good on paper – we need to be a serious man if we need to compete again with big boys.

  5. Praet is a very talented attacking midfielder who would be a direct replacement for Ramsay .He has the same energy to cover the ground like Ramsay and is a good finisher. He has never really broken through at full international level but given the calibre of competition within the Belgium squad this should not preclude us from signing him. While I share your reservations ,Enagic with regard to Torreria I cannot see Emery contemplating a swap deal although it appeals to me after seeing Chambers doing well as DM for Fulham.Doucoure of Watford would be my first pick as a DM but he would be too costly for us.To sum up Praet would be a good buy at circa £20m.

  6. Thanks, Grandad
At least you understand good players, for most people here it’s about big names which most part we cannot afford to buy them and what I like about Praet is not fragile is a workhorse and never stop running and also very skilled.

  7. Budget budget ?
I don’t hear Liverpool city Chelsea taking budget
In fact I don’t here Leicester talking budget

Then again as they spuds and united will finish above us it’s understandable

The club has lost its identity and fans just continue to pay for their season tickets because “ someone else will have them”

    Baaa

    1. I don´t hear Arsenal speak about a budget either, only fans and reporters. Could you link to where they do please?

  8. How a team like Ajax can compete at very high level, killing giants one by one, with a cheap, very young and unknown squad? Why they don’t need star players to develop an amazing style of football?

    1. Media be saying that it’s not because Ajax won, it’s because Juve lost 😉 now you’re counting on them to knock Spurs out lol
Btw aren’t sampdoria going to elevate the asking price just because of who the interested party is? We already bought torreira from them. Plus don’t rule out the partnership Not working out over time. When we got Mkhi+Auba we thought we’d get their Dortmund partnership, turns out that one of them had become way too inconsistent.
