Arsenal are interested in adding Vinicius Junior to their squad this summer, and the move would represent one of the biggest transfers of the window, despite many supporters doubting whether the club can complete such a deal.
Vinicius has entered the final year of his contract at Real Madrid, and the Spanish giants would reportedly rather sell him than risk losing him on a free transfer next year. The Brazilian has also enjoyed outstanding form in recent months and was the standout performer for Brazil during the 2026 World Cup.
According to Sport, Real Madrid have opened the door to Vinicius leaving the club because they are unwilling to allow him to run down his contract. The report adds that the Spanish side have already set an asking price for the attacker.
Arsenal monitor Vinicius situation
Vinicius appeared determined to demonstrate that he deserves the salary he has been requesting from Real Madrid throughout the summer. However, the club have still not reached an agreement with him over a new contract, leaving uncertainty surrounding his long-term future.
His entourage are reportedly exploring the possibility of a departure, and Arsenal are eager to take advantage of the situation. The Gunners view the Brazilian as a player capable of transforming their squad and believe signing him would be a major statement of intent.
Record fee could be required
Real Madrid are expected to demand 160m euros for Vinicius, reflecting both his quality and his importance to the club. Any team hoping to secure his signature would therefore need to make a significant financial commitment.
If Arsenal continue to pursue the transfer, they are set to break the British transfer record to complete the deal. The club would have to meet Real Madrid’s valuation while also convincing the Brazilian that the Emirates Stadium is the right destination for the next stage of his career.
Although completing the transfer will be extremely challenging, Arsenal remain interested in the winger and will continue to monitor developments. The coming weeks are expected to determine whether the Gunners can turn their ambitious pursuit into one of the biggest transfers of the summer.

ADMIN COMMENT
So here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….
You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans. Everyone is allowed to hold their own opinions even if you disagree with them. It COSTS NOTHING TO BE POLITE TO OTHER ARSENAL FANS.

A really good player, but he’s ego would be a problem.
Rogers was better value for money than this, factoring in the wages – better chance of long term success with him as well.
This only makes sense if he becomes our main player for 5+ years and helps bring titles and champions League trophies during that time. Best I could see is a major bounce in the first year or two before things start to go wrong, and they could then go majorly wrong.
What happened to the idea of making star players instead of buying them? This seems far more sensible to me. Look for the next vinicius junior and build him up with the arsenal ethos
These are the sorts of buys we end up going for once we stop serious scouting!!
Then we become another Chelsea-PSG-Real Madrid ….. we’ll always be second best at it!!
Struggling to be excited about this
He’s won 14 trophies so not sure when you got this idea that he only would improves us for 2 years
Just made up ?
No, I can see the future? What a question.
Seems plausible a player could join and initially be fully invested, as they’ve only recently made the decision to join, but then start to lose interest or want more and more influence/control over the way things are run. E.g. manager decides to rest him in a game he wants to play, or even makes an outright mistake that costs a game, or Vini wants us to sign a player and the club disagrees – things happen and certain players want to have more control. I think he’s already shown a bit of what can happen with the xabi alonso sacking.
Davi, make you right about a player fully invested for a couple of years and then losing interest. Reminds me of the last time we signed a big name player from Real Madrid, a player by the name of Ozil.
Ozil didn’t lose interest after a couple of years though did he ?
I don’t think he was ever fully invested. I think he saw us as a nice easy way to round off his career – RM would always be the pinnacle
yeah but that’s doesn’t mean we can make things up
you thinking a player isn’t playing well doesn’t mean they gave up
it was Arsenal who chose to rip up his contract
Well he gave up in the semi final of the Europa League against AM when he just walked back after losing the ball, which resulted in AM scoring the goal that knocked us out.
so you have to win the Prem or CL and if not , you were not interested and gave up lol ?
that means your saying ….any player before last season for 22 years was not interested and given up
I swear you don’t watch Arsenal
Well winning a League and the CL seems to be your mantra for a good player.
I swear you like to have double standards.
By the way, I watch all of our games, and also watch other games when The Arsenal aren’t playing 😁
made up again lol
this is too easy
so if I now find a Prem or CL winner I have said is a good player will you admit that is something else you made up lol.
soz that was meant to be who isn’t
would like me to direct you too ….
let me name a few …… articles on …..
Giorud
Ramsey
Wilshire
Bellerain
to prove again that you either made it up or again don’t know who’s won what lol
We can have opinions based on what we saw with our eyes – you can call it making things up, but it’s not an uncommon opinion.
no it’s factually not true that he gave up after a couple of seasons
a couple is two ……..he played for 7 seasons at Arsenal lol
Well I only said I didn’t think he was fully invested (from the start) – bit of a difference. You don’t have to leave to not be fully invested (or give up tbf)
so why after two seasons ?
go look at his stats for the third
hence I think you made it up ?
or did you not mean 2 seasons now lol
see how it changes when peeps are challenged to tell the truth
I didn’t say anything about 2 seasons in relation to ozil, if you’re speaking to me here. I don’t think he was fully invested from the start. He loved his assist stats, sure.
You’re getting really desperate and being quite dishonest here. Just trying to find a “gotcha” for your “peeps” lol
And the reason I don’t think he was fully invested is that he didn’t seem to care when we lost out on titles etc. Seemed quite happy with how things were. So what he had good stats at times – he was better than most other players and some games were super easy for him. Rarely did anything of note on the big games though
no mate
I simply said to another reader I don’t think he gave up after s couple of seasons. …..
you then said it’s an opinion shared by many and that eyes do not lie right?
so I’m factually saying after a couple of seasons his stats don’t suggest that
it’s not a gotcha ……it’s simply made up lol
it didn’t happen
what am I meant to say ….Ozil stopped trying after 2 seasons when I knew it’s made up ?
Right, so crossed wires then.
no just next time don’t make things up or defend people who are
you won’t find many Arsenal fans who will say Ozil wasn’t trying in his third season yet you claimed that was a common opinion
if you look at his stats for season three …your see it’s made up
he was starting and lifting the FA Cup
some fans will make things up and hope you don’t notice or they lack the knowledge and just read something
no wait that was his second season ….third stats are even better ….go have a look
Did he win the PL and CL while with us ? Asking for a friend.
so now it’s changing …….
so now your saying it’s wasn’t a couple of seasons ….now it is he didn’t care us not winning titles
do you have any evidence to support that or again …..made it up ?
…or just your opinion
because we can all do that ..
watch …….Rice didn’t care we lost the CL because he stopped trying lol
see how easy it is to make things up
I didn’t change anything I said – you’re being dishonest again. All you seem to care about is winning the conversation – you never concede even the slightest thing and latch onto a single point or phrase. I am willing to do that when appropriate, because I go into there conversations in good faith.
I’m walking to concede points where appropriate*
Yeah he gave everything in every single game 🙄
so yeah every player who plays poorly it means they gave up lol ?
It does if they just walk back after losing the ball 😀
let me help you ……again proving you didn’t watch
in his third season he got 20 assist ( then a record ) and 8 goals and was Arsenal player of the season yet you comment…………
he was invested for a couple of years
so did you make that up or didn’t watch at the time ?
Oh I watched him in every game. It would seem you didn’t though.
well no ….you said after a couple of seasons he gave up / wasn’t interested
yes in reality season three he got 20 assists and was our player of the year lol.
so the two don’t add up
if you say you were watching why did you say he only showed an interest in his first couple of seasons lol.
soz using dodgy phone so words might be all over the place
I said he was losing interest. I never said he gave up/wasn’t interested.
Stop making things up.
So if s player gets 20 assists ( a record at the time ) , 8 goals and is named club player of season …..how is that him losing interest ?
That’s like saying if Maduake gets 20 assists next season and is named our player of the season …..oh he’s losing interest
Can you see how that makes no sense ?
Rodgers 232 games – 47 goals
V Junior – 376 games – 128 goals
Rodgers won
Won ….Europe League
V Junior – 3 Liga , 2 CL
So not sure where your getting this idea from
We have not been successful enough to be looking down on world class players
Rogers has no history of upsetting things at his clubs (that I’m aware of) and I’ve watched him dominating epl games for the last couple of years, so I’m confident he’d be ok.
Vinicius has a history of upsetting clubs, getting managers to leave and generally throwing his toys when things don’t go his way. Record wise, vinicius is better, talent wise, he’s also better, but I’d rather have someone I could trust isn’t going to mess things up for the club.
The fact it’s considered so likely this is all just something to gain leverage on Madrid for Vini’s new contract says plenty.
V Junior has history of also winning things and scoring goals so I think he be okay lol
Vinicius has a history of winning La Liga and Champions League including scoring in CL Finals
I rather have a footballer who scores more goals ….assists more ….and is a winner
The arrogance of our fan base says plenty
Can see exactly what will happen lol
Arrogant how? I don’t think you have the right word there. If I was saying arsenal are too good for him, fair enough (sort of, I think it would be arrogant to believe I’m better than him in some respect – thinking he’s not good enough at football to play for arsenal would instead be delusional, but hey ho), but the points I’ve made relate to his *behaviour* – I don’t want people who think they’re bigger than the club. I’ve also said I’d welcome better (world class) players, so long as they effectively show the right behaviour – barcola (world class label probably doesn’t fit just yet tbf) and Kvara specifically.
Ironic also that you want us to bring in arrogant players so as not to be arrogant ourselves?
I don’t know if this is your intent, but you did appear to call me arrogant for my view here. The “arrogance of the fanbase” line can easily be used to cover for a personal attack – I don’t think that was your intent, but thought I’d mention it.
arrogance is an overbearing sense of personal superiority, exaggerated self-importance, and a proud contempt for other people ( obviously applying to football )
I think you think Arsenal are better then they are and based on the players we have what right do you have to belittle and try and downplay players who are evidently better ?
You have your conclusion in mind and ignore any evidence to the contrary, which is rife throughout my recent comments.
I didn’t belittle vinicius, I said he was very good at football (better than our current attackers) but I question his character based on his reported behaviour – my reasoning has consistently been based on behaviour and not on football. This can’t be consistent with the arrogance definition you provide – I do not display proud contempt for others.
Part of my reasoning for not wanting him is that I don’t believe arsenal are good or big enough to swallow a major mistake on this level – real Madrid are. Therefore I don’t have an outsized sense of how good arsenal are.
Based on this conversation, my understanding of
Is that you think that the most talented footballers always bring the best outcomes (which leads one to wonder why team Madrid haven’t been so successful recently) – that’s fine if so, but my thought process is different. I think that’s all this is really about, no need to mind read any further into it about how good I believe our players to be etc and call people arrogant.
In any case, to use the word arrogant in this way is imo inflammatory and inaccurate – I don’t think you can be arrogant on behalf of an organisation. You can be deluded about how good they are, but not arrogant because the word relates to one’s view of oneself, particularly in comparison to others. I don’t tie myself to arsenal in that way.
Davi,
Well put, I enjoyed reading you’re latest post.
Davi, a very good post 👍👏👏
Needed saying
Invariably Dan uses the word arrogant in the wrong context and it most certainly is inflammatory
And lots of lols too SueP 😉
inflammatory is also mocking players like Mbappe , V Junior, Alvarez , Ronaldo and Messi
when we have players not at that level yes in the football bubble think that is arrogant
who are we to mock these players lol
so yes when we are left with Maduake but then have Gooners telling us why players above can’t suit us …I think that’s arrogant
Ok by your definition, but who are you talking about? I’ve not mocked any of them
why I said
The arrogance of our fan base says plenty
like Sue correctly points out I have said it before in general
also didn’t say you mocked them.
I think it’s arrogant to not realise V Junior is better then what we have but that’s you think what we have are better then they are
So none of that applies – I did say Vini is better than what we have. I just don’t want him for other reasons.
Maybe be more clear when you’re talking in generalities – how is anyone supposed to know.
I find your lack of self reflection here to be genuinely arrogant, frankly.
well no
if I say …..
The arrogance of our fan base says plenty……. that’s quite clear I’m talking about more then one person lol
there is nothing for me to reflect on lol……
I simply said that Ozil did not give up or lose interest after a couple of years
you said that’s your opinion but eyes tell us
so I pointed to the stats for his third season
The context of when you say the phrase matters – during a long string of comments between me and you, it suggests you’re pointing it at me. And you’re arguing Herr Driers points against me, ignoring the things I actually said. Come on, be real.
Unfortunately, you have introduced the term “arrogant” unnecessarily into this discourse. One can see that you don’t want to back down so you are introducing other issues and debates to muddy things.
In this case, Davi has raised some interesting considerations. These should be the focus of the discussion rather than accusing others of being “arrogant”.
One may not agree with Davi’s view but that doesn’t equate to him being arrogant. That others may have been arrogant in a different discussion is not really relevant to Davi’s point.
yes mate in the history of football , I think that clubs with the best players mostly win things
tell you what give me 10 of the greatest to never win a title or CL
and I’ll name those who did
and let’s see who end up with a better list
so for example Real Madrid brought Zidanne and Figo and guess what …..
then they brought Ronaldo and Bale and guess what
Barca had Messi and Eto and thought let’s get an Henry ….then a Neymar …then a Suarez and guess what happens
Chelsea and Man City got taken over and your never guess what happened when they spent money on world class players …?
but your argument is ……Arsenal shouldn’t sign a world class player because …..having a world class player could hurt us ?
“but your argument is ……Arsenal shouldn’t sign a world class player because …..having a world class player could hurt us ?”
Once again, it depends on the player. I’d love a world class player, just not one that’s likely to cause significant disruption, E.g. Kvara – this must be intentional. How many more times are you going to misrepresent (make up) my view on this?
On the substance – agree that’s very true for the Barca and RM teams you mentioned, although they also needed good managers to make it work. I think what you miss is that many (all?) of the key players for city and Chelsea weren’t considered world class when they were signed – they were thought to have very high potential, but they only became seen as world class due to their work at those big clubs. Kompany, aguero, toure, de bruyne, David Silva, drogba, essien, carvalho, robben etc – all had something to prove (makelele only exception I can think of, and I’m not even sure of that because he left RM after being underappreciated). That’s the model I prefer because you’re getting high quality players with strong motivation, rather than players with nothing really to prove, with potentially less clear motivations (who cares if I win nothing at arsenal, I’ve already done it anyway).
Also I do think the game has become far more tactical due to guardiola’s influence – psg shed their best player because he wouldn’t play his they wanted, and they became the best club in Europe – there’s a lesson there.
Barca and RM are a bit different – they are always the destination clubs. Whoever they sign will see it as their big move (even Henry to a large extent).
signing vini jr will go a long way to arsenal favour, winnin major trophies is iminent and i see him linking up his fellow country men to doing well in arsenal…all that arteta need to do now is to just break the bank and land vinh jr
Dan,
Without meaning to start anything here. Regards you’re comments on arrogance.
In a post the ither day, you said in a response to me, that if we sign Vinicius we walk the league. That can be construed as arrogance can’t it?.
yes lol
not arrogant if you can back it up mate
Thierry Henry was arrogant mate but backed it up
difference is we won’t be better with a Martinelli or Maduake or a …..Danny Welbeck while in the meantime V Junioir , Mbappe and Alvarez will be getting better numbers elsewhere
I’m going to end up with a World class 11 of players some Gooners have disrespected and it’s filled with World class players
Dan,
You say disrespected, well I’m afraid in Vinicius’s case. He fully deserves it by the way he conducts himself on the pitch.
Me and you are never going to agree on this subject. But it’s been an interesting conversation, none the less.
yeah it’s all opinions dude
