Why Arsenal should be cautious but NOT afraid of Chelsea

I am sure that every Arsenal fan would prefer it if Arsene Wenger and the players were heading to Stamford Bridge for our next Premier League match on Sunday to face a Chelsea side that was in disarray, but that is not the case, especially after they got their latest Champions League group phase off to a perfect start with a 6-0 win over Qarabag last night.

After the shock defeat at home to Burnley in their opening EPL game Chelsea have bounced back strongly and won all four since, including an away victory at Tottenham and Leicester and at home to Everton, so you have to say they are doing well and for that reason the Gunners must approach Sunday’s league meeting with caution.

However, I also think that Wenger and the Arsenal players should head across London without too much fear because we do have a good recent record against Antonio Conte’s side. The three Arsenal victories, in last season’s Premier League meeting at the Emirates and FA cup final before this season’s Community shield, have all seen us take the game to Chelsea and that should be the plan once again, without being too open and forgetting about being hard to beat of course.

A 6-0 win over the champions of Azerbaijan from a team which will be much different to the one we face should be no reason for Arsenal to be afraid of Chelsea. How confident are you of a result on Sunday, Gooners?

  1. It is going to be very difficult game… Forget about tactics and all, at least Wenger’s team selection must be spot on…. But I still feel Chelsea will surpass pass us easily with 3-0 or 3-1 victory for Chelsea…

  2. Chelsea is not our next game we should focus on Koln first and when we meet Chelsea on Sunday we will cross the bridge, Chelseas game will be tough but they are beatable and it’s not as if we haven’t done it before, we still did it like 5 game ago against them if I am not mistaken… I just wanna see my beloved Arsenal perform well on ALL front.

    1. Arsene needs to get his tactics on point. He has to set up the team in a defensive mode. Because if we leave ourselves open to counter attacks then we will be beaten silly. In other words we have to dig in.

  3. Wenger and everyone else knows what tactics and formation Conte’s Chelsea will use. Can Wenger devise a strategy that will counter them effectively and surprise them?

  4. It will be interesting to see how we play tonight, and who plays well. I would expect to see Sanchez at some point, even the last half hour to give him game time, however I would stick with Welbeck to start over Sanchez ( never thought I would say that ) If Jack or Reece have good games I would stick them on the bench.

Heart says If we play to our strengths we can win beat Chelsea, head would be happy if honours were even.
