Arsenal should cross this Brazilian off our wish list

I definitely think that Arsene Wenger needs to strengthen the Arsenal defensive options this summer, assuming that the Frenchman does not have a change of heart and hang up his zippy coat when the season ends of course. Maybe Calum Chambers is going to be a brilliant centre back in the future but he is not there yet and neither Gabriel or Per Mertesacker have been consistent and convincing alongside our best defender Laurent Koscielny.

So a lot of Arsenal fans were getting excited with the Arsenal transfer news that the PSG and Brazil star Marquinhos was on the radar of Arsene Wenger after he became frustrated with his role at the Paris club. The last straw for the 21-year old signed for £25 million from Roma a few years ago was being left out of the side for the Champions League clash with Man City.

So Arsenal and Man United were apparently preparing to slug it out for Marquinhos this summer, but The Sun is reporting that he has instead opted to sign for La Liga giants Barcelona. If that is true then Wenger will have to look elsewhere but I for one am not at all put out by this news.

After all, if the error prone David Luiz is regularly preferred to Marquinhos he cannot be performing that well. And I really think we need to sign an experienced centre back at the top of their game rather than one with a lot of potential and talent but not the finished article. What do you guys think? Who do you want next to Koscielny next season?

  1. It’s not at all like Wenger to go out and target someone like Marquinhos, how much did he go for. And I cant see him target someone like Hummels, or Godin neither, even though that’s more the calibre needed. We get rumoured for the Hummels signing but Wenger has his own ideas about defenders, namely he will not spend over thirty mil for one. Pity really, if we could get some mature monters behind our pretty pollies we could again see the best of Wenger. I don’t know, he must be miffed when people say he had it good in the beginning because of what was there. He can and has had some good defenders over the years but I think we play too open at times. Back to the leader thing I suppose, some leadership on the field probably would have sorted that out.

    1. DeLusion is when u think u need “Leadership” on the pitch , when u got none on the TouchLine nor the B.O.D

          1. Every top manager has leaders on the pitch, they are an extension of themselves. No top manager in the world has ever won anything without leaders in there side. To suggest that the leadership should alone come from the touchline is probably the most ridiculous thing Iv heard in a while. The manager sets his game plan pre-game, and makes adjustments during game, the leaders in the team are there to implement said game plan.

  2. Pelligrini could win the CL, already won League Cup, finish 3rd in PL and leave
Wenger could finish 5th behind Spurs and Leicster, win no trophies and stay with a 3 year contract extension LOL

  3. Lets pray for Leicester winning the title, and London gooners, you should be seeking for hiding places by now. I’m surprise that none of spuds fans are intrude this site yet. If we lucky, they’ll only have St. Arse Day to celebrate.
I think, we are (almost) done here. Surprise to see Spuds have finished their overhaul successful in two years. I can’t see ours, unless Arsene buy a brand new “brain” and replace his old one.

    1. St totts day is because it always comes round, like a bank holiday. One season finishing above a team and trying to make a holiday out of it is cringeworthy ..embarrassing to say the least.
