Arsenal star always giving 100% to keep out international stars

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has claimed that he is always giving his all on the pitch, knowing that there is a number of players ready to play in his place.

The 20 year-old broke through into the first team in early 2016, and has become a regular starter for Arsene Wenger, keeping Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lucas Perez, Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott all out of the team in different periods.

Iwobi has now revealed his surprise at his rise into Wenger’s plans, and stated that he will continue to give his all in order to keep that spot.

He said: “Honestly I didn’t expect to be where I am today. I thought a long time ago that I’d be on loan and probably get experience there before having experience in the first team, but the fact that the boss trusted me to jump into the first team as quick as I did, I’m just grateful for it.

“The same way I was able to break into it is the same way that I take the chance now.

“I play like it’s almost like my last game, I treat it like it’s my last moment here, so I do my best and I always put 100 per cent into whatever I do.”

“If you don’t do as well as you think you could’ve done, there’s other players, other international, great players, that can just step in. So you just have to take the chance all the time and do your best when the time comes.

“The big thing is you need to stay fit and always need to give it your all. I mean, you’ve got to have the right attitude, you’ve got to be mentally prepared for whatever happens.

“Not everything is going to be smooth sailing for you so you’ve got to be prepared for all conditions.”

Is his attitude a big reason why Wenger believes in him so much? Does he deserve to be ahead of his rivals in the first-team?

  1. Whoever is playing the best for the team deserves to be in..I don’t care if he is an full international like ozil or a non international like coquelin. If they are making the team win I want them in.

Lets face it arsenal have had some great players that haven’t played much international football over the years, lukic, Bould Winterburn, Davis, thomas. Richardson, williams, Marwood, smith. Not sure how many caps they got between them? But they were certainly good enough to keep much more technical players out other team.

  2. Iwobi doesn’t score goals
    He rarely assists
    He doesn’t defend

He doesn’t deserve a start for Arsenal FC at the moment.

    1. Just say that he does not belong there, who do you want to replace him with? Iwobi has the potential to become very very good, and to become very very good he needs to play as much as possible.

I do too agree that he should not be a starter in the team, but compared to what we have, he is the best choice.

We need a new striker, shift sanchez to left, coz the striker role is not his, and use iwobi from the bench, bec what i deff dont want to see is young iwobi losing his cool.

  3. Iwobi is an excellent player and deserves his starting spot until somebody better takes it from him. Maybe Lucas. Maybe Alexis will go back to Left, who knows. However, at the moment Iwobi deserves starting position

Iwobi’s Strengths: Power, passing (short and long), through balls, dribbling, trickery, pace, work rate, holding on to the ball, assists

    Weakness: Defending, lack of goals

But he is only 20 and has time to improve

  4. AW sees a different thing in Iwobi and he once hinted it to him that he wants him to become the future ozil.in the mean time only ‘Twig’ can replace him fro the starting 11.!

  5. Have you taken your time to see the distance Iwobi covers in every he plays? His workload? He’s one of the attack minded players we have instead of side passing.
