Him not being in the first two squads of the season could be Arsenal protecting an asset from injury, hence making sure they’ve got a fit Martinelli to sell. 🤷♂️
Agree Derek, there are many possible very normal, professional, and even non-football related reasons why he hasn’t been in the squads, even just from his end of things. We simply don’t know at this point but I really doubt that it’s just a matter of all of sudden the Arsenal unjustly disrespecting or mistreating a long-time player.
Derek, interesting that the latest is that Martinelli is supposedly heading to the same Saudi club as Ollie Watkins. Ollie wasn’t in AV’s squad against Brighton.
I question the validity of the claim that “his output has declined in the last few seasons” Martin.
His output in the CL last season was top notch and one of the reasons we got to the final.
As for the gist of the article, it seems many Gooners are also disappointed and perplexed by the situation!!
100% it has declined Ken. He was great in the CL where the low block is not a problem. But he was awful and not effective at all in the prem. He used to be a very good sub to bring on but even that effectiveness wained. Probably the most frustrating player we have had for years at Arsenal because he had the potential but the truth is, it never developed.
But he could have been part of the team against Man City and receive his medal without playing. Arteta said it as because of numbers but City had more players on the bench than ours and when our players got medals there were extras that remained in the basket when our players received the winners medals.

Agree, you may or may not disagree with selling or not selling Martinelli but, it is what happens.
Agree Break on through, and it’s kind of sad because the pundits who started with these other ideas know all too well the truth of your last sentence.
I doubt that he is surprised as he has been getting less premier league game time over the last season and is no longer considered a starter.
He isn’t a starter now. He played in the CL last season, where the low block is rarely played and his pace could be utilised and it was. But the premier league, he has become less and less effective and his head down balls out technique is not good enough any more. We all move on and good luck to him.
I feel sorry for him, he appears to have been over managed, always going for the bi line, when often cutting back inside would be a better option, be sorry to see him go
I also feel sorry for him, he’s been with us for such a long time, and you could never question his commitment.
With that said, I do feel we can upgrade in that area, and if that means Martinelli has to go, so be it.
I just hope it is all being done in an amicable way and not just being shoved out the door as per what most media outlets are saying.
People who play professional football at a high level are privileged in that they earn huge rewards for engaging in a sport which is loved by so many throughout the World.Martinelli is without a doubt one of the hardest working players I have ever seen in an Arsenal shirt and he deserves a lot of respect for what he has brought to the Club and the way he has conducted himself .He may not have developed into the super star which was on the cards early in his career, but ,in mitigation, perhaps he could have been used on the RW or as a central striker where his pace could have been productive,particularly in counter attacking situations.No doubt our Management team has considered various options to get the best out of Martinelli, and they are of course better placed than any fan when it comes to making judgements of this nature.In any event, if GM moves on I am sure he will go with the best wishes of a huge majority of Arsenal fans.
