Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly considering a departure from Arsenal this summer, just one season after joining the club, with the Swedish striker said to have one specific destination in mind.
Gyokeres arrived at the Emirates as one of the best strikers in the world after impressing during his time with Sporting Club. His performances for the Portuguese side made him highly sought after, and he could have joined another major club if Arsenal had not secured his signature.
Gyokeres Linked With Barcelona Move
The striker’s first season in England could have been better on an individual level, but he still helped Arsenal win the league title and produced some important moments for the team. His second season is expected to bring greater expectations, although his future is now reportedly uncertain.
According to Team Talk, Gyokeres wants to move to Barcelona during this transfer window. The report claims that the striker has told the Catalan club that he would love to join them and has asked them to make their move as they search for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The reported interest gives Barcelona another option as they consider their attacking plans. Gyokeres has already demonstrated his ability to score goals at a high level, and his experience at Sporting made him one of the most prominent strikers available when he joined Arsenal.
Barcelona Consider Attacking Options
Barcelona have failed to sign Julian Alvarez since the end of last season, and they could now turn their attention towards another striker. Gyokeres is reportedly among the players they could approach as they look for a solution in attack.

I’ve just read that his old club Coventry are wanting him for £45 million, but cannot verify if true or not.

If this happens to be true, don’t let the door hit you in the bum on your way out Victor. Otherwise, I’d like to give him another PL season to show if he can consistently provide not only the physical presence but also the technical skills we need from an effective striker.
I’ve seen reports that he’s looking forward to the new P L season with Arsenal.
I’ve also seen reports where he says that he feels in better shape physically in this pre-season than he did in pre-season last year.
Arteta has also said a couple of times, when asked, that he is fully in his plans for Arsenal this season.
We have all probably seen all of these stories.
Personally, I think – and hope it’s clickbait
Barca has other 9s way higher on the shortlist to replace Lewandowski and Torres. He’s apparently on the longlist (which shouldn’t surprise anyone), so even if he WAS open to the idea (which also wouldn’t be that surprising) it’s a nothingburger right now.
By all accounts he’s expecting, and still happy, to be at Arsenal this season.
Arsenal should not consider selling him without perfect replacement like Julian Alvarez, or Victor osinhem. And now a days attackers are difficult to get as every club that own them don’t want to sell without astronomical figures.
This is crazy. We absolutely need Gyokeres this season, unless we have a similar #9 waiting to be signed. Last year he started for us on Day 1 with Havertz out. Sure, he didn’t put up goals, but he was new to the PL and worked his socks off as we were winning. He started to put up numbers 2nd half and is likely improve this year with Odogaard back to full effectiveness and Bruno on the pitch. Is Havertz going to stay healthy all year and play 50 games? If Havertz misses a few weeks or needs a roatation – who comes on as Number 9 – Merino? Jesus? Martinelli?
We have got to this point where we have developed depth in the squad to allow quality rotation to compete on all fronts – and the first thing that comes to mind is to get rid of the very players giving us this depth and rotation.
Is Gyokeres going to be the next Haaland? Obviously not, but he is a critical player on this team to give us depth, rotation and a different look – and insurance against losing Havertz for any period of time.
Let’s go and repeat as Champions, compete on all fronts and not play Fantasy Football with our lineup.
Our recruitments to date somewhat shift our play from a ltra-defensive to offensive for sure.
The pressure that Tzolis and Bruno bring with them will certainly occupy opponents’ defenses and open spaces for Gyokeres so much that he’ll love the whole season to ever want to leave at a time.
Gyokeres’ not going anywhere!!
There are many indications that Gyökers will continue the positive development from the latter part of last season. My feeling is that he will get better in line with better servicing from the wings. But if it’s true that he has his head elsewhere than at Arsenal, then I have to say it disappoints me. Then we might as well sell him, because then he is not 100% dedicated to the Arsenal project.
Are you sure VG your style is suitable to theirs? I’m afraid it might be like oil and water. Their strikers keep themselves away from defenders and your instinctual drive is to wrestle with them. Historically those who went from Arsenal to Barca don’t succeed

Nothing surprises me anymore in football. VG made his desire very plain last summer in his intentions to join Arsenal so he’s got previous.
That said, he’s just won the EPL, and this story has just been released- virtually the night before the new season- which smells a bit fishy to me to be true.
Pretty certain there’s no truth to it SueP. I wouldn’t blame him for being intrigued by the prospect, and apparently he’s down on the long list somewhere, but all signs point to this being just more transfer journo noise. They’re supposedly going after Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Tresoldi now they can’t get Alvarez.
