Martin Zubimendi has reportedly reopened the door to a move to Real Madrid this summer after Arsenal beat the Spanish giants to his signature and added him to their squad a year ago.
Xabi Alonso wanted Real Madrid to sign Zubimendi, but the club decided against pursuing a deal at the time. The midfielder instead moved to the Emirates, where he helped Arsenal win the Premier League title.

Personally, I don’t think he really wanted to come to Arsenal but Real were not that enthused in the end. I do think he struggled with the pace and power of the prem and never looked (to me) in love with his lot. I would be surprised if Real really followed up with any offer or real interest. He isn’t a Maureen type player.
Plus Real want Rodri. No contest, if Rodri wants Real.

True Reggie, I like what I saw from MLS in Champions League near end of the season.
I remember several times MLS dribbled defender, drove forward to break their lines, opening things up for attackers. He seems more direct and better partner for Rice.
Zubimendi is not press resistant like he was advertised to be; all the sideways and back passing far too much. The league sussed him out, we saw the big drop off after that, and eventually MLS looks the better fit.
I’d trade Zubimendi if decent offer came. I’d rather have Kone tbh, never been impressed with Zubimendi in the PL, not a good match.

Based on “sample size” from Zubi, I say MLS came out looking better. Besides, after starting then getting benched after getting sussed out by opponents.
I hope Zubi will be better this year, but I’m not sure he is a good fit for the league.
Not as press-resistant as advertised; MLS handled it better, and I think that’s why he got the nod over Zubi in big games down the stretch; quite telling really.

What is the reputation of Football365?
If we are signing Bruno Guimarães we might sell a midfielder.
If Zooby has not “instructed his agent to get him moved to Real Madrid” he needs to come out quickly and say it.

I’ll tell you what I think, Football365 got it from Madrid, not Zooby’s team. It’s how they operate in big Spain clubs it’s how they tap up. They get Zooby by Arsenal fans queuing up to drive him there, when he hadn’t even asked for move.
I think he does have talented skills sets, receiving and distributing the ball – you can see why pundits and managers rave about him, becuase all those sides struggling for form are struggling to get their receiving and distribution going.
I think he has plenty to give us as he enters his more experience years, his skills set can work for an 8 perhaps even 10, not just at 6.

It would not be the biggest surprise to me if Zubimendi was to leave, not necessarily to Real Madrid either.

The important thing,is to think of replacement in case he puts up a transfer request, Arsenal don’t hold on to a player that wants to go.
As long as he’s replaced with someone better I’m happy for him to leave, especially if his heart isn’t in it here. The way his performances dipped from half way through the season, I suspect that’s the case.
More likely not used to the intensity of the league week after week. He will probably handle it better next session.
He was a great player in the six months then fatigue set in. Losses ball position easily and in risky areas, low on quick progression, press resistance and quick passes. Bruno G will reduce his minutes after Rice recovers fully. He should stay for one more year.
