Arsenal step up their interest in 18-year-old La Liga talent

According to recent reports, Real Valladolid’s talented fullback Ivan Fresneda is attracting attention from Arsenal as a potential transfer target.

The 18-year-old Spaniard has emerged as one of the most promising young right-backs in Europe, with the added ability to seamlessly transition into midfield during his team’s possession phase – a characteristic that perfectly aligns with Arsenal’s preferred style of play.

German outlet Bild has revealed that Arsenal has already made a substantial and tempting offer for Fresneda, signalling their keen interest in securing his services ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

This comes after previous speculation linking the young defender with a move in January, which ultimately didn’t come to fruition. Real Valladolid, now looking towards the future, seem open to potential negotiations.

In addition to Arsenal’s pursuit, Borussia Dortmund from the Bundesliga is also reportedly monitoring Fresneda’s situation closely.

This suggests that the talented teenager has caught the attention of multiple top clubs, further enhancing his status as one of Europe’s brightest emerging talents.

Just Arsenal Opinion

To be honest I do not know too much about Ivan Fresneda but according to all the reports he is supposed to be something special and Mikel Arteta does have a good record with youngsters, to a certain degree.

If the club want him then we have to trust their judgement.

  1. He is something special from what I’ve seen of him in LaLiga and a cut above young Norton Cuffy who has had a good season with CoventryHe is a natural right back who excels in defence and attack and would be a talented addition to our squad. In view of the doubts which are emerging concerning the likelihood of Saliba signing a new contract, we may have to use White and/or Tomi as centre backs next season ,particularly as it appears that Holding will be moving on.

    1. Using White will weaken our CB pairing. He is not anywhere nearly effective enough in the air and not powerful or strong enough either to be a top CB.

If SALIBA refuses a new contract, then we MUST bring in a new REAL TOP CLASS CB. No more Wenger type long list of CB duds

      1. For Jon
Completely, agree with you on Ben White. He is a RB or even holding midfielder but not a CB. He is weak in the air (in fact Holding is better).
I do not understand why we are going for a right back as we have White, Tomiyasu and Norton Cuffy who is the best of the 3 in my opinion.
If we are alloking at defence we need a left back (as KT is most likely leaving) and a CB if Saliba is leaving. Personally, I would go for an old fashioned one like Dunk @ Brighton or Tarkowski @ Everton.
Even if it is not one of those types go for a P player than look abroad.

  2. Has a good heat map on sofascore, which shows he works hard for the team, a bit like Teirney. His passing is -average to good- in the opposition half. His tackling and crosses are -average- at best but he is still young. The problem with Arsenal is the centre half position with Injury prone Saliba stalling over signing a new contract. I said it before, Saliba is not to be trusted. He is Anelka 2.0 in the non emotional way he celebrates, his mannerism. He is not passionate for Arsenal and like Anelka did, he will try and screw Arsenal over. Due to his injury worry, Arsenal should offer him a short 4 year contract with game time bonuses as add-ons taking his wages in excess of £180 thousand per week with a wage review after 2 years. If he does not accept that then they should sell him for £80 million and buy Kim Min-iae from Napoli.

  3. Had seen the kid twice and he certainly played well,
Arsenal should have sign this kid a year ago and loan back immediately but not sure what went wrong.

  4. If you look at what is offered for Teirney, a measily £30 million for an established young international, then Fresneda should be no more than £15 million in comparison. If they pay £20 million for freshers then Teirney should be sold for no less than £40 million as he should be worth double the cost of Fresneda who is average at best.Arsenal always sell their players too cheap.

    1. Thanks for your info on Fresneda.Being of the old school when it comes to assessing players I trust my eyes and knowledge of the game before any stats, which can often be entirely misleading.
