Arsenal still hopes a swap deal can unlock their move for Englishman

Arsenal is showing clear intent in its pursuit of Eberechi Eze, as Mikel Arteta aims to continue strengthening his squad ahead of the new campaign. The Crystal Palace midfielder has emerged as one of the Gunners’ top targets, with the club confident that his arrival would significantly enhance their attacking options.

Eze has enjoyed an impressive spell at Selhurst Park and recently helped Palace secure the FA Cup, a victory that also ensured their qualification for the Europa League. While Palace would prefer to retain the services of one of their key players, they have protected their position by inserting a release clause into his contract.

Arsenal Exploring Player-Plus-Cash Deal

Eze is understood to be open to a new challenge, though he has no intention of forcing a move or creating unnecessary disruption. Arsenal, however, is eager to finalise the deal in the coming weeks and is exploring ways to make the transfer more attractive for Palace.

As cited by Express Sports, the Gunners are prepared to include Leandro Trossard as part of their bid for Eze. The Belgian attacker could be used as a makeweight in negotiations, offering Palace an experienced Premier League player in return. Trossard has shown quality during his time at the Emirates, but his opportunities may become limited should Eze arrive.

This proposed swap deal could benefit all parties involved. Palace would receive a capable replacement who is ready to contribute immediately, while Arsenal would add a dynamic and creative presence in midfield.

Trossard’s Future Tied to Eze Arrival

If the transfer goes through, Eze would likely assume a similar role to Trossard in Arteta’s system, which could leave the Belgian surplus to requirements. Given the potential lack of playing time, it may be in Trossard’s best interest to move on, particularly if it facilitates the arrival of a high-profile signing.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Eze reflects their continued ambition and commitment to building a squad capable of challenging for major honours. Should the deal be finalised, it would mark another bold move in what is shaping up to be a busy and strategic summer at the Emirates.

  1. OT. Just read that Arsenal included sell-on clauses in the contracts of Mika Biereth, Xhaka ( to Suunderland), Ramsdale ( to Newcastle), Mark McGuiness (we got 2 million for his transfer from Cardiff to Luton) and a couple others. Nice piece of business as we would be getting sum extra cash this summer. I didn’t know about these clauses at the time of sale, those deals now look a lot more better than I thought previously.

    1. Good news and good business. It all helps and with a puny £7m brought in so far this summer (against over £200m spent), Arsenal needs every £.

    2. Yeah someone was complaining just the other day about the Biereth upfront sale price being so low, when they somehow perceived we should have been able to get 10x as much for him. Clearly if we could have actually got that, we would have jumped at it! But those sell-on clauses pay real dividends.

  2. Player-Plus-Cash deals hardly ever happen – and there’s a reason. It can often be difficult enough getting one player moved from club A to club B. Trying to get two players to move consecutively makes that potentially a lot more difficult – two sets of terms to agree: wages, add-ons, contract length, agent’s and other fees etc.

I guess it’s worth a try, but Arsenal needs to have a Plan B ready to move quickly if (when?) it doesn’t work out as reports today suggest Liverpool may be taking an interest in Eze.

  3. It would be great for Arsenal if they can swop Eze for Trossard but the point is whether Palace will accept such a proposal. Eze is an excellent player to have and will immediately raise the level at arsenal, which is already very high.

  4. With a war chest to the tune of £300 mil that was reported, nothing should stop Arsenal from the recapture of Eze.

I would start the Crystal Palace Man ahead of our Captain against low blocks team.

  5. Good swap – Eze for Trossard.
Am sure Trossard would be happy with that.

    1. Well, if Trossard isn’t then that option is out of the window and we’re back to the cash and how it’s paid.

  6. With all due respect, Trossard deserves a bigger club than Palace. I think he not go to Palace.

  7. A fair comment re Trossard but Arsenal need Eze so unfortunately it’s not time to be sympathetic, especially after Arsenal’s poor performance today against Tottenham in HK. Play like that in the Prem and they won’t even finish 2nd or make it past the last 8 in the Champs.
Don’t ask me what Arteta was thinking of today re playing Havertz instead of Gyokeres! For me it’s time for Havertz to leave to. We have Merino.
