Gabriel Jesus now appears to be closing in on an Arsenal exit, with Barcelona reportedly expecting the Brazilian striker in Spain on Monday to undergo a medical examination.
According to reports, negotiations between Arsenal and Barcelona are at an advanced stage, with the Gunners having already given Jesus permission to travel to the Catalan capital.
The report claims the cost of the deal is expected to be around €10 million, while Barcelona have offered the 29-year-old a two-year contract with the option of a further season.

This represents a significant development in the striker’s future after it appeared Napoli were the club most likely to offer him a route away from the Emirates.
As we reported on Friday, the Serie A side had shown concrete interest in Jesus but needed to move another attacker out of their squad before being in a position to complete a deal.
Barcelona now appear to have moved ahead of the Italian champions.
Mundo Deportivo report that Jesus is expected in Barcelona on Monday after Arsenal gave him permission to undergo his medical, suggesting negotiations have progressed considerably.
The Catalan giants have been looking for a recognised centre-forward following the departure of Robert Lewandowski, with manager Hansi Flick having previously identified the position as one Barcelona needed to strengthen.
Jesus would therefore arrive with an opportunity to compete for significantly more first-team football than currently appears available to him in north London.
Jesus has fallen down the Arsenal pecking order
Mikel Arteta addressed Jesus’ absence from his squads earlier this week, explaining that it was connected to Arsenal’s numbers and the individual circumstances surrounding certain players.
“Well, it’s something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment and the way we’re managing that kind of situation individually with all the players that have some personal situations,” Arteta said.
Jesus has fallen behind Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz in Arsenal’s attacking pecking order, leaving him with little prospect of regular minutes if he remains at the Emirates beyond the transfer deadline.
The Brazilian has now spent four seasons with Arsenal after joining from Manchester City, but injuries have repeatedly disrupted his time in north London.
A move to Barcelona would nevertheless represent an impressive destination for the striker and could provide him with the fresh start and regular football he needs.
For Arsenal, accepting a fee of around €10 million would bring an end to another high-earning contract and continue the club’s work to reshape Arteta’s squad before the window closes.
With Arsenal reportedly allowing Jesus to travel for his medical, this now looks considerably closer to completion than the speculation surrounding his future earlier in the week.

Martinelli, Jesus and Viera all agreed today for 72 mil. Jesus and Viera are massive loses and poor sales but Martinelli is our new record. There is still time for players to go and cone in. Are we going to hijack anyones potential buys?

Poor Arsenal FC…same Jesus and Vierra Chealsea would have sold for more than double the figures they were bought.

A kept saying Jesus could come alive with a change of scenery, this could prove just what the doctor ordered for the highly technical Brazilian International.
Hope this is not a case of Van Persie all over again, the Dutchman spend a great deal of time on the treatment table at Arsenal, he remained fit for one season and was then shipped out the following campaign, the rest is history.
The fee is a joke though, the Catalán Giant is desperate, so Arsenal should have made them pay , even a call to Alvarez with instructions to join the champion, with some kinds of arrangements, should have been part of the deal to sign Jesus, stranger things have happened
Van persie was always incredibly good when he played for arsenal, it was only ever injuries that held him back and was no surprise he did so well after he left.
Jesus was really good for the first few months but never really recovered after the injury he sustained at that time – whether due to that injury or not, he never looked the same since. If he joins Barcelona and does much better, it will be because of their attacking style and la liga being different to the EPL, it will not mean we’ve lost a top player – with all respect to him, because I do like him and found his downfall sad to watch (I loved his early matches – I love watching players do things that look impossible, and he was physically and technically dominant in a way that didn’t look possible), we can easily afford to let him go now.
Not a great fee (although his injury record is responsible for most of the loss value), but getting superstar wages off the books for a 3rd choice player is decent work.
Now we either back Noni & Eze to play on the left regularly, with Nwaneri and Dowman frequently getting minutes to help take some load off and Saka, or we urgently need a left winger.
Also Eze/Nwaneri/Dowman/Merino to rotate with Odegaard on occasion. And Merino to get some minutes at 9 as well (and be backup when one of Havertz or Gyok get injured).
Making the most of our (still pretty abundant) resources – or a failure to land a superstar this window? Many (most?) will disagree with me, but I’m actually pretty positive on this.
We absolutely need a LW now. Martinelli would defend and score sometimes, Madueke doesn’t do much of either. Relying on him is too risky, hopefully not left things too late in this window.
Don’t have much confidence in either Noni or Eze on the LW, at least according to the evidence of them playing that position.
So who do we get in as replacements?
I’m not sold on Alvarez as were not his first choice but options seem limited,
If we’re truly only trying to sign players that will take us to the next level then gapko and olise would be my choices but in honesty I doubt we will get either, so who’s left that isn’t injured or overpriced?
I’m happy (though nostalgic because Jesus brought a champion’s mentality to our team and scored some great goals), but we were paying him a huge wage to be third choice striker (fourth choice if you count Merino). I’m glad he and Viera are off our books, and I’m glad we recouped a bit of money for a guy who has never come close to looking like the same player we bought following his knee surgery.
Ppl keep complaining that we sell bad, but I think that changes moving forward w the squad we now have, the youngsters we have been bringing in, and that we’ll be in a continuously stronger financial situation w more success (and thus have more leverage in negotiations).
Will miss Martinelli and wish him the best. He definitely hit a plateau w us, but he scored lots of important goals and always gave his all whether he was having a bad game or not.

Those in charge of selling players in Arsenal should be shown the exit door or taken to Chelsea FC to learn about selling players. How can you sell Jesus for €10m when Delap was sold for £50m, injured 30 year old Rodri for €70m, Ollie for £50+m? While we got the same 29 year old for £70m. It’s not adding up and not making sense. Now that Nelly is gone, who’s coming as replacement? I read about Fernandez Pardo, who knows anything about him?
There needs to be the right market for Jesus and there was not. He is injury prone, not that good anymore and was on 250k a week. Delap was on low wages, Rodri just showed he’s the best midfielder in the world again, Watkins has a Saudi buyer. Getting Jesus out the door was always making the best of a bad situation. His wages are gone is the main victory.
Though no doubt Chelsea would’ve somehow managed more but not much more. There is a reason they’ve stuck to buying only young players the last several years until just this summer. Jesus they would never have signed due to all the signs that pointed to poor resale value
Totally agree RSH. Chelsea seem to buy the best players at the time and sell them 1/2 year later.
