Arsenal suffer blow in their bid to sign Dani Ceballos permanently

Real Madrid has rejected Arsenal’s offer to make the transfer of Dani Ceballos permanent.

Arsenal signed the Spanish international on loan for the season and he has been impressive for them so far. Ceballos has netted once and provided two assists as Arsenal bid to return to the Champions League next season.

His performances this season have impressed Unai Emery and reports from Spain claims that the Spaniard has made a bid of £26million to make his move permanent.

The report claims that Arsenal’s bid fell short by £4million as Real Madrid are looking to sell him for £30million.

Ceballos has recently talked about his future and admitted that he enjoys playing at the Emirates Stadium. He also intimated he won’t mind spending the rest of his career at Arsenal.

The 23-year-old offers Arsenal more creativity in midfield as Unai Emery continues to sideline Mesut Ozil.

Real Madrid is looking to sell off some of their star men and make room for new signings to refresh their squad. Ceballos is not rated much by Zinedine Zidane who has to sell so he can sign targets like Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante.

  1. If this is true then he would be a steal in today’s transfer market. He is young, has good workrate, attitude and can dribble with the ball unlike the other midfielders.

  2. Wait till Ceballos shows some consistency before increasing the bid

We can spend a little bit more for James Maddison

    1. James will cost an arm and leg?..we need to look elsewhere for creativity…Erikson and k de brune are a good example!!

      1. let’s not build a castle in the air. Those guys cant join us.Let go for the realistic ones.BTW ceballos hasn’t been consistent tho

    2. I don’t often agree with your comments Gotanidea but I do on this occasion. In my opinion his constant dribbling slows the game down and he is not direct enough for me. Too many sideways passing which against The Blades was a waste of time because we had no one who could cross a ball except for the benched Tierney.

I also agree about Maddison who is much more direct would bring much needed bite and quality to our midfield.

    1. He’s better than what we have. Better than Ozil Xhaka. Maybe not good enough for us but better than those players. Ceballos may have had one good game this season so far but Ozil has had 1 good game in 3 years

      1. We are talking about Ceballos and Maddison. What’s Ozil got to do with anything? He’s not even in the squad anymore. And because, in your opinion, he’s better than what we’ve got is a stupid reason to buy him. Personally I don’t rate Emery’s choice of player, remember Dennis Suarez, Sokratis, Lichtsteiner. And by the way, get that Ozil chip of your shoulder, it’s starting to get a bit boring now.

  3. We need to hang fire until he shows form that keeps him in the starting 11 first. I don’t think we could lure Madison to the Emirates but I believe Jack Grealish wouldn’t be a bad alternative.

      1. Sue, which ever player we bring in it is going to be the same under Emery. Let’s see what he achieves with crops of players he has now before the clubs give him more

        1. Ha, well I’m thinking ahead… after he’s gone! The way things are going, I can’t see him being here much longer!!

          1. You may be right Sue but I fear he is well in with his compatriot Raul, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they give him a 3rd year. AFC rarely hire and fire the only exception was Rioch.

I agree with you, it’s good to see Jon back, it was starting to get boring without him.

  4. Now would be the smart time to buy, so long as you believe in his potential. They’ve looked at him in training, we’ve seen him on matchdays, he’s not long here and he’s looked good in the Spanish youth set-up, so now is the right time to get him for a good price, January at earliest but I think we’ll wait until end of season. It’s a risk if bought in Jan but it’s a calculated risk because we have an idea about the player already.

I don’t believe we are in talks about this player yet, we’ve just loaned him so I doubt we are trying to bring everyone to the negotiating table already, this is just rumour imo, but we’ll see.

    1. @Break-on-through
      Potentials? No!
Arsenal arrived here because the former Manager’s option was limited to potentials. Let us be very clear of our needs. Potentials are to be recruited for ” Acadas” First team players should be already matured players, who do not necessarily have to be Messi or Ronaldo, but pragmatic and dynamic and very, very organised minded, on or off the ball be very tactically aware.

  5. I feel we should try for Isco instead…… well, unless Ceballos is also being hinged by Emery’s tactics

  6. Even the coach is not convincing in is approach, so how are these guys, Raul and Edu rushing into this business as if he was Auba that has been carrying the team on his shoulders.

  7. Infact we have a good team,what we miss is a good coach,emery lack ambitions,team direction,plan b,he can’t read the game,most of the time in pitch we loose possesion,no attacking, no player can orginise the defence,poor team selection,boring football for the all 90 minutes,no leadership,watching arsenal nowdays made me sick,i still remember those days,j.lehman,lauren,campbell,kolo habib,cashley cole,girlberto silva,patrick vieira,denis bergkamp,thiery henry,robert pires,fridie lujernberg

  8. Well spot on. It’s just 9 games and he’s already lost his spot in starting line up against MU and then again on Monday. Too bad Torreira and Willock didn’t take their chance.

  9. I would rather add a couple more millions and get Isco instead, Cebalos looks okay-ish but I am not yet sold and will give him until the end of the season to make a judgement but I am yet to see anything that would justify or warrant a permanent move.
