Arsenal swoop on Chelsea woes to pinch top transfer target

The turmoil that Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Chelsea have been going through ever since the Gunners beat them to lift the Community Shield at the start of the season, and which culminated this week with the parting of ways between the club and their manager Jose Mourinho will probably have given Arsene Wenger a certain amount of private pleasure.

It could all turn out to be good for the club as well, if it helps Arsenal to hijack Chelsea’s transfer of the Croatian midfield star Marcelo Brozovic, as a report in The Mirror suggests might happen next month.

The 23-year old is currently starring in Serie A for Inter Milan, where his versatility and talent across the midfield positions has helped the Milan club to the top of the Italian league table. His performances have also attracted the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs, with PSG and Barcelona said to be looking at him. But Mourinho was believed to be in pole position to get him, until Roman Abramovic lost patience with all the pouting and petulance that is.

So now Arsenal could be set to step in, as long as the new Chelsea boss does not pick up Mourinho´s transfer targets. The situation is further complicated by Brozovic actually being on loan in Italy from his parent club Dinamo Zagreb. But if Chelsea were going to get him then he must be available.
