Arsenal target Liverpool striker to join Wilshere on injury list?

With the terrible record that Arsenal have had with various injury problems over the last few years, even this season after Arsene Wenger appointed two key fitness and medical experts to solve the problem, you would think perhaps that the club would try to avoid bringing in any more players that are injury prone.

So I was stunned to see that Arsenal is being reported by the Daily Mail as the club that is favourite to seal the transfer of the Liverpool and England international striker Daniel Sturridge in the summer. The 26-year old is apparently not happy with the way that his current club have dealt with his injury problems and the criticism he has received about his attitude during these numerous and persistent problems.

Sturridge is certainly a top quality striker, as Liverpool’s win percentage going up 15 percent with him on the pitch proves. And Arsenal’s recent troubles have highlighted once again to us fans the need for more fire power. But have we learned nothing from the situation with players like Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby? Both of those are top quality players as well but they cannot help us much when they are in the treatment room.

Even if Sturridge was available on the cheap, which is pretty likely considering his injury record, can Arsenal really afford to take the risk of having another member of the squad spending more time in the treatment room than on the pitch?
