Julian Alvarez did all he could to leave Atletico Madrid in the last transfer window, but the Spanish side managed to keep him, although they could have sold him if he had wanted to move to Arsenal.
Considering they now focus on signing only quality players, Arsenal wanted to add the World Cup winner to their squad to strengthen it. However, his heart was set on a move to Barcelona, and there was nothing anyone could do to change his mind, which eventually led to him remaining at the Madrid club.
Alvarez remains focused on Barcelona
Alvarez has been one of the top players in world football for some time, and the attacker could do well if he moved to Arsenal. However, the Gunners could not convince him to join them, with the forward instead opting to remain at his present club rather than move to the Emirates.
His decision to stay at Atletico Madrid has not necessarily ended speculation over his future. Alvarez could still change teams in January, with Fichajes claiming that Atletico would be more than happy to allow him to leave the club at that stage of the season.

Arsenal face another obstacle
That development should be good news for Arsenal, but it is not, as the report insists Alvarez still favours a move to Barcelona. His preference means the Gunners face another obstacle if they want to bring him to the Emirates.
Alvarez has already shown that his desire to join Barcelona played a major role in his decision to remain at Atletico. Unless his stance changes, Arsenal could struggle to persuade him to choose the Gunners over the Catalan side.
For now, the attacker remains at Atletico, despite having done all he could to leave during the last transfer window. Arsenal remain interested in his situation, but the possibility of a move to the Emirates appears difficult while Alvarez continues to favour Barcelona.

In view of the developing political situation, I’d say that we should avoid any Argentine footballers for a while.
Jax,
Ardilles was at Spurs in and around the 1982 when that conflict occurred
Or did he make an interim respite at PSG during that moment? Maybe the likes of Herr Drier
amba, yes, he spent some time at PSG due to the Falklands War. He did come back to play for that lot in N17 in 1984 I think it was.
HD,
Thanks for the assurance. I think his cool calm polite nonabrasive demeanour was unlike most Argies if my memory is
amba, you’re welcome. He could be quite snidey in the tackle in the North London Derby, especially at WHL. I also remember a game at Highbury when one of our players was given offside just in their half. He placed the ball for the free kick in our half 😂. The ref told him to take it back into their half, which he did, but then he threw it into our half again 😂. The ref then had a word with him and he placed the ball back in his own half.
I hope you found it absurd as was Ardiles. He was trying to save the blushes of the ref. I think it might have been given for a foul. Whose time? Graham? The current crop of Argies are more than snidey; look the shameless Paredes
If come January Arsenal are still wasting their time on this clearly not going to happen transfer, then it should be open season on the people who haven’t learnt their lesson regarding the wasted summer transfer market, and still persist wasting the winter one to.
If we don’t get this right in January and stop dithering and also have fairly good luck with health and performance among our now more-limited attacking force until then, we may well be conceding another title to Man Cheaty — or perhaps another contender who has made significant improvements over the summer.
I think we need to move on from this for good.
It seems Argentinian players lately come with a bit of baggage. Also, we need to consider Jax’s comment.
Oh no, not 5 months of this again.
Its always been Barcelona for him. at the time of city transfer, Barcelona didnt want him. So he thought he could use Athletico to get to Barca.
Exactly how many red flags does it take before we walk away?
1. He said no, he’s not interested.
2. Goal tally leaves a lot to be desired
3. Poor attitude; disrespectful to home club and home fans
4. Enormous price tag for average results
Why pay 130 million to adopt another’s headache?
Durand,
👍👍👍👍👍
We’ve no mental energy left in the tank to go after your affair hereafter, Mr Alvarez the silent pretender.
