Arsenal to battle it out with Man Utd for teenage Brazilian starlet

Arsenal joins Manchester United in the race for the next Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal is hoping to repeat the success they have enjoyed with Gabriel Martinelli in the upcoming winter transfer window as they reportedly have an eye on a fresh new Brazilian talent.

The Gunners signed Martinelli for just £5 million in the summer and the youngster has been a revelation so far.
The 18-year-old has already netted seven times for Arsenal this season despite only joining them in the summer.

Mirror Sport reports that the Gunners were one of several teams who sent scouts to a U23 international tournament in Tenerife. The competition featured Under23 teams from Brazil, Argentina, USA, and Chile.

Arsenal was joined by the likes of Manchester United and PSG in scouting the stars of the future. Competition is definitely going to be fierce in the race to sign the hottest young prospects that were on display.

According to the same report, Arsenal has identified Flamengo’s Reinier as the next Brazilian youngster that they would love to have in their ranks and contacts have been established with his father.

The 17 years old is currently highly sought-after following a breakout season.

He is currently valued at £17 million and Arsenal will no doubt be hoping that the influence of Arsenal’s Technical Director, Edu will give them an advantage.

I have to say that I know nothing at all about this particular youngster. But I do give these sort of reports some credence because of Edu and the current Arsenal philosophy of buying for the future.

    1. Try telling that to Man Utd fans when they stumped up £30m for Wayne Rooney. Turned out a bit of a bargain don’t you think?

      1. Rooney was an English starlet and a good shirt seller at Everton

This young Brazilian is unknown in England

        1. Rooney was still a teenager and was not as good as Ronaldo and Messi.Whats shirt sales got to do with it.
The first thing I would want to know if this kid was going to be a top player not a top shirt seller.Durely one would follow the other wouldn’t it?

    2. 17m too much for a young teenager?
Please where is the least of young teenagers as good as young Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

      1. @Exterminating and @Diogenes

Martinelli could be our Ronaldo and he cost less than ten millions

If Reinier is as talented as Vinicius Jr, 30+ M would be a bargain

But he doesn’t look as skillful as Vinicius on his YouTube highlights

        1. A ridiculous argument. Jamie Vardy cost two pounds tuppence halfpenny so I would think he ended up as a bargain. Xhaka and Mustafi were £35m EACH which shows that the price you pay does not guarantee success no matter what age group we are talking about.
When you buy a youngster you are buying potential. With Edu knowing this market inside out I would have thought he might just know a bit more than you or his worth

    3. Well, i’m from Brazil, and this kid plays for the team i support here, Flamengo.
Who will win the Serie A here with 13 points ahead, and who plays the Libertadores Final on the Weekend, this kid is fantastic, he is similar to Kaká, but he suppost to have a 60M release clause

      1. Thanks for the info. Gio, have you any further information regarding his move to The Arsenal and is it a possibility?

How is edu rated over there with regards to his importance in making our club an attractive proposition?

        1. I think the chances of him going to Arsenal or any other clubs is zero.
They just renew the kids contract last week.
I of course would love if he stays here for 2 more years, he is from other level, compared to the players we have here, but he would be expensive for Arsenal, if he leaves, i hope that is for the Gunners.
As for Edu, here nobody talks about him, the premier league here, everybody talks about City and Liverpool, nothing else, but Edu wasnt everybodys cup of tea, because he was involved in the Brazilian National Team, who nobody gives a shit anymore LoL

          1. Thanks for info Gio, sounds like BS once again from our media!!!

One more question, how do you compare him to Martinelli as a footballer?

Good luck in the final and start talking Arsenal over there!!!!

          2. I think Martinelli is more a striker
Reinier, plays on the wings and as a 2nd striker, because the system the team plays, makes everybody move around the entire game switching positions
            Thanks for the Luck!!!
            COYG!

  1. 17m too much for a young teenager? Or else he is as good as young Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, please where is the list of young teenagers as good as young Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi that one can buy for 17m

  2. Well, if the Brazilian youngster footballer is actually a good player having the stats he could be a Kylian Mbappe in the making and will actually becomes one for Arsenal if they sign him for a fee in the region of £6m to transfer to Arsenal which his selling club should jump at to collect with happiness. But when will his likely signing by Arsenal take place? Next January window or during the summer? Whichever, Arsenal could take the gamble to sign the lad to develop him and see if it’ll pay a handsome dividend to the club at the end.

But I’ve to noticed that Arsenal have some youngster Gunners in Burton and Balogun in the rank of their first team squad who have been utilise in Arsenal PL matches this. And I think they have one Olayinka in their U23 team squad who played expansive football for Arsenal during the club preseason games in USA. I think Emery should start playing these good guys not only in the Europa League Cup and FA Cup matches this season for Arsenal if at all he has used them to play in the ELC but start introducing them into matches for Arsenal in the PL.

    1. Well, they sold him for £35,000,000, so made a profit of approx. 130%

For pool to get the same return, he would have to be worth approx. £80,000,000.

No way Jose…so I guess the club did well there then – especially with the long term injuries he has had since moving.

Always shows respect for our club, so good luck Alex.

        1. Declan – Thanks for pointing out my mistake – I should practice what I preach and read the post correctly shouldn’t I?

Not a bad return on the Ox though was it?

  4. Chambers is worth more than Socratic or Mustafi who between them cost a staggering 55m.We will be lucky to get 10m for both of them now if indeed they are sellable.

    1. Exactly the point Grandad. Its all about worth.Mings looks a better CB at international level than Maquire who was bought for £80m. So who is the better worth of those two ?
