God knows how many times JustArsenal readers have begged Arsene Wenger to adjust his tactics depending on the opposition instead of just Attack! Attack!, especially after Arsenal’s embarrassing defeats against the Top Teams last season including the 6-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Well this time around Arsenal have Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck around to cause a few more problems for the Chelsea defence, and according to Per Mertesacker, the Gunners will be “trying new things”>
He was quoted in the Independent after the excellent performance against Galatasary: “Obviously it is a good lift before the Chelsea game. We have got good confidence at the moment and will try to implement that into the game on Sunday,”
“We know we can do better than the two consecutive seasons (at Chelsea) before and I think we will try new things on Sunday to get a better result than last year.”
Arsenal could hardly get a worse result than last year, but it is definitely a plus that we are going to the Bridge with a bit more confidence than last year. After the Tottenham draw Arsenal fans were giving us no chance at all for the trip to our other London neighbours, but the massive improvement we saw on Tuesday will surely stand us in good stead for Sunday.
Mertesacker also thinks that Danny Welbeck has now reached the understanding with the team to be a real threat to the Blues. “He is the main threat at the moment, especially on the counter-attack,” said Mertesacker.
“We have players who can put him in the right situations and that is what we need to find ourselves.
“It took a bit of time, but I think now we are on the spot and we see what it takes to be a team and to be fully integrated.”
So it is all set up to be a classic game on Sunday. Both teams are unbeaten in the League this season, and I for one wouldn’t complain if we came away with a point. Would you?
galatasaray are like Liverpool 3 man defence arsenal open them up. what i see here is chelsea’s first goal would be from counter attack how much ever Mourinho loves to attack from get-go he knows having possession from the start will make his susceptible to counter attack so therefore arsenal should allow chelsea the ball but when Fabregas has it put pressure on him.
my verdict
play ballerin in RB and chambers CDM along with diaby with chamberlain,Sanchez and welbeck in the lineup and yeah this line up is too defensive arsene would not like this as usual but still suggesting it
Bellerin at RB. After the Dortmund game I doubt Wenger will risk him against Chelsea.
Some easier games( on paper) coming up after the IB, so, give him his chance again then.
Believe Diaby is still not match fit so, doubt Wenger will start him either.
Ox in the DM, maybe, but, I think he would be more dangerous out wide at the Bridge to curb the Chelsea FB going forward too much.

But at the back of my mind I can see us coming out with a very good result if we don’t start Wilshire. He is very good, but still very technically immature with the ball compared to the likes of Cazorla and Diaby. There is no room for show-boarding in this game. Need to get one over Mourinho.

I feel pretty good about Chelski. It will be tough as hell. They have an awesome attack. However ours is good too. Also, not completely impressed with their defense. Hopefully, we can avoid the 6-0 defeat of last year and get at least a draw or even better a win.

Walcott is meant to return to full training this coming week, but it seems we’ve been hearing ‘next week’ for a while now.
Our DM should be instructed to stay firmly with the defense, making it like 5men defense and our fullbacks must be extra careful, don’t go at the same time, so our DM can easy cover the one man void by our fullback (not 2) to avoid counter attack. Let the front 4 remain the same. I really don’t know what to think about that game. If Arsene twists things a little with what he has, we have a chance of a draw. Realistically, draw is the best we can get. Chances of a win, to me, is 1/10.

Gibbs and Chambers are not much attacking and comparatively solid in defense. However, Gibbs should be bit careful going forward and Chambers be more concerned about his discipline regarding to cards(he definitely is a great defender). I can have full trust on Kos and Mertz provided they operate their forward passes from the backline only, our attack is good, Sanchez and Ox on wings will track back and attack, while Ozil have to be little more aggressive than his usual days to overcome the likes of Matic, Terry, and Cahill. Welbeck, Sanchez and Ox can interchange if they want for a varied attack.
Going confident and careful, we can result a draw at least, if we are more lucky, a win is not deniable.
Arsenal have no other tactics other then attack no plan b think chelski will exploit our weaknesses and beat us comfortable!
The new red bulls have confirmed that Thierry Henry will not play for them next season. Maybe he could play for us for a season the retire at his home.

The game will be won or lost in the midfield. Arsene needs to try something different with the line-up, something Jose has not seen to date. It’s a risk but a calculated one. Arteta and Flamini start off the on the bench. Slot in Chambers as the holding midfielder along side Jackie Boy! He has the tackling and passing ability to cover in front of CB’s. Bellerin played well in Dortmund, so give the kid another change to play RB. Have OX playing a bit more defensive to help out Bellerin on Hazard.

Just going to throw it out there, who do you guys think is the better player, Eden Hazard or Alexis Sanchez?

I would only make one suggestion, play hayden in the the Cazorla position, we need to be a little more defensive and we need to sucker them in so that we can hit them on the counter.
Why hayden, he is a very good defender, good tackler, good pace, good technically and has the built for this position.
Yes Chelsea is better in the attack than last season , however our team is far more dangerous than last season and just as dangerous in attack, so if chelsea tries to press us like last season they will be in for trouble.

Ivanovic is anoda tiger wit big ass, he marks dirty, chelsea has a solid defence. Also, we shuld be careful of conceding too much corner, most of their players can nod. Our best result is draw.
