Arsenal to copy Man United’s RVP trick to seal key signing?

After the latest news on the contract situation of the Arsenal and Germany international star Mesut Ozil, reported earlier by us here at Just Arsenal, the easiest way to ensure that our king of assists commits his future to the club is for Arsene Wenger to do the same.

The manager’s current deal runs out at the end of this season and Ozil clearly wants confirmation on what the Frenchman is going to do after that before he signs a new deal himself. Fair enough I suppose, even though a lot of Arsenal fans will still be hoping that this season is the final one for Arsenal under the managerial reign of the 67-year old.

Keeping Ozil is a huge part of Arsenal’s hopes of success in the near future, so how about taking a leaf out of the book of our old rivals Manchester United? It was a similar situation they were about to go through with Sir Alex Ferguson having been in charge for years when they signed Robin van Persie from us (the less said about all that the better of course).

But after just one season the Scot stepped down and it came out that van Persie had been assured he would be staying and that was one of the big reasons for him to force the move. So if Ozil wants assurances about Wenger staying him why not give them to him, even if those assurances turn out to be wrong?

  1. If Ozil will only stay if Wenger stays, then it’s bye, bye Ozil I’m afraid. I am a fan of his, but clearly Arsenal need a new manager, with fresh ideas. As I’ve said before, I want to keep Ozil, but I think we can cope without him. Sanchez is the one that’s irreplaceable for me.

  2. I don’t get this we suppose to be the Arsenal fan club So in essence I would rather read articles that perk up my optimism about the club instead of negative views

  3. Ridiculous assumption!
Ozil says that he trusts Wenger completely which is why he wants to know whats happening. Why would Wenger even consider lying to him?

  4. It’s not Wengers style to pull the wool over his players eye’s like that. I can’t imagine him doing anything of the sort. I thought it was a nice touch’ of Ozil’s to come out and remind people, he meant it, when he said that one of the reasons why he joined Arsenal was so he could work with Arsene. He has started to score more goals and that was something he thought AW could help him with.

The best remark to all this ..Ozil wants AW to stay business, was on Twitter, when some dude said, He is Arsene Wenger’s man after all.

  5. Worst article EVER !!
So, Wenger or the management should lie to keep unhappy player?
We should help Özil and Wenger to feather their nest, right??

We are arsenal fans first before any of the players in the team.
