Arsenal to pay £525K a week to keep Ozil AND Alexis Sanchez?

This week for the first time during the summer transfer window we heard Arsene Wenger sounding a bit downbeat about the situation at Arsenal with our Chile international star Alexis Sanchez and his long tern future at the club, although the Frenchman did not change his stance on keeping the star striker for the coming season.

Wenger merely admitted that he thought it would be difficult to persuade Alexis to stay beyong the period of his current deal which runs out at the end of the season, but we also know that Le Prof can be a slippery customer when it comes to dealing with the football media, so do not take it all to heart.

Perhaps Wenger was speaking about his task of keeping Sanchez as a Gunner for the long term because he is about to offer to make the Chilean the best paid player in the Premier League, on around £300,000 a week, or that is what the Daily Mail is reporting anyway.

It appears that Arsenal are getting serious about sorting out the contract situations of our stars as well, because Metro is reporting that Mesut Ozil could be about to sign his name on a new deal worth £225,000 a week. That is the same amount that Alexis has apparently turned down already but there is less interest in the German and he seems happier about staying.

If the £300K is enough to tempt our other star, however, Arsenal could be set to give us fans a great boost by keeping these two key players for the princely sum of a combined £525,000 a week.

  1. I can’t blame Wenger
If he has offered £300,000 per week then Wenger has done all he can. We can’t afford to pay more than that.

We helped Alexis career by getting him off the Bench in Barcelona. He could have had the highest salary in the Premier League and the love of Arsenal fans. But it seems he is either being greedy or really wants to go to Pep.

Alexis is an awesome player and hard worker but he isn’t bigger than Arsenal. Every player can be replaced

We should not offer any more

    1. If he accepts lower offer from Manchester City, it means he wants to play with Barcelona’s way again. Barcelona is always forcing its players to possess the ball longer and retrieve it under ten seconds.

The players have to have good skills to possess the ball like that, under heavy pressure from their opponents. Arsenal players play much quicker and I feel Sanchez doesn’t agree with Arsenal’s system.

      1. Barca trained their players since 16 or younger and they played together in Barca B at a higher level in the 2nd division

Additionally Barca usually add 1 or 2 quality players to their first team or the first 11

Hence its easier to integrate with the majority of the main frame still in tact

        1. Agree. Arsenal also trains their youngsters since they are 16 years old or maybe younger, but they cannot produce talents like La Masia.

In addition to that, Arsenal has the same manager in the last two decades, but they still cannot improve their system to match Barcelona’s. Most Arsenal’s players cannot handle heavy pressures well.

          1. La Masia buy their young talents just like other big clubs. Some 9 – 15 year old’s are way ahead of the other kids and they’re the ones they target. They still deserve credit but it’s always rich hearing them talk about losing young players to poachers. They have benefited from being able to sign players much younger than in England. If we could look for the most gifted children worldwide I think we would have a very decent record, all of England would improve.

      2. your funny, what do you mean Barcelona way? dont play youself, arsenal players arent interested in getting the ball back when they loose it, and barca all round have better players, stop consoling yourself,we play the same they have better players…imo tiki taka is overated, it only works with world class players like henry, messi etc,not …its a no brainer having very fast players and taping the ball all over the feild, wengers best squad has always been counter attackers

i said it before, ozil should be sold
ozil is just a name no real susbstance,i didnt watch yesterday game, but i heard he was ”the same”

        1. Vital assist to Ramsey. I’ll admit during the game, I kept asking Ozil to just get pissed or something, was thinking come on, sure you’re our big player out there. But even though Welbeck scored, Welbeck was much worse than Ozil which made picking up Ozil easier. You need to realize that Leicester had a game-plan too, and part of it was to get tight on Ozil so he has to go deeper. When the nerves kicked in Ozil held his nerve. I’m not his biggest fan but I’ll wait and need to see allot more before I start up on him. Going forward we created allot, no problems there, it’s the other end that is worrying.

      1. We were at home. We had two CM players that were supposed to be defensive looking. We were supposed to have five defenders, with three CB’s in the middle. Holding played fullback half the game thanks to Bellerin. Thanks to Wengers methods we looked like we had two back at times and that was before we were chasing the game. Kolasinac was on the right and on the left wings, he was in the centre of both boxes, don’t know what he’s on but I want some of it. He was both immense and shambolic, it’s obvious he’s a wing-back. In time he’ll cover well I’d imagine, but it was a bit suicidal looking by making those types of changes on the very first competitive match. Wenger sticks Elneny in in preseason. If I was a CB Wenger would not get my respect, it’s a specialized position. I got a little off track there but what I’m saying is last nights defending is not on Ozil, we had the formation and numbers, and we were at home.

  2. I don’t believe Daily Mail and Metro. Ozil’s performances don’t make him deserve a new contract.

Sanchez is very important, but there are younger players available in the market, such as Jean Seri, Rafinha, Schick and Sergi Roberto.

    1. Seri is seriously just too overrated….

He only had 1 good season and at 27yo he only had 12 caps for Corte Ivore and that tells alot

    2. LOL Ozil doesnt deserve a new contract. Its so sad you and lots of others dont see what he does for us and how important he is. Today he was off but still made us so fluid and attack minded. The guy has been injured RELAX

      1. Özil doesn’t deserve another contract and the only reason he will sign a new one with Arsenal is because no other club in Europe wants him. He is lazy and overrated with large wage demands. I can’t believe how some Arsenal fans are the only ones that don’t see this. None of the pundits think he is world class and look at what Real Madrid have won since they sold him. Özil is a passenger that is only getting worse and every team in Europe knows it.

        1. Lol lazy? Come up with a new argument he covers more ground than any other attacker. Who do you think is making lung busting runs at the end of the games (which he’s added to his game) cause he’s in such great shape?

  3. Alexis deserves the 300k but not Ozil, but if arsenal can convince both of them including ox to pen new deal, that will be wow!

    1. Alexis is not interested in the money…If that was the case, he could have signed long ago. The problem here is that he doesn’t want to keep playing under Wenger. Season has started and with only two signings (only Lacazette could be considered top class) the chances of winning EPL or even getting back to CL are slim….Alexis has lost faith in the manager and the Club for the lack of ambition.

  4. If Sanchez doesn’t sign the new contract off £300,000 a week then sell him, i would go for Mahrez as Monaco are playing hard ball over Thomas Lemar, i would get a top class defender and a central midfielder too

  5. Or maybe, if he doesn’t sign, he really does want to win major trophies? What would be so crazy about that? We all know the guy wants to win so why would he not want to win the real trophies like the PL or CL?

  6. Alsxis is “agitating” for a transfer but because he is our “best” player, everybody wants him to stay. Wenger has decided Alexis must stay and if he still wants out end of season good luck to him, he was a part of last season’s debacle and he should be a part of the solution.

It strange how Ozil is undervalued and underappreciated because “no bids coming in for him” Any ordinary player would have melted away the way some fans have turned on him. Giroud is also highly unappreciated but has been a good servant for the club and even at age 30 he could easily move away to be the main man but yesterday Wenger admitted Giroud has chosen to stay.

Players improve physically and psychologically with time and suddenly the dynamics change and with just the right number of additions and exits, the players begin to click and outperform expectations. Theo, Giroud, Ramsey, Ozil and Ox are our stalwarts we should not joke about parting with them regardless of market value.

We are in for a long season with a World cup coming after that, every active international player will want a great season to earn selection and how many Arsenal first team players are not active international players?

  7. Ozil must not be offered contract worth more than 150k weekly…….He is the most overrated player I have ever seen…..Coutinho David Silva yaya toure Wijnadum fabregas keita modric isco kroos Sigurson Cazorla are all far better than him…..very weak, can’t hold the ball up and very lazy…..i wish we can find a buyer and sell him off….Lemar will do a better job than him in that position……Only Wenger can tolerate Ozil lazy attitude

  8. for Sanchez even if arsenal pay 400 k a week and he decided to stay I love it ,because that guy is a real fighter relentless ,works hard on training to improve him self more ,and he will be really a perfect combination with Lacazet .But ozil as we all knows a skillful player but having only that is not enough ,he has to train hard on the training to attack resolutely ,come back and press on the opopent s defenders even midfielders to disposes the ball be a ruthless fighter ,otherwise with the performance he has been displaying which doesn’t create any impact with the ever getting stronger premiere league teams ,I don’t think he deserved to be payed that much .

  9. I think it is totally immoral for anyone to expect or earn that amount of money when so many people who go to watch the game are struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their head.Football used to be a working mans sport his reward after a hard weeks work, now he can’t afford to go because of the exorbitant ticket prices to line the GREEDY players and board members pockets.
What shall it profit a man if he should gain the world yet loose his own soul.
